White House Invites Bloggers to Budget Briefing

Another milestone for bloggers covering public policy

The White House has invited four bloggers to today’s briefing at noon with OMB Director Rob Portman to discuss the fiscal 2008 budget. I’ll be on hand with Bill Allison of the Sunlight Foundation, N.Z. Bear of Porkbusters and Andy Roth of the Club for Growth.

This marks another milestone for bloggers covering public policy. As I’ve written about before (here and here), bloggers are having a significant impact in Washington, D.C. In the past, I’ve credited House and Senate staffers, but the man who deserves praise today is White House Internet Director David Almacy.

Stay tuned for a complete report later today.

I realize that the WH is incorporating Iraq and Afghanistan into the regular budget submission for the first time this year, but 2.9 trillion! And the Dems are complaining about "painful cuts" included in the document. Would that there were any cuts at all!
