Fred Thompson spoke tonight in Connecticut. He addressed the immigration bill. His comments reflect those of many of the candidates already running — the American people don't trust the government when it says, "This time we really do mean it when we say we'll secure the border first."

Fred Thompson needs to truly declare for the '08 Presidency now and not wait until July to do so! The level of excitement for Fred Thompson and the entire GOP as a political party will definitely wane very soon after "More Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants" legislation is signed into law by President Bush! "More Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants" legislation will definitely mean good-bye soon to the Republican Party as a viable political party with any kind of political clout, good-bye soon to conservatism as a viable political ideology with any kind of political clout, and good-bye soon to the entire U.S. as a country and hello to the very socialistic North American Union in the near future as well as in the far future with no end in sight! All law-abiding people who truly exist throughout the U.S. and U.S. territories are profoundly punished and treated like crap forever thanks to "More Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants" legislation!
Every time I hear him speak, I only hear him from The Hunt for Red October talking about Russians and their compulsion for making a plan. That's practically enough of a reason to vote for him right there.

Ditto with JohntheBaptistmoore! Conservatives have been taking it in the shorts for too long and this is the final nail in their coffin. We need to have something to look forward to and someone to fight for. That someone is Frad Thompson because we are pretty much worn out and the Immigration Legislation to be signed by President Bush is the final knife in the back. He ought to forget about his legacy and try thinking about how history is going to remember how he turned on his own! His signing of this bill will all but kill the GOP. The illegals will do the rest.

I'd vote for Fred, but he needs to get in the race NOW.
I like what Romney is saying. He's against this horrible Amnesty bill too. Mr. Thompson, if you don't get in the race soon everyone will gravitate to Romney.
We do not trust you on securing the borders. It's a simple as that, we are not bigots and we do not want the death penalty for the illegals we just want our borders secured. I believe you when you say you hear us but like an insolent child you are not listening to what we are saying.
Some of the worse illegals who also are criminals anywhere in the U.S. and U.S. territories do deserve the death penalty! Many of these illegals are just "doing the crimes that Americans and law abiding legal immigrants simply won't do"! I don't want any special treatment, I just want to be treated like an illegal immigrant in the U.S.!

Fred Thompson needs to get into the race now. He is probably the only person out there that can resuscitate a dying G.O.P.

Clinton and Huckabee both from Hope, Arkansas.
Gore and Thompson both served in the same Tennessee Senate seat.

I'm not a fan of his, probably would vote for someone else if the opportunity arose, but I am in favor of reducing drive by hit and run jobs.

I don't think he needs to announce any sooner than that. Let Mitt Romney and John McCain destroy each other in June. There's no need for Fred to jump into the middle of that cat fight.
What's to keep people excited about the GOP at every political level as a viable political party after President Bush signs "More Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants" into law in June? If more amnesty for illegal immigrants does become a reality soon, then the level of excitement for the entire Republican Party will greatly wane for the long-term! What good will it be for Fred Thompson to get into the '08 Presidential race then in July if President Bush starts the dying of the entire Republican Party by signing "more amnesty for illegal immigrants" legislation into law in June?
The amnesty bill is a bad idea without secure boarders no question. However perhaps the world will keep spinning anyway?
I have total sympathy/empathy for your views but it seems like everyone who brings up the issue seems to think the world is ending. People have been bringing it up in every discussion even if it has nothing to do with what is being talked about.
