Speed Kills Effective Policymaking

The new Congressional majority just got through appointing its people to the Congressional Budget Office. Having been appointed, the CBO staff can now be safely ignored.

And all without anything resembling a Congressional hearing. I realize that being in the majority must be fun and all, but it doesn't mean that you can just pass huge and consequential legislation without . . . um . . . studying it.

No, being in the majority is not where the ability to pass laws without even knowing what they say comes from. It just comes with the territory. And, well, you know, politicians will be politicians.

Ever heard of THE READ THE BILLS ACT?

Harry studies the lines in his face, Ted studies the bottle, Chuck studies the TV camera, Barbara Boxer studies Don Rickles Book of Insults, they all study comic books and NY Times editorials, not necessarily in that order. Who says they don't study ?
