We Never Govern Anymore

Can we please not have this? It's bad enough that we have the permanent campaign to begin with. It's even worse that now we are thinking about casting Presidential votes nearly eleven months before the actual general election in November, 2008. In the meantime, the Social Security crisis goes on unaddressed, the nation lurches towards an unworkable "universal coverage" solution to the issue of health care and, oh yeah, there are Iraq, Afghanistan and the general war on terror to continue to deal with.
I promise all and sundry that no one will know or care who held the first primary and/or caucus a couple of years from now. They will know, however, how we dealt with the issues of the day. I'm as much of a political junkie as anyone you will find but to everything there is a season and the Presidential election season should not yet be upon us in 2007. A little normalcy please?

To cut the numbers of eligible, registered voters that actually vote.
People will be so bloody Tired of the whole mess that they won't bother to get out there and cast their ballots.
The only question is, which party will be hurt worst by this?
"It's a book about a man who doesn't know he's about to die, and then dies...
...But if the man does know he's going to die and dies anyway. Dies, dies willing, knowing he can stop it, then...
Well, isn't that the type of man you want to keep alive?"
