This really explains a lot. Please compare this
"You know [Cheney's] been a disaster for our country," Carter said. "I think he's been overly persuasive on President George Bush and quite often he's prevailed."
With this
"I'm filled with admiration for Condoleezza Rice in standing up to (Cheney) which she did even when she was in the White House under President George W. Bush," Carter said, referring to Rice's former role as White House national security adviser.
Considering how many of our foreign policy disasters have been State Department induced, I would be surprised except for the fact that this is Jimmy Carter we're talking about -- a man who who has chronically seen evil in angels and good in devils for more than three decades.

"Stuck on Stupid" for 3-decades and still can't shut his overused pie-hole.
Sad, really - that we elected this idiot in the first place, that is.

Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock.
The progressive Left wanted Reagan to be silenced when he was running for re-election in 1984 at the age of 73, saying that, at such an age, he was already losing his mental faculties.
Now they're parading Carter out at any convenient moment as the "conscience of the party"... and Jimmah is 83.
Just something that came to mind, and a rather odd double standard.
"I don't understand why the same newspaper commentators who bemoan the terrible education given to poor people are always so eager to have those poor people get out and vote." - P.J. O'Rourke
I hear people voted for Carter because he seemed like such a nice guy. He had great smile, I've been told.
Of the three Dem front-runners, Obama is the nice one. Clinton and Edwards seem sleazy, but Obama doesn't. People just think he's inexperienced or naive.
What if the nice guy wins again?

Typical tactic:
Praise someone on your opponents team for being so much better than the others.
Hopefully you'll cause dissension among your opponent, at worst you come off looking like a reasonable person "Oh my gosh! He praised a Republican!" and can make the nonsense you are spewing seem more credible.
Jimmy Carter, as President, had the worst instincts and judgment of any President ever, especially on foreign affairs. He was almost always wrong!!!
Considering this, we should evaluate his statement using the George Costanza rule from Seinfeld - "If every instinct I have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right."
Thus, the truth of the matter is that Cheny is doing a great job, but Rice isn't. (My apologies to Rice, but that is the rule.)

Rev. Al Sharpton demands he apologize by Friday or else.
