Did I Mention That A Few Members Of The Family Are Dysfunctional?

In which individual members keep having to watch their backs:

Rep. Steny Hoyer acknowledged Sunday he was seeking assurances from incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi that she would not retaliate against his supporters after he won the No. 2 House leadership post.

Hoyer, D-Md., insisted there was "no bad blood" with Pelosi after she publicly supported Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania for the job of majority leader. Hoyer said he was confident Pelosi would not punish House colleagues who voted 149-86 last week to make Hoyer the majority leader when Democrats take control in January.

"We're going to talk about that," said Hoyer, when asked whether Pelosi had made promises not to retaliate by denying choice committee assignments. "One of the reasons it's going to not happen is that there are a lot of them."

Perhaps. But there is a flip side of that coin. The incoming Speaker may believe that the large number of Hoyer supporters just gives her a target-rich environment to wreak mass vengeance.

Pass. The. Popcorn. This should be interesting to watch.

Pelosi's term as speaker will allow Americans to see a female in a big leadership role. Seeing how she started, it is obvious she will not handle it well at all. Some on both sides are already calling her "the wicked witch of the west". Will Americans want a "wicked witch of the east"?

Remember, the wicked witch of the east was killed when the "house" landed on her. Is Nancy's house going to fall on Hillary?

Your Word is your Worth, your Worth is your Word

Theres nobody like your own family to know where your buttons are.

I hate the trait in either a man or a woman, but she has that syrupy sweet, altogether fake, screw-you smile that makes hers seem all the worse. I feel sorry for the suckers that have to try to kiss up to her to keep their committee assignments. This is a beast that will not be sated. Feed me, Seymour.

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.

Steny runs the HOR. I'd like to have his job. Nancy gets the blame, Steny writes next year's Congressional Budget.

2006 is done, 2008 is another day and another fight

Haven't even really taken over, and the Dems are already imploding.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of crooks.:)

On Fox News, I believe it was Newt Gingrich who suggested that House Republicans force a vote on the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee.

Is it possible for the minority party to influence committee chairs? If it is, this would be the place to try, because we don't want an impeached judge getting classified national-security secrets. Could Republicans unite with some Democrats who fear Hastings to vote (for example) Jane Harmon as Intelligence Committee chair?

The bad news: Conservatism is hard to sell. The good news is that it works.
