Today's the day for Greg Davis (MS-01)...
...and you have to wonder whether Travis Childers would prefer to lose.

Well, it's like this: Greg Davis (MS-01) and Childers are going to do this all again in November anyway. So if Childers loses, he can give it another shot, and hope that he can run without having to be linked too closely with Barack Obama (whom he's never met, remember?):
Tough to do if the Democrats nominate the man, but not outside the realm of possibility. But if Childers wins... he then becomes a super-delegate, which means that he has to do one of three things:
1). Support Obama. Greg Davis (MS-01) will have fun with those ads. So will I, for that matter.
2). Support Clinton. Thus outraging all those progressives that petulantly gave him money because they were told that you can't expect to run real Democrats in Mississippi.
3). Stall for as long as he can. Thus pleasing nobody, but giving him valuable early experience in how to be a properly spineless Democratic Party politician.
So, no real upside there.

I know that this is just a precursor to the general election 6 months away, but the GOP needs to win one of these special elections after two demoralizing losses in solidly Republican districts.
The GOP looked good for awhile, making a run with Jim Ogonowski and holding seats in Ohio and Virginia, only then to be skunked in ruby districts. We need to stop the bleeding here. Now.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
I give you credit for spin, but that's about all this is. Childers looks like a great candidate, and that ad would almost make me want to support him if I lived in the district. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Given the choice, would you really rather see Childers win today?
...no, actually I don't want the guy to win.
The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC. I've been usurped!
It doesn't matter, the GOP is stuck with the biggest looser of them all - Bush and Iraq War.

Hopefully the good Republicans of Tupelo who feel this seat is a Tupelo seat will not spite themselves and send Childers to be placed under Pelosi's thumb to be allowed to cast a vote only to raise the minimum wage and harass oil executives, while silenced on the people-powered progressive issues of church/state and homosexuals.
