Ah, for the days when TimesSelect meant that the Pundits could frolic through the Fields of Idiocy undisturbed.

There is only one real possible response to this nonsense by Frank Rich ("The Coup at Home", forsooth)(H/T: Jules Crittenden and AoSHQ). Specifically, the bit about how we're "a people in clinical depression":

No, I will not apologize. This is precisely the response that Rich needs. This is clinical treatment.

Read on.

Personally, I blame this travesty of an article on what can be best described as the journalistic equivalent of a virgin field epidemic. I refer, of course, to TimesSelect; while they may have thought that they were increasing the value of their product by keeping the proles with their keyboards and bad attitudes from seeing any of it, what they were actually doing was wrecking the immune system of any poor so-and-so who got trapped writing behind the NYT Subscription Wall. [Frank] Rich must have been gasping for both breath and attention by the time that the Wall went down.

The "merits" - and I'm being kind by giving it scare quotes, for the record - of the article can be dismissed fairly quickly: Jules did the heavy lifting so I wouldn't have to. Suffice it to say that we are not in the process of having some sort of creeping coup at home. If we were, we would be seeing some of the events going on in Pakistan going on in the United States... which would include things happening to people like [Frank] Rich, in order to shut him up. Granted, the easiest way that I can think of to effectively shut him up would be to reinstate TimesSelect, but that's just humoring his worldview.

You know something? It's rainy as all get out, we had a power failure last night, and I need to get the house cleaned - and it's still a beautiful morning.

Just saying, Frank. Welcome back to the world, by the way; and just think of all of this as you getting your booster shots...

I have never been so pleased to have my speakers turned off.

of your post right to that loser.

Americans know that the ideals that once set our nation apart from the world have been vandalized...

Me, I'll go a step further and argue that from Rich's vantage point, he should have continued that statement with;

....by the secular left in America. Vandalized and violated by race peddlers, do-gooders, and those who specifically love socialist ideals and hate the traditions of America. We are in a state of clinical depression because the left in America have made everything a new "syndrome" with the drug companies not far behind with a new pill to fix it all; so now, having a bad day when it is raining outside is defined as "clincal depression", here is your pill (that may give you suicidal tendancies, have another). Now, Americans are banking on a Presidential candidate (Hillary) who is in bed with the Communist Chinese who want to alter our elections, and she is glad to help again!

This guy is Rich is an idiot. Does anyone really read this tripe? He seems like a spoiled kid who says things that he doesnt mean just to piss off those who he disagrees. Seriously, this man is still hungover from the 2000 elections. Someone call him and tell him that the template has changed for the Left; most are aware that the "No WMD" argument is a losing one and has been proven over and over again to be just as disingenuous and irresponsible, lacking tons of accountability on one side (theirs of course) as any argument that they have made against this War. Someone at least get him on the right page with Harry Reid.

The post and video are perfect though!! I cracked up.

Not only is Frank Rich a week late with this topic, he took a lot of his wind up from Maureen Dowd's column earlier this week. You can look at them both and see the similarities.
