A Three Paragraph Explanation For What Is Happening In Zimbabwe

In the event that there are some who wonder why it is that the results of the recent presidential election in Zimbabwe have not yet been released, consider the following passage from this article:

Under electoral law a presidential runoff must be held three weeks after results are released. So the longer the results take, the more time [Robert Mugabe's party] ZANU-PF has to organize.

Analysts believe Mugabe will use his control of state apparatus, including the security forces, as well as pro-government militias to intimidate MDC supporters.

Former colonial ruler Britain and the United States, both of whom have applied sanctions on Mugabe and his top officials, have criticized the election delay and suggested it could be the precursor to a rigged result.

Just one question: "Could be the precursor to a rigged result"? I think that it is safe to say that there is an active effort on the part of Mugabe and his cohorts to rig the result. We can dare to say as much without qualification at this point.

Of Zimbabwe ? Or are they calling Liberia a colonial empire ?

"Former colonial leader Great Britain" and "the United States"
not all as one

I don't think that they intended to include the US as colonial leader...they should have reversed the order.

Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.

A little hair trigger on my part. Though I have no doubt that the press considers us evil over Guam and Samoa.

Tyrants like Mugabe are like mold, hard to remove. I hope that he can actually "get gone" & stay gone, & the people of Zimbabwe can enjoy a little sanity for a change.
