Richardson to Endorse Obama

The never ending comedy that is Bill Richardson just got a little funnier today. Just days after the press revealed that Hillary Clinton was in the White House while her husband was staining Bill Richardson's employee Monica Lewinsky's blue dress, Richardson came out today intent on slitting the throat of his political patrons.

He's going to endorse Barack Obama.

This is funny and interesting for several reasons.

First, you'd think someone setting himself up as a Latino leader would position himself at the top of the Clinton food chain. After all, Latino voters are heavily favoring Clinton over Obama and Richardson could make some leadership inroads there.

Second, given the rate at which Bill Richardson likes to drop his pants for women not his wife, you'd think he'd have a closer bond with Bill Clinton. [Note to self: do not name your child Bill]

Third, given the patronage the Clintons have shown Bill Richardson in the past, what with his Energy Secretary position and UN Ambassador position, you'd think he'd want to pay them back. Never underestimate a politician's ability to bite the hand that feeds him.

Lastly, Richardson has tried to position himself as a new ideas, middle of the road Democrat. Given Obama's far left credentials and shoddy resume of hope and fluff, we should remind ourselves that when most Democrats talk about being new Democrats, they really mean old Democrats they hope everyone has forgotten about.

Oh, what the heck: One more point: Given Bill Richardson's repeated poor judgment over the years and a habitual ability to ride the coat tails of losers, I will again say that I relish having Obama as the Democratic nominee.

Richardson endorsement is huge for Obama and yet very striking at why now? If anything it appears Clinton has mojo so why has he done this?

What exactly will it do for him? I find it highly unlikely that it will move voters in any significant manner. The best it will do is perhaps knock Rev Wright out of the news cycle for a bit.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

....something really nasty about Richardson to be leaked to the media in coming days or weeks.

The Clintonistas don't suffer "traitors" gladly.

Call my idea out there but what if its a way to link Obama/Clinton feud at the end? Richardson could be VP for Clinton and say there is no division between Dems at the end?

Obama will not fully recover from the fact that he goes to a racist and anti-American church.

People are now realizing that his: not putting his hand over the heart during the pledge-of-allegiance, his refusal to wear a flag pin, his wife saying she has never been really proud of the USA until this year. All of those factors plus more I probably do not know about have a root cause = the Trinity Church and Pastor Wright.

Hillary will win the nomination, this was a major big mistake by BR, I was figuring she would have selected him as her VP until now.

Hopefully this will help Obama seal the deal and clinch the nomination.
Clinton is gaining huge ground in general polls _and_ in the remaining primaries, we do not want her to come back from the dead, yet again.
Obama will almost be a walkover, but with the Clintons we'll have a huge nasty campaign on our hands. And there is the problem for us. They will beat McCain, because they master the negative and that is the way he can be beat.
Bush proved this in 2000.

I think that's probably being generous. I'm not aware of ANY times in Obama's lifetime that he's been a leader. I guess shooting for only ONCE, though, is probably a reasonable place to set the bar.

You can't afford the price of free corn.

I question the impact of a Richardson endorsement. He was an also-ran in the nomination process from day 1, with most thinking he was auditioning for #2. Perhaps it's a move, along with trying to get "Rev." Wright's racist blatherings off the screen, to try & shore up some of the super-delegates?
