Will The Real Barack Obama Please Stand Up?

Either he does indeed owe Austan Goolsbee an apology, or Obama really is a protectionist and therefore antediluvian when it comes to trade issues. If the former, then Obama ought to issue his apology, back NAFTA and free trade and announce his support for the U.S.-Colombia trade pact. If the latter, then he should stop making protectionism sound like an affliction of the yokels who don't know better. He can't quite have it both ways, now can he.

As for the rest of Obama's commentary on small towns in Pennsylvania, well, I think that it will be very interesting to see just how much small town America likes being condescended to. You know, even if people don't live in cities with skyscrapers, they still vote.

What are we to make of Obama's comment. As I re-read it I am really wondering what he is suggesting. "...it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Does this mean that Obama instead advocates that small town people release their bitterness and

a) give up their guns,
b) give up their religion,
c) stop being racist,
d) embrace illegal immigration, and
e) embrace free trade?

I thought he was recently campaigning to say he wasn't really against guns as he was previously. And does he really see religion only for bitterness? (His, yes) And does he really see small town people as racist or just what does he mean by "antipathy to people who aren't like them?" Plus, does this mean he now supports NAFTA?

So Obama thinks small town Americans have become gun nuts, bible thumpers, protectionists, racists, and xenophobes out of economic frustration? Is there such a thing as foot IN mouth disease?

AzRenegade

certainly seems to have people categorized by his own prejudices. He thinks it is impossible to evolve into a compassionate liberal human being if you are unemployed. But then, who wants to be liberal?

Typical Politician.

He is proving to be one. He says one thing in private or small settings while spewing garbage in public.

Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.

The best part of this whole implosion is watching the libtardosphere spin its wheels trying to figure out how to dig out of this hole. Typical comments:

"I don't see anything wrong with what he said!"-
We've been taught that its not what is said, but how someone takes it. Your failure to see what's wrong here also may indicate a problem with your perspective more than a lack of grounds for offense.

"He told the truth!"- At least the libtard version of it, giving us a clear perspective into the candidate's mentality. If he thinks this is how TWP are, do you think we want you as our president?

"HRC/VRWC/the-boogeyman must be behind this coming out!"- Yes, the shadow conspiracy used their mind control lasers to make him say what he did, and then made sure to plant one of their operatives into what was otherwise a secret inner-circle meeting.

"it's out of context", I translate this to "if you listen-to/read the whole speech, your mind will be too numb to pick out the BS".
