Was The Romney Camp Behind the Politico Hit Job Today?

Shepard Smith interviewed Fred Thompson's Iowa guy, Bob Haus, today. And Shep suggested the Romney camp was behind today's Politico hit job against Fred Thompson.
You can go here and watch the clip. The funniest part is really Mr. Haus talking to Shep about all the nutty conspiracy theories he's had to combat.
Frankly, I think this story today might just piss off Fred Thompson enough to stay in regardless of tonight.

So Fred can get indignant and show character.

That makes no sense...he needs all the votes he can get. Coming out with a story like this on the day of the caucus will only make people that are voting for Fred think they are wasting their vote.
Looking very well groomed and very smooth on the topic.

Maybe that is because he is pretty used to the attacks. Let's see:
*He's just an actor
*Trophy Wife
*Organization in shambles
*Wife has too much control
*Not fiery enough
*No Substance
*Lazy
*Dropping out

Hitjobs by Poltico and Foxnews. Unfair treatment by the National Review and the East Coast Republican 'elite". Adversaries that are trying to actively defeat you. Oh the horror!
Please do tell, what on God's earth is Thompson going to do when the liberals, KosKids, Hollywood, the MSM and all the hate, venom and money of the radical Left is bearing down on him full bore for ten months of lies slander and vitriol?
This is nothing. I'm tired of these ridiculous anti-Thompson conspiracies. It's called politics. And it's bloodsport.
The paranoia about the Rombots being behind everything is just as funny as the crys of bigotry.
...maybe it was whoever was behind the push poll. There were certainly some nutty conspiracy theories surrounding that, you'll remember.
Fred doesn't play that way if you look at what he's done to date. Yes, politics is a bloodsport.
I don't believe it was the Romney camp. Actually, I would look to the Huckabee camp before looking at Romney. Yes, I know Romney has been caught up in some similar tactics but why would Romney want to push votes toward McCain, or toward Hucabee for those who just can't stand McCain, who is polling better in NH on top of the surge Huckabee has enjoyed in Iowa?
However, if Huckabee does something like this on the sly, he kills several birds with one stone, he siphons off some of Fred's possible votes toward himself while what might have gone to McCain from the siphoning wouldn't be enough to threaten his lead in Iowa and he puts the screws to Romney at the same time.
We've already seen what Huckabee is capable of with his negative ad which was not aired but aired. Because of the fact that Romney was caught engaging in those type tactics what would be the natural assumption for this time? And who would benefit most from such a move?
On the other hand, it could just be another Poltico made up story. In spite of what they say about the writer of the piece, Politico hasn't had a good track record lately concerning Thompson, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Because every single crappy thing that has happened in this campaign has come from or been the result of the Romney campaign while all the other campaigns have behaved like choir boys.
I hear the Knight's Templar were involved as well. Anonymous source gave me the tip.

Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock.

Shepard Smith is a tool. While I agree with him that the Romney camp was behind the piece (especially with the new rumors of Romney being behind the anti-mormon push polls), Shep went on to suggest that maybe the Thompson campaign was behind the story????? So while Fred is trying to calm everyone's concern about his fire and desire to win, he puts out a hit piece on himself that only serves to suppress his voters???? The insight of a baboon.
