The Democrats, Counting Their Chickens

It's Not Nice to Measure the Drapes 'Til After Election Day

Two items crossed our desk recently which indicate that the Democrats are already counting their post-election chickens. The first came in the form of an e-mail invite to a fundraiser last month from Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA):

Subject: Lunch on Sept. 26th

I want to renew my invitation to you to join me for lunch on September 26th to help me raise campaign funds which, as you know, I am using in substantial part to make sure that the next time we talk after that, I will be the Chairman in Waiting of the House Financial Services Committee. [Emphasis ours.] I am told that this link will direct you to a copy on the invitation:

The second came in the form of a job posting that says in relevant part:

Position Available: Committee Science Policy Professionals

Vacancy Announcement Number: MEM-355-06

Office/Location: U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, D.C.

Closing Date: Until Filled

Salary Level/Range: Commensurate with experience

Proposed Starting Date: Immediate

_____________________________________________________________________________

Job Summary

House Science Committee is seeking experienced Science Policy Professionals for possible expanded Democratic committee staff in the 110th Congress....[Emphasis ours.]

Applicant Instructions: Please fax resume to 202 225-3895.

They are surprising for their intimations of gaining the majority. Usually, folks don't measure the drapes 'til after the votes are counted. Guess we don't need the election, as the result is apparently pre-ordained. Clearly the MSM thinks so.

"Who will stand/On either hand/And guard this bridge with me?" (Macaulay)

I'm horrified by this email!

He is clearly "Asking you out to lunch"
Not to mention "offering you a JOB... wink wink, nudge nudge"

I'd be careful of this Barney Frank Character! Sounds like he is trolling for something.

project(ile vomit)ing, can they?

dance troll, dance

is seldom good policy.
Screw 'em.
We have an election to win.

needs to remind the other side that thier is a reason they play the games as opposed to picking the winner based on stats.
Maby it is judt me but I am feeling preety good about the next 25 days. If Foley was thier best shot across our bow so be it. I rally think we are going to suprise. I also relize that no matter what (unless we pick up seats) it will be spun as a loss. But I think thier will alot of dissappointed dems out there.

Anything less than taking at least one house of Congress will be spun as a failure by the Democratic leadership themselves. After all, you can't have a scapegoat unless you also have a failure to justify it...

The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC.

the case and they fail to pick up at least one house the implosion that we will see will better than the Fourth of July. I hope you are right. Now that you put it that way, pherhaps by us not allowing them to win either house this year could be crippling blow to them in 08.
