Another Iranian walkback?
It makes you wonder who we found in Iraq.

Fresh on the heels of the news that the Ahmadinejad regime has halted running guns and explosives into Iraq (as noted by Constant Reader gamecock) we see this piece of news:
Iran seeks uranium enrichment in neutral country
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tells Dow Jones Newswires he will consult with Arab nations on a plan to enrich uranium outside the region in a neutral country such as Switzerland.
"We will be talking with our (Arab) friends," he said in exclusive comments to Dow Jones Newswires on the sidelines of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries' heads of state summit in Saudi Arabia.
Under a proposal put to Tehran by the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council, a multinational consortium established by the GCC would provide enriched uranium to power plants in Iran, the Middle East Economic Digest reported earlier this month, citing Saudi Arabia's Foreign Affairs Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal.

If true, either is an excellent piece of news; if both are true, we've just got a lot of pressure taken off of us. And by "we" I include the population of Iraq.

"Who will stand/On either hand/And guard this bridge with me?" (Macaulay)
...joined the rest of our homeland MSM in trying to 'not rock the boat' of the next election in the hopes that a more dovish occupant will be able to move into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Seduction of the American People, not confrontation with, is the order of the day.
Just how dovish is the MSM, you say? Two years ago, the History Channel (affiliate of A&E Networks, the home of Breakfast With the Arts, and controlled by whom: ABC? perhaps) stopped running their usual military fare. A program entitled Inside the Great Battles: Iwo Jima, used to run on the order of every four months. Saving Private Ryan would run on or about every June 6th. Band of Brothers(E Company, 506 PIR,101st Airborne) was a regular three monthly programming
event.
The latest fare: Modern Marvels, Ice Road Truckers, Mega Disasters, UFO Stories, America Eats, and lastly, Planet of the Apes. History indeed. This used to be the only place, besides the libraries, where the American People could go to learn just how difficult and challenging the road to Democracy was; and just how costly maintaining our freedom and values has been over the years.
Apparently, even to the History Channel, Freedom is Free, or at least it is up until the next election is decided.
Watch out for Ahmadinejad's head fake though.
The Islamofascist fighter has the same tenacity, the same creed as the WWII Japanese Bushido Fighter. "The Japanese died, the Japanese DID NOT SURRENDER."
I suspect that the History Channel doesn't think 'Freedom is Free' so much as it thinks 'Gee, this history stuff doesn't really get a lot of viewers. How about... Mega Disasters! That will be popular!' And they are probably right.
As for Ahmadinejad, my understanding is that most Iranians see him as needlessly provoking America while failing to address domestic and economic concerns. Perhaps he is responding to that?
