The GOP YouTube Debate

By Erick Posted in Comments (249) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

The drivel that is the "show me you care" debate of netizen asked generally lame questions over YouTube will begin shortly.*

We will again all wonder why Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo remain in the race. We may soon be asking that about others.

In any event, here's the thread. I'll keep it up top during the debate.

*The views expressed are my own, but I'm right. I expect lots of people like the sniveling long haired hippy dude from 1992 who wanted Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush to show him they cared because they were like the nation's dad. Except this time it'll be in grainy YouTube format instead of in person.

Kick some butt!

Hunter and Tancredo should not be there. We are a month away from the primaries now, its time to cut the fat.

...ask. The Youtube Dem debate consisted of a lot of softballs.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

Good grief, who the hell let the first question get through? The freaking thing is long. Ask your &(^&*&((#!!! QUESTION.

Fight On!

Oh lord, save us from this idiocy.

At least, if you share my view that politics are dumbed down enough as it is without having talking snowmen and that guy with a guitar become regular parts of election year fare.

They looked around for illegals who had committed crimes to round them up? Um . . . wasn't their first act into the city a crime?
Fight On!

I have the feeling that the most important things I missed in this debate were the opportunity to meet Bob Hahn and the chance to wear some really cool shorts in Tampa, where right now it's 75 degrees, and I would have loved it, but there would have been precisely zero relation to politics.

In my little town in Massachusetts, it's 32 degrees with no wind, and even the implication of a suggestion of a gust brings you into the frozen zone.

I'm watching Walker, Texas Ranger on the Huckabee Channel right now, with YouBoob PIP.

I don't think I can make it through this think without dropping the f-bomb on this site.

people have different theological beliefs. I don't call anyone wrong when it comes to that. Yes men wrote it, revised it, heck they even voted on what got in and what did not. But if someone believes God worked through those men, that is their personal right.

Molon Labe!

Just look at all the different versions of the bible. If you take them literally they cant all be literally the word of god.

If you take it as mans recounting of the revealed truth thats another thing.

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
-Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777

I wish more believers studied the actual history of their Bible and their beliefs, why they came about and how they came about. But whether the Bible is the literal Word of God, the Inspired Word of God, or whatever, is an issue of faith, and faith is a personal thing.

I will even agree with you that there are things in the Bible that contradict each other. But even that does not prove anything. The Bible, taken as a whole, is believed by many to be the Word of God to his people.

Molon Labe!

That guy who asked that question was weird. Second, one of the major tenets of Christianity is that the Bible is God's word.

Just look at all the different versions of the bible

Different versions, yes, but those are translations from the underlying text.

are not the word of God as in a transcript, they are about Paul. But the Bible states when it is quoting God, and if someone believes that as his direct word, fine.

I think Americans, particularly patriotic southerners, have had a soft spot for New York since 9/11. I don't think this hurts rudy at all. Also, southerners, and Texans in particular, know a lot about bragging on their state, they respect others that brag on their states, as so few do.

Molon Labe!

Huckabee won.

Romney went negative. He was quick on his feet in his answers, but I'm not sure negativity is what Americans are looking for. He didn't seem authentic on some of his answers.

Rudy was pummelled tonight. Wow.

Fred was fine. I liked one of his jokes.

McCain did well too.

Major winners:
* Huckabee for dodging most of the bullets
* McCain

Major losers:
* Rudy

Romney: I feel like he is too defensive out there and he sounded a bit scripted, sad to say. He's still my guy.

Huckabee: No doubt he's very charismatic and his self-deprecating humor is amusing, but the guy is very out of step on the issues with the Republican electorate. He is going to get pummeled on immigration.

McCain: He did quite well, I thought. I don't like it when he goes negative, he has an angry, vindictive, and sanctimonious look about him at those times. However, overall, he did very good.

Rudy: Gave some good answers, and some very BAD answers, specifically on guns. The early mud slinging with Mitt didn't help I don't think either.

Paul: Every answer was outstanding except for his answers on Iraq.

Fred: Gave good answers for the most part....but, he looks like an old coot, he delivered them with no passion or conviction, he has very little charisma, and he looks like he doesn't really want to be out there quite frankly. He isn't going anywhere, unfortunately....and I do like him too.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

The "debate" must have been on both CNN channels. Headline News immediately cut to Nancy Grace on the hour.

I heard one of the "undecided Republicans voters" say she would vote for John Edwards over any of them.

One of the men liked both Huckabee and Hunter, but he couldn't remember their names without help.

Very representative Republicans.

The "Third Worst Person in the World" and aiming higher.

one of the questioners was a shill for Hillary. Was it the General? I never heard which one it was.

The "Third Worst Person in the World" and aiming higher.

Did somebody confuse the Republican debate with the Miss America Pageant or American Idol? (Or maybe Jackass?) When is the swimsuit and talent competition coming on? Was Cooper auditioning for the MC spot at the next Oscars? Over the first five minutes you might think, O.K., it's TV, you have to have the boffo opening to draw in the crowd. But in this case the expected audience doesn't need it.

Apparently, whoever devised this monstrosity wasn't told that maybe a little seriousness and dignity would be in order. Supposedly CNN("serious news network") hosted the debate. Maybe they outsourced it to MTV or the SPIKE channel. (I smell a "left-wing conspiracy"... haha!)

This is what I saw in the first 5 minutes and then had to vacate the premises:

First, you have CNN's version of "Let's Make a Deal". "Mitt, Rudy, McCain, etc., come on down".(no year's supply of eskimo pies for the loser here).

Next, we get a Sesame Street video montage with idiotic running commentary from the host of the show. After all that nonsense I assumed a real debate would begin. Then bizzaro world was ratcheded up a notch a bit too high even for me.

Even though I was dumbfounded and embarrassed almost to the point of paralysis I was able to hit the off button on my remote a few seconds after that guitar-strumming retard began his serenade.

I actually tuned in again about 45 minutes later hoping the silliness was confined to the start of the debate and within seconds an animated Uncle Sam had me reaching for the remote again. If Bugs Bunny calls in to ask a question please let me know.

I'm a Giuliani supporter but if any of the candidates come out after the debate and have the honesty to say they felt like an idiot responding to questions from cartoon characters and basement-dwelling("I confess") losers they have my vote.

Can the RNC sue CNN for malpractice?

The candidates may not want to get asked the questions in that one.
