Tom Kean For U.S. Senate

While the bad news about recent elections in New Jersey may involve the election of Jon Corzine as Governor, the good news is that Corzine's departure from the Senate made the Jersey Senate seat competitive. It was thought that the elevation of Robert Menendez to Corzine's Senate seat would help ensure Democratic control, but Menendez's current ethics problems and the fact that New Jersey has become a state more receptive to Republican overtures has Garden State Democrats potentially in something of a panic.
All of this would be notable enough in a year featuring frequent reassurances by the denizens of conventional wisdom that an irresistible tide will sweep Democrats back in power in Congress. But it is even more notable that independent of any problems the Democrats may be having, Republicans have an excellent candidate to compete in what once was a state dominated by Democrats. Tom Kean's background is the kind we would want more of our politicians to have. Experienced both in the political world (where he is a leader in the New Jersey State Senate and where he served in leadership roles in the Assembly) and in the world outside of politics (where he served as a volunteer fireman and a member of an emergency medical team), Tom Kean brings a wide range of experience to bear in his service to the state of New Jersey. He has both the savvy to guide him surely through the halls of power and the perspective to ensure that no amount of political power causes him to lose touch with his constituents.
But all of the experience in the world won't amount to a hill of beans unless we get Tom Kean elected to the U.S. Senate. And to get Tom Kean elected, we need to contribute. Here's where you can show your support for Tom Kean and other worthy candidates. Won't you contribute, now?

Is a reason I smile every single day.
That being said, Kean is dramatically underfunded. Hopefully the much villified NRSC can step up to the plate for him, and folks here do what they can as well.
He'll never be Tom Coburn, but golly, he won't be Bob Menendez. From my dear home state, that sure is saying something.

Let's call this what it is, a unique opportunity to achieve six years of Republican senatorial representation from a state that, in almost any other year, with virtually any other candidate on either side of the ticket is a Democratic lock. This is not a "purple" state, this is an exasperated state. Let's just hope that we can take advantage of their outrage.
