Ryan Seacrest scores a scoop.
...a positively Seussian title, no?

I don't actually watch television - I'm too cheap for cable, and can live with the notion of watching the few truly must-see shows after the fact - so I have only an intellectual understanding of the incongruity of having Mr. Seacrest acquire the answer to a significant political question:
On ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve", Republican turned Independent Mayor Michael Bloomberg told Seacrest in no uncertain terms that he will not make a bid for the Oval Office.
Seacrest, who more often finds himself in a tete-a-tete with Simon Cowell rather than the leader of Gotham, began the inquiry by commenting to Bloomberg's daughters, "I want your dad to answer this honestly. Will you run for president?"
Without hesitation, Bloomberg responded, "No, I will not run for president, but I will speak out to try to get people to really focus on the issues and to get rid of partisanship and special interests."

It's just as well - God knows that the primaries this year were complicated enough, at least on the GOP side - but I'd like to commend Mayor Bloomberg for at least making a simple, declarative statement that can't be weaseled out of without lasting political damage. Mind you, I'd like to do that after whacking him upside the head with a rolled-up newspaper for being a Rudy Giuliani, only without the charm; but then, that's just me.
and... not bad, Mr. Seacrest. Unconventional interviewing technique, to be sure, but it got a straight answer out of the man without you having to lie to him first, which is the idea. I wouldn't let it get to your head or anything, but I think that you can justify putting a token of this one up on your ego wall.

And I thought we were the only ones.
As a side note, it has an astoundingly positive effect on your kid's intellectual growth.

A third party run by a competent, well-financed pro-choice Northeastern moderate would probably be the best case argument for a candidate who hails from the heartland, can hold the base together and doesn't need to appeal to swing voters. And that means Fred.
