Many people have been fooled into to believing that the CPUSA is an anachronism and no longer a valid threat. They couldn't be farther from the truth.

Any honest comparison of the CPUSA's published goals and Obama's policy prescriptions and postions will yield the same conlusions that CY has made here.

The left and Democrats have long sought to conceal their actual motives and beliefs from the American people for the very reasons cited by Thomas and other fellow travelers.

Not whether or not Obama is a socialist- that's beside my point here. I'll acccept for the moment that the Socialist Party feels Obama is the candidate who best combines electability (I'm sure a CPUSA candidate would get around 1% nationally) and being in line with their virtues. However, don't people who ascribe to these fringe groups realize they're only going to hurt their chances of getting the person they want elected by throwing themselves behind that person? Or are the members of the CPUSA so deluded they don't realize they have brand issues, to put it mildly? The best thing they could do to get Obama elected would be to quietly tell their members to donate to his campaign (or one of the other Dem fundraising vessels) or even to endorse McCain- he has enough of a liberal reputation among conservative republicans I could see some people buying it and staying home or supporting a 3rd part.

looks like the CPUSA sickle -- someone good with graphcis could morph impose the communist logo over most of his pictures.

Now again with as stupid as people are they miss the subtle or subconscious messages of most marketing graphics. As all of the Obamatrons become so accustom to the Obama Circle with the striped field and the blue halo it isn't much of a step to the CPUSA symbol. This is the frog in the water syndrome. Drop the frog in hot water and out he hops, put him in a pot of room temperature water and the then turn up the heat and you will boil the thing to death without him ever knowing.

I don't recall other Presidential campaigns having a unique logo. I am going to have to research this question.

has anyone notice on the Obama web site the US map behind him on "the Country I Love" seesm that some states are light and others are dark. Now what is the significance? As Illinois and Hawaii are dark does this mean that he only loves the dark states? He doesn't love Virginia? What does this mean -- does Obama have some plan to treat the light states differently than the dark states?

People who took Norman Thomas at his word were ridiculed for a long time in America but he is probably the most prescient self-promoter in history. Anyone's history.

Of course, anyone on the Left who changed their mind like David Horowitz did could tell you that Norman Thomas' plan got a huge boost from the counterculture generation that is currently ruling the roost in Washington. George Carlin is dead and he's got a second day of breathless obituaries at the Washington Post.

When Thomas made his statement, it seemed like a farfetched idea: how could it be achieved? Well, with 30 years of hindsight we can see how it is on the cusp of being achieved. First you have the Great Society programs, and then you take all the people who would have been radicals (and some who actually were) in the 1960s and give them a few years to become college professors, then grant them tenure. Then you grant them the exclusive ability to grant other people tenure. And then you make sure that people who watch the news and read the newspapers every night hear the world portrayed from a consistently liberal viewpoint.

Then you create a fifth estate based on nonprofit pressure groups to serve as the whip to the other two. The genteel will go to Harvard, the more radical will go to UCLA.

Then you find a leftist, no-term Senator from Illinois who has spent his whole life chasing leftist causes and you use Hollywood and applied political science (some of which was borrowed or appropriated from Republicans) and make him the President of the United States.

My imperial overlord Kowalski laid out some of the consequences of Marx being right after despairing over the fact that this election is increasingly turning into a slam dunk for one Barack Hussein Obama, and there is nothing anyone in the Republican Party can really do about it. We'll type a billion words between now and November, but Barack Hussein Obama is right now sitting behind the eye of the Great Seal. He's completely in control because he's got all the identity politics mastered -- advice which came directly from the people who created it, and he's on the winning side of every equation, including money and invulnerability.

Oh, and let me not forget: you pick a guy as your nominee who was *nobody's* choice for dog catcher among the base of your party as recently as two years ago. Then you have a sitting President who is by anyone's measure an almost complete disappointment, and you throw into the mix a housing crisis and stratospheric gasoline prices, and voila! Realignment time! Exit Stage Left.

Obama "Hopes" he can "Change" America from a Superpower, to a "Subservient" SOCIALIST 'globalized' nation, who answers to international law, the U.N.-(AKA--an international den of criminals!)--and other methods to destroy America as we've known it for over 200 years. The "key word here" is SOCIALIST!

As dozens of other nations, past/present/future have found out, SOCIALISM--A first STEP--leads to COMMUNISM--and happens in "X" steps--(short time to long...)--to erode freedom and rights one by one. The latest "Communist Textbook Example" is Venezuela, and Chavez, who has, and is, using the "perfect program" to go from Socialism to Communism per "Road Map instructions" from his "idol" Castro!

Obama is the most dangerous, naive, incompetent, clueless, miserable excuse for the President of the most powerful nation on Earth, since Carter! If elected, Obama will make Carter look like "George Washington" when/if America SURVIVES Obama!

Final point: I'm not a big McCain supporter either, but at least, McCain has his "head screwed on straight"--and his top priority is America's security and defense! Neither, of these "concerns" are even on Obama's "LONG" list!

A MAJOR thing that bothers me, is that Obama was bred by a MUSLIM Father, received Islamic schooling as a youth, then, "abandoned" Islam for "Christanity!??!" TECHNICALLY, Obama is a MUSLIM in the world of Islam!

(Tips: Ref. all the "back room scenes Obama has had with the "Muslim" bit: Cong. Ellison, Minn, "chewing out Obama" for "removing the two Muslim women from one of his TV shots"--"endorsed" by Farrahkahn, "Nation of Islam"--Rev.!??! Wright--who, has better things to say about Islam than Christanity! "All the above" KNOW--WHO and WHAT Obama is! And, NO! Obama is not a "Secret Muslim!" A childish media term to "pacify voters!" Obama IS a Muslim by BIRTH!)

Having read the Koran over 47 years ago, this makes Obama an "Apostate" in Islam! Being an "Apostate" in Islam is the worst of the worst in Islam! It's noteworthy, that BOTH Obama, dem supporters, other anti-Americans and the Muslim world are "tap-dancing" around the Muslim bit!

If one can't "read between the lines" on the Muslim thing--here's a hint: How many people do you know who's middle name is "HUSSEIN!?!?"

I hope and pray (I'm a REAL Christian!)--that in Nov. voters will get Obama's "Cute, Rock Star" status out of their eyes, and realize what can happen to the greatest nation on Earth! LOSING THE AMERICA THAT MILLIONS OF US HAVE LOVED AND DEFENDED SINCE 1776!

don't think this is anything worth chasing. The problem with Obama isn't that he's a communist. The problem is that he's a shape shifter. Just within the last week he's done a 180 on two issues alone. The RNC seems to understand this with their new ad about his changing stances on trade. I think there's a lot more and better material with that tack.
