"We Can't Possibly Lose . . . Unless Diebold MAKES Us Lose!"
"To The North, I Present Nancy! Your Undoubted Queen! And Don't Let The Voting Machines Tell You Different!"

Tuesday's election could go either way, but I guess the following line from Nancy Pelosi was to be expected:
Pelosi cautioned that the number of Democratic House victories could be higher or lower and said her greatest concern is over the integrity of the count -- from the reliability of electronic voting machines to her worries that Republicans will try to manipulate the outcome.
"That is the only variable in this," Pelosi said. "Will we have an honest count?''
I'm really sick of this "heads-we-win-tails-you-lose" rhetoric. Just about every single recent Democratic electoral defeat--and boy, there have been a lot of them!--is coupled with intimations from people who ought to know better stating that the vote got stolen from the Party of the Right and the Just. I take more than a little bit of umbrage as a do-nothing opposition campaign goes out and claims that the only possible barrier to victory on Tuesday is the stealing of votes by nefarious Republicans. Fatuous nonsense. As amazing as it may sound to Nancy Pelosi, she and her party can and do lose elections legitimately. And if they come up short in this upcoming election, they should blame themselves before they blame Diebold.
People should be insulted by this kind of rhetoric. The voting public is being told that there is no possible way that it could vote against the Democrats. Their votes are being taken completely for granted. One wonders whether Nancy Pelosi is engaged in a campaign, or a preemptive victory tour. One wonders as well whether a Republican Congressional leader who makes the "either we win or they cheated" claim would be able to get away with such comments or whether he/she would be pelted with sneers and attacks from the mainstream press claiming that Republicans are being arrogant and presumptuous. I certainly have my suspicions as to how such an early victory lap by Republicans would be treated.
Now, Democrats are engaged in an early victory lap. And most of the votes haven't even been cast. I thought we were actually supposed to hold this election instead of having Nancy Pelosi play up to conspiratorial sentiments without any evidence whatsoever for her smears. Apparently, however, the would-be Speaker has different ideas and would prefer a coronation to an election.
If you like such arrogance, I guess you have your candidate.
If not . . .

With all this "confidence" by the MSM and the Dims of a big Democrat victory, if you were anything but a hard core dem, why would you make the effort to vote? Just as if you "knew" you were going to beat the Dolphins, why would you bother to bring the A game?
I see all this confidence as suppressing Dem turnout.
Also, if you were playing a school yard game and some kid always accused everyone of cheating and stealing the game from him, eventually you would just kick the crap out him.
Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.
since about 3 out of 4 corruption problems involve the Democrats. Especially since it's not enough to overcome the normal voting of the electorate.
I am getting very tired of this kind of defamation from the Democrats without a peep from the Media regarding the past voting problems (We all know it, the dead, the duplicates, the lawyering). Of course with the Medias help, only they can keep up the assault.
Can't we just get out the obvious Democrat voting problems of the past and bypass the media bias...?
I am getting very concerned with the lack of voter identification, especially with all the dead and illegals voting.
Only the Democrats refuse to allow Voter Identification for voters...(Understand of course)...
I think Pelosi is being misread.
This isn't the beginning of her coronation, this is the beginning of the excuse-making for why they didn't take the House and Senate.
As we are seeing with the closing polls, which have all been tightening, and the generic ballot closing up (significantly), we knew all along that the prospect of Dem takeover(s) would be difficult.
I see two signs here that the Dems are beginning to question this themselves:
1. Statements like Pelosi's - starting to lay the groundwork for the "why we failed" backpedaling.
2. The polls themselves. The MSM is now starting to poll based on realistic breakdowns of voters. After trying for months to skew polls democrat and suppress R turnout, and demoralize the right, the press has realized their scheme is likely to fail, so, in order to play the CYA game, the weekend before the election, they gen up a slew of polls that (we hope!) reflect a more accurate voter composition. None of the MSM wants to be reporting Tuesday night that the GOP has held both houses and they completely missed it.
So, either this is a reverse conspiracy, designed to bring a sense of complacency to our base, or, it's the beginning of a huge mea culpa...
Curious other thoughts?
The Liberal's definition of torture: Anything that provides useful information from the enemy
But Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004 argue differently. All I can say if its a close loss for the Dems expect them to go to the courts. Boss tweed is reputed to have said "the counting stops when we win", there doesn't seem to have been any change in dem tactics.
I'm starting to think the same thing - why would she bother making excuses in adavance unless she was sincerely worried about failing to win the House?

They can read the true temper of the country, and they know that a Democrat failure to win control of both the House and the Senate in this election is going to render them irrelevant.
The failure to "take back" both the Senate and the House -- if it happens (and the possibility looks increasingly possible) -- will lead to a bloodbath in the Democratic Party as the moderates and Blue Dogs turn on the Liberal wing that has been calling the shots. The only hope that Pelosi and the other Libs have of avoiding a total purge as the Dems head back to center is to distract attention with lawsuits and conspiracy theories.
The in-fighting for the "soul" of the Democratic Party after a loss on Tuesday (and I use the term soul loosely and with irony), will probably ensure that they lose in '08 as well since they will not have time to regroup and unite.
I don't think this has anything to do with a strategy to try to keep Republicans home. I think the Libs have woken up to the fact that the end is near for their domination in their party. They need an excuse to avoid taking blame for losing despite a "perfect storm".
I hear tell that Rothenberg and Sabato have turned tail and are runnin' like Bluebellies at First Manassas....
Pelosi is starting up the Excuse Machine.
I have this pet theory. Dems will win JUST ENOUGH SEATS to turn the Sekula-Gibbs contest into Recount Hell. Houston will be inundated with Suits and Motion practices and we will spend the next forty days debating the "intent of the voter" in Texas Election Law. Tens of Millions of dollars will be poured into this one Houston District.
It's just this recurring nightmare that I can't seem to shake.
"History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it"-Winston Churchill
Russert cited Rothenberg, Charlie Cook, and Evans-Novak as giving Dems huge victories, control of both houses. I heard Sabato squawking on FNC this afternoon (in the car, on XM satellite).
If the Republicans hold both houses, at that point, I could not care less about the "Netroots"; they're background noise. My problem will be with the mainstream media AND the pollsters. The pundits, perhaps they should just quit whining.
But we'll see how it goes Tuesday. If they're all correct, good for them. Living to fight another day on this end.
...although from a different perspective. As Hugh Hewitt says, "If it's not close they can't cheat". Well, it's close and they can cheat. The only "variable" is how many fanatic Dem goons and minions she can convince to risk arrest as they commit massive poll fraud. Sure, they may face fines or imprisonment in a few months, but the election results which they effect in their party's favor will likely stand. Nancy's just wondering how many of the faithful will heed the call to sacrifice.
Not solid core. These. And buy lots of them. I have a hungry teenage son.

when the dead emerge from their graves long enough to vote for their local Democratic ticket?

I saw the news about Saddam, and I told the wife, I bet the liberals will somehow say this was orchestrated by the administration to help in the election.
Well I went to a few forums and guess what, it only took about five posts.

please don't bother voting, we're just going to steal it anyways. No need to take time off of work, wait in line just so Diebold can switch your vote to Pat Buchanan.
Just as every cop is a criminal, and all the sinners saints - Sympathy for the Democrats
Some judge will just declare that voters must write in Pat Buchanan (spelled correctly) in order to cast a vote for Jerry Falwell.
Retire Lindsey Graham. Support Thomas Ravenel for Senate 2008
Heh, if only they would listen to you... Unfortunately, they will try their darnest to steal it before we even think about trying such an outrageous stunt (for the Republicans).
Formally known as deagle.
Democrats spiked the ball on the 10, and the Republicans recovered the ball.
Pelosi wouldn't be suddenly talking about this issue if she didn't know that the Democrat Party was going to lose.
They spiked it thinking they were in the endzone, but they'd only crossed midfield.

If you're seeing shades of gray, it's because you're not looking close enough to see the black and white dots.
As Rush says, all the pollsters have suddenly begun to tighten all the polls. They have to save face just in case there is a loss.
do respect to Rush who I agree with him on damn near everything. The pollsters are like the Drive By Media they think we are a bunch of rubes who don't know any better.Look at the drop in the circulation of the major newspapers, you don't think they know whats causing it? they know. they don't respect the everyday hard working person out here in flyover country. They are trying to influence the election just like the Drive By Media.
.....that’s exactly what there doing, however at some point they have to try and save face. They can't predict a massive windfall and then fall short.
If they begin to alter their polls and news stories, if they ARE wrong they will have saved face.
I haven't taken a poll at face value since, oh, I guess about 1984. I figure they're all slanted toward Dems by 3% or more. Now in most races, that doesn't matter in choosing the winner. But when the electorate is pretty much within that percentage, the polls are worthless.
Pelosi is setting the predicate so they can go into the courts and try to reverse their ballot box losses just like Gore did in 04. Keeps making "Tricky" Dick look more like a patriot everyday. He knew the Chicago polling was fixed, and probably could have proved it in court. He still decided not to pursue the issue for the sake of the country.
They don't care, the drive by media needs us to read their rags but they don't give up on the liberal bias that's what getting at they don't care about credibility
It might be the Dems whining this year, but they are at least identifying a real problem, if not a real culprit. These machines can be hacked and cannot be audited. When Pelosi talks about the Republicans using the machines to steal elections, what she really is thinking is, "When I'm Speaker and Hillary is President, we can use these machines to make sure we NEVER get voted out."
What goes around comes around. Sooner or later, it will be Republicans worrying out loud about these machines. There ought to be a bipartisan effort to fix them or get rid of them before someone gets into power who really will abuse them.
Is that a subtle accusation of fraud?
