Nevada Caucus results in the hands of a Bush appointee! [Updated and bumped.]
I'm sure that *one* of the two campaigns involved can use this talking point.

[UPDATE]: Well, it's official: the Bush administration wants Obama to get the Democratic nomination. Probably quid pro quo for the props to the Gipper.
It's been reported (H/T: Protein Wisdom) that U.S. District Court Judge James Mahan will rule today on whether to permit the Nevada at-large districts on Saturday to operate. I'd just like to save time now and note that Judge Mahan was appointed by George W Bush:
Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U. S. District Court, District of Nevada
Nominated by George W. Bush on September 10, 2001, to a new seat created by 114 Stat. 2762; Confirmed by the Senate on January 25, 2002, and received commission on January 30, 2002.
This should give the dogs of whichever campaign ends up being negatively affected by the decision a head start in blaming their candidate's woes on the current administration, as well as letting them bark right away about which candidate President Bush really wants the Democrats to nominate.
No, no, please: you needn't thank me for my help. Just keep doing exactly what you're doing. Really.
In fact, could you do... more of it?

For the uninitiated, there's something you all need to know about Mr. Moe Lane (besides the fact that his wife is a roboticist -- how cool is THAT?).
You see, Mr. Lane used to be a Democrat. A rather liberal one, in fact. And (as GC and others can attest) there's nothing like seeing the light and coming over to the Right side to make you see the other team for what they *really* are.
Here's the bright side: besides being a great catch for the GOP, Mr. Lane knows like nobody else what gets the Lefties' goats.
And we love him for it :-)
I'm sure that there are many people out there who can readily deride my poor efforts.

I find your lefty-tweaking skills generally high, usually amusing, and occasionally infuriating in exactly the way you'd want (which is, of course, all the more irritating).
You weren't quite so giddy about it during your Tacitus and Obsidian Wings days, as I recall.
And that's pretty much everything I'm going to say on that particular topic.

...I have to end up squishing a bug. That's one of the reason why I picked Francis for my Confirmation name; he's my favorite saint.
Why do you ask? :)

Obama and the Bushes are conspiring to take the race issue out of politics and thereby hurt the democrats.
Barack Obama is Muslim for Karl Rove.
I have to say that although all this "a Judge appointed by X administration is deciding Y" has now become the best way to incite people to proclaim that their decisions are political, it's not serving the country: it's tearing us apart at the seams.
It's really become identity politics applied to the Judiciary and all of us are guilty of it. I'm sure that right now everyone is jockeying for political advantage and a slot on their favorite cable news analysis soundbite generator seat, but it's wrecking the country. It's completely undermining people's faith in the Judiciary.
has done more to undermine people's faith in them, through their constant manipulation of the law to fit their own personal philosophy than political rhetoric.
But encouraging it isn't helping anyone.
I dunno. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that everything in this country has been deliberately made into a life-and-death political issue and that because of that we're a divided nation. This election isn't going to change it, it seems like it's just getting worse. The only thing that's going to solve it is if people take a step back rhetorically (and I'm not blaming Moe for being the messenger) and try to change it. Otherwise the identity politics professors have won: everyone is balkanized. Really in the end that means there is no shared political experience in this country any more and we're a house divided permanently.
And that means we'll fail. It's just as serious as a broken family. Call in the lawyers!
6 full hard years of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome)...the most callous and disgusting things said about a President in my lifetime...and a decision on the Culinary Union getting to vote in the casino's is tearing the country apart. The Democrats are getting everything they deserve in this election and if they could get more than they deserved I would sit back a very happy woman.
Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion
That's the problem. For my own health and safety I know that in the future I'll be trying to identify myself less with politics in my life and my business. I think it's a good way to get drawn into an impending civil war.
You might think that war needs to happen, but I don't. I think it's been instigated. I just refuse to fight it.
I find your argument to be hyperbole to the extreme. Democrats have painted the Republican party as vote stealers, racist's neanderthals since the 60's and we good people cannot relish their identity politics coming back to bite them? absurd!
This election for the Democrats is appropriate to the saying "what goes around comes around".
Oh and by the way in the 40+ years they have done that we have not had a civil war.
Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion
I think we're living in the 21st Century instance of trench warfare. We're in fact re-living battle conditions from World War I, right here on the internet. Almost equally matched forces with no insuperable advantages on a battlefield where everyone is dug in and whenever someone sticks their head out, they get shot. It's a meat grinder.
We can give some thanks to Al Gore for... Bush v Gore is when this stuff really took off, with the MSM talking about which jurists were Republicans and which were Democrats, as if that's how they were going to decide the case. Thanks for being a sore loser, Al!

Hillary! and John Edwards voted to confirm Judge Mahan, who was confirmed by the Senate on a 81-0 vote. Among the 19 Senators who did not vote on the nomination were John McCain and Fred Thompson.

Anybody who doesn't see this has Hillary-hating blinders on. You had better get a clue real $*#&$* quick fellas. Hillary won't even get close to the presidency if she's nominated, and she'll drag a big handful of congressional dems down with her.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
I will be giddy too.....in the GENERAL ELECTION. If she loses the primary to Obama, the GOP loses the general. It's that simple.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
People grin because the best case scenario is that HRC barely sqeuaks by BHO in final delegate count.
....is a great thing for the entire nation, left or right.
I disagree with your assessment, though. I see Hillary handily beating the majority of our prospective nominees in a general election.
With regard to the Hillary/Obama bloodletting, well, there's plenty more that will be let from either side before we have an opponent for the general. I take pleasure in intraDemocrat warfare far more than in intraGOP warfare, to be sure, so this, at least, is something to enjoy while it lasts.
...outside of New York. You're WAY too defeatist about our guys. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone's, but hey, opinions are like....well, you know....everyone's got one.
You're also wrong about the fall of the House of Clinton being good for the country. The House of Clinton will deliver the White House and perhaps congress to the GOP. Obama will do the opposite. I don't view that as a good thing for the country.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
The only actual electable candidate they have is Edwards and he isn't that electable.
Lets not pull punches here.
Their candidates are.
1. A man who's only qualifications are he is likeable and black.
2. A woman who is completely non likeable and was first lady.
3. An ambulance chaser that couldn't win reelection in his home state or carry it as VP.
I know our party is in disarray but lets face it this is insane.
If Obama gets the nod, the democrats are going to find the Latinos have discovered their so con side. They are also going to discover that most of their membership is more racist than they thought.
If Hillary gets the nod, Well there is little to say that a big portion of their base is going to be too depressed to vote. Its especially true if she does it through race baiting.
Edwards is the only candidate that hasn't left a pile of turds on the democratic party's carpet.

There are truths the Democrats are unwilling to admit about themselves.

He's just another pretty face, without much substance or experience. Hillary's the same (except the pretty face part).
It'll take a lot to convince the country that this guy has what it takes to do the job of president and it'll be a hard sell due to his general lack of experience as well as his crazy liberal policy ideas.
