Nicaraguan Communists For Obama

You Ain't Gonna Make It With Anyone Anyhow

At least the Che thing wasn't an actual endorsement by Che himself, just some idiot Obama supporters, albeit ones whose marked enthusiasm for Che is in contrast to their jealous guardianship of their own property rights. But Daniel Ortega is the genuine article, and he sees in Obama a kindred spirit:

"It's not to say that there is already a revolution under way in the U.S. ... but yes, they are laying the foundations for a revolutionary change," the Sandinista leader said Wednesday night . . .

H/T. At least we know that the signals Obama sends abroad about what kind of President he would be are clearly understood.

Finrod's First Law of Bandwidth:
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it takes the bandwidth of ten thousand.

I have grown increasingly tired of the ethreal "change" phrase offered by Obama and his supporters.

It's time to put some definition around that platitude. When Marxist's such as Ortega start to get excited, we should reflexively ask why.

I had an interesting conversation with several of Obama's younger supporters the other day. Bottom line; they could not really explain his positions other than he wasn't Bush or part of the democrat party proletariat. Hardly, good reasons to vote for anyone. Not that I cared, but they also said Republicans were spreading lies such as his father was Muslim and he attended a Muslim school; hmmm. In retort I stated; who cares? Is his father running for office? We are talking about issues; stunned silence.

It's time for people to get beyond the rhetoric and MSM blather to the issues. Upon further examination, I suspect many will not like what they find.

agree with your statement. most of his supporters are supporting him with no understanding of his record or policy. Obama is a socialist. He tries to hide it with his "change" and "hope" rhetoric, to cover up his socialist agenda. it's a simple concept: use rhetoric to attract the masses. When people learn his positions, or lack of positions on the issues, they will hopefully change their minds or this country is in trouble.

1) The Sandinistas aren't quite communists, in the model of say Che or Fidel. They're socialists, and while I know you love blurring the line, it's not the same. Actually, it's very different because you see Daniel Ortega was just elected.

2) Daniel Ortega now isn't the same Daniel Ortega from the 80s. He didn't campaign as a Sandinista this time, and even shied away from using the red and black flag, though his supporters did not. He's become much more devoutly Catholic, even eschewing his support for reproductive rights.

But, you know... Communists for Obama! It roles right of the tongue.

Ortega no longer represents the Sandanista Party for the same reason Vladamir Putin no longer works for the KGB. The continued association with either would be untenable to his chances of being elected. This in no way implies that he has somehow changed his political philosophy.

"I believe we must adjourn this meeting to some other place." - The last recorded words of Adam Smith.

Ortega has seemed to change his minds on issues, and go about acting on that change. Whether or not this is for political expediency is yet to be seen, but I wouldn't group him in with Putin.

Sure, and Hitler professed to being Christian. Please pick another subject on which to express such sublime stupidity.

Ortega has vacillated back and forth as a means of keeping opponents off balance. However, he is looking to make constitutional changes which secure an endless hold on power. Ortega has also tried to quietly gain more governmental control over all industry. He also expounded ad nauseum at the UN about the evil of capitalism and then took a bunch of IMF money.

Ortega has taken money from Chavez, Amadinejad, et al and now counts Obama among that group. Congratulations, perhaps being included in that group is part of the "change" we keep hearing about.

Dan's right once a communist, always a communist.
