The McCain Campaign

Fresh from sealing the Republican White House nomination, Senator John McCain will burnish his foreign policy credentials with a trip next week to Israel and Europe, his office said Monday.
Joined by two close Senate colleagues, Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham, McCain will visit Jerusalem on March 18, London the next two days, and Paris on March 21, according to a statement.
An Israeli official said Sunday that the senior US lawmakers would meet Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in Jerusalem.
This is a very smart idea. It helps keep McCain in the news and burnishes his national security credentials in the process. While Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama slug and fight for delegates, McCain looks Presidential. You really can't ask for better publicity than that.

Carolina----Graham does disappoint quite a bit. If he was the Senator from a state like Illinois, or even a state like Michigan, you wouldn't hear these complaints.
well Pennsylvania will trade you Rick Santorum for him.
He's pro-life, anti-gay rights and generally socially conservative. Santorum got thrashed in PA so would Graham. He's a good fit in SC and it's why he wins there comfortably.

Graham is more popular than DeMint in SC and even among SC GOPers. He is a conservative Republican Senator from the South who deviates on a couple issues from orthodoxy.
But if you want a Party that doesn't include people like Graham, then go join the Constitution Party and their 1-2% of the country.

Funny when Nancy Pelosi traveled to the Middle East last year we Republicans screamed- WHY? Joke! Foul!- its for Political Gain Only. Now McCain is doing the same thing but look at the reaction. Did Prersident Bush "Send" McCain with a message-No. Was McCain given Presidential Authority to Speak for the President-No. Then why is he going--PURE POLITICAL GAIN.
With Tax Payers Money, afterall this has nothing to do with his campagin, but he is going so he can LOOK Presidental and stay in the news. Then why is he taking his buddies Liberman and Graham with him. What do they need to personally see that he could not report back to the Senate without them. Can we be seeing a VP short list here? maybe/maybe not.
I fully get it Senator McCain, you need publicity and will do whatever you have to get it, even at taxpayers expense. What a shame. Is this how a Patriot acts or how a politician acts. Answer: Politician.
We have an economy tanking, open borders, no fence,no fence that works, military leaders resigning, no energy policy while prices continue to increase, free trade bill the President "says" is vital to National Security... and McCain goes to Israel/Europe to look Presidential-Goodness America Wake Up!! This man is obsessed with His Self Image and not what is best for America.
The best I can hope for from his "fact finding" vacation is that Israel shows him how to Secure A Border with a Hostile neighbor.
Keep up the good work my "friend" McCain but this is not how you get conservatives to vote for you.
Writing A Name In in November!!
I am not sure what your issue is, here. Politicians travel. That is standard operating procedure and allows them to fulfill one of their main functions. Would you rather only the independently wealthy politicians be allowed to travel, on their own dimes? I am sure it costs something, but do you really think this is the most outrageous? I believe it was the Boeing technological boarder fence that cost the government millions with no results at all. Isn’t that more outrageous?
If you recall, also, people were not mad at Pelosi because her plane tickets cost money. I do not even remember that being brought up. We were mad at her for paying Syria the dignity of a visit from a high ranking American politician. We were angry because Syria is currently murdering our allies in Lebanon and funding terrorists around the world.
I can see you are mad about immigration… but your anger on that issue seems to have clouded you memory and your judgment.

first of all, McCain won't be going to meet with Syrian leaders.
Secondly, overseas congressional delegations are quite common. Are you opposed to all congressmen going overseas?
I'm not sure what good Israel showing up how to secure a border with a hostile neighbor would be, since we don't have a hostile neighbor. Comparing Mexico with the Palestinians is a incredibly bigoted insult.
Pork by another name is still Pork. Something McCain says he is against. HA! Sure he will, as long as he can LOOK good it is ok. I get what he is doing and will not support it or him. He just continues to show us all what he will do, Spend Spend Spend...
traveling overseas in not pork. It is a diplomatic trip for an important senator and nominee for President to meet with allies.
Of course there is a political benefit to the trip, but that doesn't make it pork.
It is obvious from a lot of your posts that you have a personal issue with the Senator, so why don't you go and find a Reform Party web page to go vent on.
were supposed to point out issues that do not fit the conservative mold. I guess you feel , like McCain, free speech should be limited. Sad Sad Sad.
when there is a life time conservative alternative doesn't fit the conservative mold either.
Sad Sad Sad.
little makes me go all
lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala! I can't hear you.
I just don't even bother with his silliness.
You seem to have heard the word "pork" somewhere and decided to use it without finding out what it means.
This all strikes me as a touch of MDS. Intentionally misremembering news to bolster your argument and taking a great deal of offense over and everyday, practical and necessary government expense are both pretty clear signs of it. Some people are so afflicted that they could not accept it if McCain said 2+2=4.
Fair enough. Get down with the sickness.

Brush up on your history.
Among Pelosi's stops, was Syria. Syria is not an ally of the United States. No one was upset about her stopping in Israel, but talking with President Assad of Syria violated or came close to, violating U.S. law.

There is nothing wrong with visiting U.S. allies as McCain is planning to do.
You can feel good about McCain spending taxpayers money to look Presidential and keep his name in the headlines if you want. I call it PORK SPENDING. Something I thought McCain was going to fight. Guess his actions do not fit his words.
Have a nice day "friend"

As I point out here, this trip will re-inforce the image of McCain as Commander-In-Chief-In-Waiting while Obama & Hillary sling mud at each other.

McCain isn't doing himself any favors by hanging out with Lindsay (The Weenie) Graham, his point man for open borders. It just reminds people of why they don't like him.
