Pres: Sen. McCain Officially Announces
Why Is This News?

I'll admit that I find "silly season" in politics to be an apt term. After preparing for 7 years to run for President in 2008, Senator McCain will announce on David Letterman tonight that he is "officially" in the race.
Consider this an open thread on the Republican nomination.
Starting points:
1. Can you name who is "officially" in and who is not?
2. How many times can a candidate "declare" and the news still cover it?
3. David Letterman announcement? Good idea? Are there better places? Larry King?

I've actually been to the Ford Museum. There are some great exhibits there.
The people who probably come up with the anti-Semitic remarks are the same folks who push our nation into this "pro-Israel" mantra at the expense of our own national security. Over the past 25 years or so, we have become involved in conflicts overtly one-sided (and I'm not talking about Palestine). I understand that we need Israel to prevent to spread of radical Islam, but it's time that we start protecting ourselves instead of blindly protecting Israel. IMO, Israeli national security does not equal American national security. They are not the same.
We have been unable to come to grips with the fact that a certain proportion of our population has infiltrated our foreign policy, and we are much less secure as a result.
Rudy appeared on Letterman 21 times in his 8 years as Mayor, even once personally filling a pothole outside the studio.

I think the better one for the Senator from the NYT would be an announcement in his own op-ed article :)
"I could explain, but that would be very long, very convoluted, and make you look very stupid. Nobody wants that... except maybe me."
Rudy made his "official" announcement, so I guess Sen. Intemperate figured maybe HIS making one would make them go back up.
Answers:
1. No.
2. Depends on the media's affection and agenda.
3. Yes. Yes. No.

I think it's about time the old Straight Talk Express is back in action. Further, I think this means we'll start seeing more of the circa 2000 John McCain -- feisty as ever, and ready to hit the campaign trail. More please!

You'll never see the Straight Talk Express again. This time around it's the Suck Up Express.

The web site gets into a huge furor when a Democrat (Obama) calls American lives in Iraq were 'wasted.' But wait... Heaven forbid! If a Republican (like McCain) says it... Let's not put a single posting on this site. When Obama said it, it was front and center on the homepage. When McCain says it, there's not a single note (until I posted it just now). We can't tarnish our own!
I'm definitely a Republican, but this is just another example of the hypocrisy from both parties that is ruining our nation.

Most of us probably don't watch Letterman and certainly wouldn't stay up late to see McCain pander to his crowd. I suspect you'll see McCain get shredded for that remark before too long but we've got to get caffeinated first.
Since you've been here all of three weeks and obviously think you're smarter than the rest of us, you really should have posted something about the context of the remark and maybe how it will play in the masses. But no, you take the opportunity to take a shot at the "hypocrisy from both parties".
If you want to comment on substance, do so. If you want to whine and throw water balloons, go away.

You'll note it addresses the issue you whined about but couldn't find it in your heart to actually address.

Your comment was inappropriate. If we had gone two or three days without a comment, you might have a point. It was barely daylight out here in AZ when you posted that.
My point was, and is, if you've got an issue that you think should be addressed, write a blog about it. Your whiney little comment was way out of line.

I laughed out loud at the comments about hastert and the wicked witch, the one about the alternate planes was just cover I guess. Do they actually pay people to do this stuff?
Hey there, troll, is nasty nan paying you or the dem party?

Letterman is funny, but way liberal and anti-GWOT. If Romney took anti-semetic shots for announcing at the Ford Museum, than McCain should take the liberal MSM shots for announcing it on Letterman.
