House Democratic leaders are not expected to pressure embattled Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) to forfeit his lone remaining committee assignment, even as two Republican lawmakers who similarly face intense FBI scrutiny have relinquished their posts in recent days.
Evidently, you need to log in to read more and alas, I don't have a login. But I think we get the picture from the brief excerpt above. So much for promises about "the most ethical Congress in history." If this dramatic departure from ethics helps the new majority in Congress face the same fate that the old majority faced thanks to its perceived ethical lapses, no one can say that the masters of the 110th Congress didn't have it coming.
