Call me nuts, but when you throw together an event explicitly designed to try to convince your supporters to give money to retire a former opponent's debt - isn't it a good idea to not forget to put that request in your actual speech?

Apparently not:

Obama briefly forgets to urge help for Clinton
By BETH FOUHY – 11 hours ago

NEW YORK - It was all part of a careful arrangement: Democrat Barack Obama would get fundraising help from his erstwhile rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in exchange for his help retiring about $10 million of her campaign debt.

But Obama momentarily forgot his part of the deal at a major New York fundraiser Wednesday night, forcing him to retake the stage after he had concluded the event and said goodnight to the audience.

The Illinois senator spoke to about 1,000 donors in a Manhattan ballroom, all of whom had paid at least $1,000 to attend. Many were Clinton supporters until she dropped out of the race last month.

Read on.

See also Time's The Page, The New York Times, The New York Post, WJS's Washington Wire, The LA Times' Top of the Ticket (which almost got the quote; best of the bunch, but I couldn't trim the meat down and keep to fair use), Bloomberg.com, Newsday, and The New York Daily News. There's a wide range of coverage above, ranging from "Oops" to "Subtext: Idiot" - so pick which one you like.

For my part, it's not so much that Barack Obama's a bad person - I mean, not a bad person like Josef Stalin or Pol Pot or Leopold II of Belgium. I don't think that he'd approach the level of a Robespierre or a Guevera or a Ibrahim the Mad, either. I'm even willing to entertain the possibility that Senator Obama means well.

But he just doesn't seem to want to think about other people these days.

Can the media get more self-parodying with its bias this time?

Clinton got screwed again by her bad business partner Obama.

She helped him raise over $5 million overnight in NYC, what did she get in return from Obama's wealthy donors? I have not heard any substantial donations from Obama's donors to help her retire debt.

Obama needs Clinton badly in raising money. His small donors have been either tapped out or burned by this FISA bill, and the income well is drying up. His wealthy donors have also maxed out. The only major source is Clinton's wealthy donors.
I don't believe Clinton wants nothing for return while helping him raise big money.

Clinton got screwed..

Barack and Michelle went home and had a good laugh over that. He so dissed HRC at that event.

Hope is not a plan. Change is not always good.

or at least, that's what they told their respective countrymen when they held their mass rallies in the big sports stadiums and promised to restore their countries to greatness by following their hopes and dreams. And so what if a few eggs got broken making some omelettes, it was for the good of the country and would restore their honor in the world.

I don't care whether or not you mean well. I care whether or not your policies promote individual liberty. Obama's don't. The only fascist bit missing from his rhetoric is the part where you get to kill the people you don't like.

That's just plain stupid. They must not have had it on his teleprompter.

McCain for POTUS so the left can't ruin SCOTUS.
