When you are a Republican in Mississippi running for Secretary of State with a name like Delbert Hosemann, you really need your first ad to stand out from the crowd and probably go on and get the issue of your name out of the way.

I think this does that quite well.

literally...that was great.

Made me laugh, and he comes off great.

Here in Mississippi we don't remember yankee names to well.

Delbert is a yankee name, and he is carrying a heavy burden because of it.

Barack Hussein Obama has the same problem.

Tongue firmly in my cheek, sort of!

Like from the 1700s? Or today? Because I don't recall going to school with too many Delberts.

...was from Maine.

My last name, of course, is even more French. Don't remember any Delberts from my ancestral homeland, which borders on the OP's state.

We are all heroes, you and Boo and I. Hamsters and rangers everywhere, rejoice!

We've got a state senator from Southwest Missouri and a blues/country musician from Lubbock, Texas as the two most prominent Delberts in the country, at least according to my google search.

So yeah, I'm gonna vote against the Yankee theory.

Ah, the internet. Making pointless conversations like this possible.

Like I said, only one I've ever known.

Oh, yes, I did just challenge The Google.

To anyone bold enough to challenge The Google. The near omniscient/omnipotent nature of the tool might smite you down on its own, and if you are strong enough to escape punishment from it, who am I to challenge you as a mere mortal.

Is that his momma?

No, that is a professional actor provided by the crew that did the ad.

Great ad!

You must have missed this:

Tongue firmly in my cheek, sort of!

Actually "Delbert" was second choice to "My name is Sue" by
Johnny Cash.

How do you do?

Jokes aside, my prayers go out to those families affected by

I'm on my third Diet Coke now, though. My chances for missing sarcasm from here forward are declining by the sip.

Also funny (to me anyway) that he needs to address the issue of being a good Christian in order to run for chief vote counter. But then again I'm a yankee.

That's the best example of someone overcoming adversity they had no control over that I've seen in a long time.

I hope he wins just because of this ad.
