Obama Will Sell Anything

"I Sell the Things You Need To Be. I'm the Smiling Face on Your TV"

The Obama campaign officially announced today that Sen. Obama will accept the Democratic presidential nomination in an open air event expected to draw 75,000 people. The campaign takes pains to point out that free tickets will be available for the torchlight rally acceptance speech, but...

If you make a donation of $5 or more between now and midnight on July 31st, you could be one of 10 supporters chosen to fly to Denver and spend two days and nights at the convention, meet Barack backstage, and watch his acceptance speech in person. Each of the ten supporters who are selected will be able to bring one guest to join them.

This guy will sell anything. So much for the new politics. Obama's campaign is more motivated by money and fundraising than any campaign in recent memory. One wonders if this will continue into an Obama presidency.

"For a donation of $25 dollars or more, you could be one of 10 lucky people to be flown to Washington D.C. to sit in on an exciting intelligence briefing in the White House Situation Room. Afterwards, you'll be given an exclusive tour of the Oval Office and get to listen in on a secure phone call between President Obama and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Your whirlwind day will conclude with a special de-briefing by the president and the opportunity to personally sign one letter of President Obama's signature to the official roll back of the Bush Tax Cuts."

I guess "fixing a broken public finance system" means "sell anything that isn't nailed down including my dignity and the dignity of the office in order to out raise my opponents" in Obamian.

They must have been pretty poor. Because that's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that the man is pandering for $5.

hold a fake raffle!

Everyone on both sides holds very expensive fundraisers where you can meet the candidate, get your picture taken (for a price), spend a few minutes chatting.

Yawn.

get the memo?

YAWN...at your lack of understanding that Obamessiah is not acting like the change/hope agent he purports to be....we knew that, you obviously did not or you wouldn't question WHY we make fun of him!

Freedom of Religion NOT Freedom from Religion

an agent of change. At least he can read a teleprompter.

The guy's a politician, a prop of a political machine. He's no better or worse than John McCain in that respect.

because he does not know what he is thinking he needs to be told...like the empty suit he is.

Freedom of Religion NOT Freedom from Religion

What was the other word in Obama's slogan, along with "Hope"?

Thanks for acknowledging its lack of applicability here, and for registering your opinion that Obama is both liar and fraud.

Wish I'd tried harder to see it when it happened.

He could really have new politics.

Make his campaign like a PBS pledge drive.

He could interrupt his speeches with pledge breaks.

Offer useless nick knacks and cheap glasses at various pledge levels.

He could also offer the various liberal foundations funding him the right to plaster their name in stickers on his clothes.

Love that brave new politics he is creating.

Seems like something out of a teen magazine.

McCain/Kasich?

How is this any different from McCain selling rides on the Straight Talk Express:

"Be the lucky supporter to ride with John McCain on the Straight Talk Express on an upcoming bus tour. Everyone who donates between now and June 30th is eligible"

At least Obama is offering people a chance for $5 - McCain's pandering starts at $25 a ticket, and goes up to $2300 a ticket.

And you think Obama will sell anything? Its exactly what McCain has been doing for months.

Except that Obama is not supposed to be like McCain. He's supposed to be different, the anti-politician. Remember?

Also, the concept originated with the Obama camapaign, donations for a private dinner with the candidate. McCain's camp responded because it seems like a good way to raise money, which McCain needed desperately. Obama has raised enough, don't you think? Or is money no longer corrupting?

No doubt that Obama will raise cash with this promotion. But that's not the point of the piece. Just becuase something can be sold, doesn't mean that it should.

Damn the Obama! Full speed ahead!

I have now read in two places that this is illegal in several states. Worldnetdaily has an article about how it looks to be illegal in Colorado, and Drudge has an article about how it is illegal in Minnesota.

Obama's campaign people are idiots.

Apparently the standard is "Consideration, chance and reward". You must pay something, luck must be involved, and there must be a reward. Most sweepstakes avoid this by saying that you can enter without paying, just sending the form in if you want, but Obama's campaign failed to mention anything like that.

And McCain's campaign overcame the requirement by doing what??

And WingNutDaily is hardly a reliable source... its just a right wing mouth-piece for your usual load of sh*t.

Though McCain married into money, so what does he care. Cindy has already flown him all over the country on her private jet. No mention of the first wife he let lie in her hospital bed, broken and crippled from the accident, while he was out having affairs (to which he has admitted).

So much for the party that trumps "family values".

The blind worshippers of Obama are ready for Jihad against you for your patriotic dissent.
