Bob Latta needs our help in OH-05. There is a special election there on December 11th. The race is within three points. Latta is running against a huge lefty.
Latta and the Lefty are within 3 points of each other in the polls.
Bush won the district with 61%, but given the GOP brand right now in Ohio, the lefty is coming on strong.
Latta could use some cash and if you are in Ohio, he could use some people power on the ground.
The DCCC is so eager to win this race, they started throwing outright phony ads on television that the networks pulled because the lies were so extensive. But they are keeping at the smears.
Let's put Bob Latta across the finish line.

....by subsequent polls? I only ask because I haven't heard anything about this race. The Ogonowski race was national news when it was this close. Everything I've read says Latta will win in a walk. I do agree that we can't take anything for granted - I'll send him some cash.

I live in his ditrict and I can assure you that I will not vote for Latta. Unfortunately I am an abandoned Republican in the late great state of Ohio. I think we deserve somneone like Robin Weirauch. Please tell me how her policy statements are so different from the Republican actions in the state, which includes Latta's support of Taft. You act as if Latta is interested in limited givernment. His record clearly identifies him as another big government Republican. Perhaps he thinks compassionate conservatism is the answer to our problems in the state, however, I disagree. Ohio continues its oppressive march to becoming a socialist state with the help of the Republican party. My conclusion is that it is better send the real thing to DC. We need a real socialist. Not another so-called conservative.
...to a seminar caller on Rush. "I'm a lifelong Republican, BUT......"

This is so off-kilter it might actually be for real. You'd have a hard time making something like that up.
Gentlemen, you have indicated that I am a 15 minute wonder and a seminar caller, yet, neither one of you have attempted to disprove what I indicated about Latta. Just look at his policy on agriculture. Would you agree that the agriculture bills that continually pass in Congress are an affront to conservative belief? Yet, Latta is in favor of increasing the pork in the agricultural support programs. Guess what...so does Weirauch.
I am sorry that my view of Latta upsets your delicate dispositions but I will not vote for another Republican who claims a mantle of conservatism and rejects that same claim through his/her actions.
As for the disparaging remarks: I guess I am no longer a 15 minute wonder. On the claim of being a seminar caller...St. Louis send me an email with your phone number and I will call you back with my name so you can check with my local board of election in Williams County Ohio that indeed I have been a registered Republican for over 25 years. In fact, I originally voted for Latta [against Gilmore] to replace his father. Perhaps you should be more careful with your conclusions.
The interesting thing here is that Weirauch is an outsider running against an insider candidate. Kinda feeds into Barone's de-alignment theory.
Is there a non-porker ready to take him on in the regular 08 GOP primary?
Because he is a Big Government Republican who promoted Gov. Taft's tax hikes. Now Latta wants conservatives to lift a finger for him? Me thinks he better think again.
Latta beat the CfG supported candidate 44-40 in the primary.
I'm torn on whether he deserves our support. OTOH, he's no conservative and there are plenty of candidates more deserving of our limited resources. OTOH, he is the Republican candidate and it will look bad for the party as a whole to lose in a heavily Republican leaning district.
