1. There is no there there
or
2. What there is is HIGHLY overrated.

I vote #1.

You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.

Start drooling, because the big O is going to be the Democratic nominee, and over the next 6 months he's going to unravel in front of the whole country. Think McGovern, think Mondale, this is going to be a blowout.

I usually view RedState from a PC w/o installed Flash player. So these scripts are invisible to me.

Some of your articles *do* have excerpts that explain the core of the issue. Could you remember your non-video users and put the blurb into the article? Below-the-fold is fine.

Thanks.

and I want to get this right, that he will "say anything and do anything" to get elected. It's right there at the end of the video.

I'm really getting to despise Obama, didn't he learn when he distorted Senator McCain's comments on Iraq? Apparently not.

....harp on McCain's 100 yrs. line now that he has been called on the carpet on that lie too.

What is Obama lying about here?

"The most dangerous form in which oppression can overshadow a community is that of popular sway" -James Fenimore Cooper

Well, what is he lying about?

Nobody has to this point stated what 'the lie' is in this story. You've just called Obama a liar. So what's he lying about?

"The most dangerous form in which oppression can overshadow a community is that of popular sway" -James Fenimore Cooper

you're kidding... right?

goldenboy seems uninterested in discussion, can you tell me what the lie is?

"The most dangerous form in which oppression can overshadow a community is that of popular sway" -James Fenimore Cooper

Wow, you must sign the checks around here?

Once there was a man named John McCain who said that many people were hurting in this economy, but that overall the last 7 years had seen many successes and record-setting gains in the economy.

Another man named Barak Obama told his friends that this McCain fellow thought that the economy was perfect, which was a lie because it led Obama's friends to think that McCain was out of touch and thought noone was suffering.

Mr. Obama had done this before, with a certain 100 years comment, so we know now that Barak is a very bad man and a liar.

OK. Go to bed now.

The lie is that McCain said the economy has made "great progress." It was intended to make McCain look oafish and stupid. McCain, in fact, said it could -be argued- based on a couple of parameters that the economy has made great strides -- and he lists those parameters (those areas in which the economy -has- done well). But he bookended that with examples of how the economy has been hard on people, and how people have had economic difficulty.

Obama's lie is in the implication that McCain doesn't know what's going on with the economy.

Fred Thompson, 2008

Ah yes, 'it could be argued.' The perfect way to say something without taking responsibility for it. It's not like the interviewer asked McCain to play the devil's advocate, he asked him what he thought of the economy. McCain danced his usual political dance, acknowledging the reality of the economic situation while not divorcing himself from the Bush policies that are adversely affecting it, because that's the position that George Bush's unpopularity has put him in.

Obama isn't lying about anything, he's attacking his competitor, accurately. McCain's economic policies would be continuations of Bush's economic policies, and that would be bad, if the shape of the economy as Bush leaves office is any indication. That's not a fair point for a liberal Presidential candidate to make?

Also, if you don't want people going around saying that McCain knows nothing about the economy, you should probably tell McCain to stop doing it first.

"Land of the Free and Home of da Whopper" Peter Griffin...Family Guy

stop trolling.

Second, this is part of a pattern of Obama taking a part of a statement, removing the context, and using it as a pinata for the pinheads who cheer him on. He did this with the "100 years" remark and was rightfully castigated by virtually every newspaper in the country.

"A man does what he can and endures what he must."

and that's saying something. Did you not pay attention to the clip at all? McCain is CLEARLY not saying the economy is robust and excellent. He's saying there are positives, but he recognizes the negatives.

Obama is attacking his opponant, as usual, based on going outside the context of what was said and picking up a single sentence out of several. You can make anyone look like an idiot that way -- it's just that people with class, intelligence and integrity don't have to.

Are you deliberately obtuse, or do you honestly not know what's going on?

Fred Thompson, 2008

The problem is one more of perception then reality. There are some problems and concerns but they have been vastly blown out of proportion by the Democrats and the MSM. People are worried about the future and other people in the country even if they feel pretty good about their own situation at the current time. For eight straight years the Democrats and the MSM have been pounding on Bush and the Republicans so it is no wonder than large swaths of Americans are concerned. Unfortunately, sometimes perception trumps reality in politics.

All that said, Obama is lying because McCain was talking about people's concerns and worries for 90% of the time but Obama makes it sound like McCain is clueless. Obama is also lying about the state of the economy, but at least you could argue that sentiment is opinion.

when Obama stops saying he knows something about foreign policy...McCain does not have to be brilliant with economy because the President really does not have much say other than the veto pen...but in foreign policy where McCain makes Obama look the marxist loon he is the President must be well schooled because he is the Commander in Chief of the United States Military....so go school yourself on the intricacies of the Presidency before you post stupidity.

Obama is a lying liar of the highest order!!!

Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion

You know it, I know it, Obama knows it.

He said that one could make an argument that there's been great economic progress overall. And that's certainly true -- our economy will have grown by about 35% total between 2001 and 2009.

But his answer to the question -- the very answer where Obama lifted his quote -- was that many people are feeling the struggle right now and facts like the one I cited above are going to be of little comfort.

To boil down McCain's answer to that question to "there's been great economic progress" is sheer hackery. For Obama to think he can get away with it in this day and age is naivete at its worst.

lol at 'butchered the context,' what about Obama? What about the context of his argument? I see a 20 second clip of Obama followed by a 70 second clip of McCain's. We get the full question and answer from McCain, from Obama we get a hastily cut together sound bite. Isn't that 'butchering the context,' as you put it?

I don't get it, I'm trolling? How so? By supporting Barack Obama? That's trolling on a political website? Is this a site explicitly for Republicans only? Is the comments system only for use by Republicans?

If I knew how I was being a 'pinhead jackass,' maybe I could repent for it, but you haven't even tried communicating with me. I mean did I break a rule? It's been all of an hour since I registered, I haven't sworn or been impolite, what else am I supposed to think other than that you're just afraid to talk to a liberal?

After all, If you have nothing but the southern ends of a northern bound herd of horses supporting you it says more about you than them.

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
-Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777

The definition: The omission of a word or a phrase in order to reframe a quote and alter its meaning. Obama somehow elided all the qualifications that McCain to that quote. Any other questions?

1. McCain, 2. Thompson, 3. Giuliani, 4. Romney

"...that's just how Washington is. They like stirring up controversy. They like playing gotcha games and I would say Sen. Obama was in his element." Obama is everything he accuses other politicians of being. He's an unrepentant liar, a fraud, shallow as a puddle, and only a red nose and a big pair of shoes short of hitting it big in his true vocation.

BTW, McCain's answer in that clip was dead-on perfect. I bet he even knows that increasing payroll taxes is a tax increase and that increasing the capital gains tax depresses both tax revenue and economic growth.

We are SO going 2 b pwned this fall.

Please explain your post.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

and the implication that we will not be powerfully owned this fall.

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner.

My post was accidentally placed here, rather than in a thread on how a Soros-backed group has an ad in which teens mock McCain about his age.

The last line is a combination of texting and gaming lingo I picked up from my kids, and means we're going to kick some mighty D butt this fall.

Gone 2500 years, still not PC.

Does anyone remember how McCain didn't let Ron Paul off the hook. If Barry is whining about the questioning from Charles Gibson and George (my mother has a crush on you) Stephanopoulos I imagine he will be crying when McCain gets a hold of him. Barry is complaining about Hillary sticking in the knife. Well Barry ole’ boy, I’ve been on the receiving end of a McCain knifing, you better wear depends to the debates.

So apparently his idea of hope and change is to go to Washington and lie with impunity and hope that no one punches his lights out for it.

It's too bad our Reps have developed such a taste for collegiality. If they acted more like Hamilton and Burr we could at least eliminate a few of the more egregious ones.

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.

Let me make this analogy:

McCain: The American flag is red, white, and blue.

Obama: John McCain thinks the American flag is red!

Well, yes, technically McCain DID say the American flag is red.

See! Obama didn't lie!

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

McCain: America is a bad country to mess with.

Obama: He said 'America is a bad country'!

McCain: I can't believe you said 'America is a 'bad c--t'!

Erm. Sorry. Editors, feel free to ban me now.

Obama comes off awfully, but pleases his audience. Are we still surprised how lefties want to swallow lies whole? C'mon...they want lies and he wants to serve them up to them. It's a marriage made in heaven.

This is so not going to work in the general. I may not be a fan of McCain but I don't believe the man is a liar, and Obama appears to be nothing but.

You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.

"Obama comes off awfully, but pleases his audience."

that's because his audience is full of people so longing for any kind of savior, that they'll willingly turn a blind eye to his every fault -- sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting 'LALALALALALA' at the top of their lungs, while flipping you the bird for pointing those faults out.
