I agree with the message, but has he been drinking? Seemed to be slurring a little.

Because for some people, they get emotional when they talk about their love of their country. Bush does too. It scares me that a politician doesn't have emotions or feelings when talking about 3,000 dead Americans from 9/11 or why we need to protect our country or fund the troops.

It scares me when people like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama can cast a vote like they did with the only intention being to excite the far left of their party.

he'd be doing the last call "I love you man". "there's a lot of colleagues up here me"

Is foreign to you, I know. Try doing it once and you may understand how Boehner felt.

Good luck on your senior trip.

For some politicians it's about beliefs, values, and principles. For other politicians it's about BS sound bites, poll numbers, and earmarks.
It really IS easy to spot the difference.

with all the congresspeople not to like over this illegal immigration bill, he appears to be one of the good guys.

Maybe it's me...
But I can't shake the feeling these days that our republican representatives have finally had enough of getting that proverbial sand kicked in their faces... tired of being perceived as too passive to stand up for what they believe in and not having the courage to say or to admit aloud what they really feel... and it's about time... and it feels so good to finally start hearing them speak up... It feels so damn good to hear the fire of emotion and conviction in their voices.
It's like Michael Wilt said... "It scares me that a politician doesn't have emotions or feelings when talking about 3,000 dead Americans from 9/11..."
Maybe it was a good thing they got smacked last November. Msybe it was a good thing to be humiliated... humbled...
Maybe it is good they were knocked from their lofty places in order to return to the values they lost sight of while they were up there.
Yeah... maybe it was a good thing.

"Even when you fall on your face, you're still moving forward."

But I don't think we're ready to come out of the wilderness just yet.

Boehner is apparently making steps in the right direction with his apparent views on the immigration bill and fighting to fully fund our troops, but there's still a long way to go.

We'll see. I hope for the best, but I don't want to get too optimistic just yet.

But the only way to rock a boat is to have someone with enough courage to stand up.
It's a start.
... and maybe there are a lot of people out there getting tired of bad news and having the loudest voices being those that never seem to have anything positive to say.
Maybe the reason why so many polls show so many Americans feeling discouraged is because most of what they hear is negative. It's hard to stay up-beat when everything you're told says, "don't bother".
All I know is how good it feels to watch that little clip. Hell... I've watched it 6 times already... and I've e-mailed it to everyone I know.
Like my grandma use to say, "Don't keep the faith... share it with everyone you meet."

"Faith"...
It's one of the hardest things to hold on to and one of the hardest things to stop.

"Even when you fall on your face, you're still moving forward."

I still have the faith, but my point is that while John Boehner is right on this and on immigration, he's still missing the point about intra-party corruption (i.e., Calvert). I want him to get it; I seriously do. But if those in Congress don't get it together fast, we're in a heap of trouble in 2008.

In order to share the faith, there has to be a package worth selling, you know?

One bad apple makes the whole bunch rotten... and covering it up don't hide the stink.

Can you imagine how much MORE effective Boehner's message would be if he also stood up and said, "By the way... Calvert?
We've got some serious work to do... and I'd like to start with you. Get lost!"

That would disarm the democrats and showing voters that while "they" give America lip service... we give them action.

Time to lock and load!

"Even when you fall on your face, you're still moving forward."

Everything Congressman Boehner said is on target. After losing 3000 neighbors, we certainly need to stand up and take on our enemies. With that said, I don't understand why we don't leave Iraq and go do just that.

Are you suggesting that we leave Iraq and go to Iran (their neighbor and our enemy), or bring the troops home to deal with our neighbor to the south?

Soldier's Mom - Golfer's Wife - Home alone a lot

I'm asking why we are not aggressively going after OBL for the atrocities of 9/11 instead of remaining in a country(Iraq)that has no connection. I'm assuming that Congressman Boehner was referring to defending ourselves and taking a stand against the perpetrators of 9/11. I absolutely agree. So, let's get out of Iraq and do so.

I guess I suspected the depth of your ignorance regarding the war in Iraq before I asked for your position. Once again I must remind you why we went to war:

"Almost no one disagrees with these basic facts: that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a menace; that he has weapons of mass destruction and that he is doing everything in his power to get nuclear weapons; that he has supported terrorists; that he is a grave threat to the region, to vital allies like Israel, and to the United States; and that he is thwarting the will of the international community and undermining the United Nations' credibility."

We went to war to stem the above mentioned threats, Iraq is NOT stable yet, and we don't leave our work before the job is done. My son and his fellow troops are committed to staying until we can leave Iraq a better place.

Oh, by the way, the above quote was taken from the Senate's 2003 war resolution written by John Edwards - yes the same one vainly attempting to become your next president.

I'll not engage in battle of talking points or cut and pasted quotes out of context. I too felt the same as Mr Edwards did in 2003. That doesn't apply, at least not to me today, as other facts have materialized. In addition to my prayers that Mr Edwards doesn't become our next president, I pray for your son and fellow troops as well.

Some people have the courage to stick with their convictions when things get tough. Others don't.

The quote could not be more in context, or more applicable. However, you showed more than a little sense and class in your closing sentence. We don't see that much.

Boehner is so right - Some in the Vietnam era said the same thing, that if we did not take care of the enemy there and then we would regret it. We now see the truth of that in this time as we lack the courage as a nation to defeat the enemy. They have seen our failure to win, and are now exploiting our lack of resolve.

The only strategy that will work in Iraq, the only one that ever works with a bully, is a devastating blow that undermines their morale, and decimates their ability to wage war. We have the finest military on the face of the earth, we have the weapons to flatten training camps and safe havens for terrorists, and we hold back in the name of appeasement of our critics at home. Folks, this is the current strategy in Iraq, it is not working and it is getting fine young men and women killed. It needs to stop.

We do not need to set a timetable for Iraq, we need to do the job right! It begins here as we, conservatives, wage war on the propaganda that passes for news, and urge our leaders to unleash our defenders.

In that video we just witnessed a true patriot and man who loves his country. As a grown man I almost cried watching him. It was so inspirng seeing him up there pouring his heart out. It must of been amazing in the hall. Did you hear the applause he received after he was done?

This is something that only republicans feel. Love of country, love of fellow man (not in the gay way) and passion for this great country.

John Boehner presented himself as an important role model and leader in that videotape and we should all take off our hats to him.

Thank you Mr. Boehner for being an inspiring leader.
