The NRCC Wants Your Money . . . To Give To Ken Calvert [UPDATED]

[UPDATED] The NRCC has deleted the link and all information about this fundraising event. However, I just called and the Capitol Hill Club confirms that the event is still scheduled for tomorrow evening.

Isn't this rich.

Maybe we should all show up dressed as pimps and hoes, or FBI agents.

Let's not dance around this issue -- this is a fundraiser where the ranking Republican member of the Appropriations Committee will be on hand to make sure lobbyists show up and hand over cash to Ken Calvert.

So much for Republicans caring about ethics. Remember, call John Boehner today.

I'll only give to specific campaigns. General funds are generally corrupt.

is on a page with links to four articles about Democratic corruption. These idiots are beyond belief, you just couldn't make this stuff up.

Aside from Mitch McConnell, the leadership of our party is seriously out of touch with their base right now. John Boehner is alright I guess, but he sort of represents the "old guard" of the party. With all do respect, we need fresh new leadership who is in touch with their core constituency, the conservatives. I was quite disappointed when the House rejected Mike Pence, Shadegg, and Cantor in favor of Boehner & Blunt. The fact that they are now elevating people like Ken Calvert to leadership positions is mind-boggling.

It's pretty obvious to me now that George W. Bush is no conservative and his crazy positions on issues such as immigration are destroying the Republican party and the conservative movement. I hate to say it, but he is an obstacle for conservatism right now. I'll be ready for a clean break with this current crop of leaders.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

As you point out, the people in there are by and large not the picks of the conservative base.

Matter of fact the current leadership are those that feel being too conservative cost them the majority.

Did they move it, hide it, or cancel it?

I went to the main Events page and scrolled as far as June 18. Calvert is not on the schedule.

Be not afraid

I bet they are thinking no one will notice, these idiots are beyond reproach. Each and every day they do something else that just screams in your face "we are smarter then you" and the disgusting part is they really do think they are. They are liars and crooks and the only way to change the culture of elitism is TERM LIMITS, nothing else will make it change.

maybe it's best to just burn it all down

haystack's 12th:
Conservatives (and Presidential Candidates especially) shall offer no aid and comfort to the opposition in times of legislative conflict (and ensuing political campaigns).

the GOP is the opposition. what's worse, known enemies or "friends" that constantly stab you in the back?

...to address this.

Which he will.

The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC. I've been usurped!

"Conservatives (and Presidential Candidates especially) shall offer no aid and comfort to the opposition in times of legislative conflict" I think that rule was broken with the illegal immigration bill, don't you? I want to give examples; McCain, Graham, Specter, Martinez, Bush and on and on. I don't think us rank and file conservatives should be held to a larger "moral" code then the "leaders" of our party, do you?

They have no morals would be the answer to the question posed above.

Yet another rock in the bag that is sinking us.
Where has my Republican party gone? We are hyper spenders, responsible for the creation of massive beuacracy (DHS) and have enough elected officials that are, for lack of a better word, corrupt. We cut taxes and then proceed to spend money like there is no tommorow.
I generally beileve that we deserved to lose in November and perhaps it is the case that we deserve to lose in 08. I do not subscribe to the notion that failure should not be rewarded with re-election simply because I support the team with "R" next to its name.

This party is in desperate need of new leadership.

Have any of you, including Erick, ever given money? Raised money? Done anything but beat your keyboard for the conservatives?

Sounds like you want power within the party in exchange for mindless re-telling of published articles. I don't think that that's how it works, tough guys.

Ask for the crown when you do something to get someone elected. Until then you should practice being humble.

/it's a great view from the cheap seats

You must be unfamiliar with us. Yes, I've given money -- in fact over the past two campaign seasons a good bit -- though usually $100 or less to various candidates.

So, what's your point?

Oh, and I've raised money too. For others and now for myself.

You're making yourself out to be a real idiot coming on here and saying that the folks who write here - both contributors and commenters - don't donate to, volunteer for, and work for Republican candidates. Just dumb.

Just so we're clear - the only reason that you're still around is that you've been a very useful idiot by spreading around your laughable conspiracy theory about Erick and the NRCC (which is somehow related to his campaign for the city of Macon city council). People have covered it because there's nothing so entertaining as a clueless tinfoil hat wearer, and that's gotten Erick some good press (which he hasn't asked for here).

But let's be clear: your usefulness has probably run its course. So now you're just an idiot. And those don't last here long.

You can either be civil (around here, you're RedState poster jr. or you can be gone) - makes no difference to me or to anyone else here.

Some of you seem very upset by my points. You should be. Attention is a lovely thing, but earning it is hard.

Attacking your own party in the name of "we lost the majority" is a valiant cause. Too bad you think we lost because of supposed wide-spread corruption. That is not why we lost and nobody could care less about Calvert's past. He's not in jail now and not under ACTIVE investigation anymore.

While you "bloggers" sit around trying to make a name for yourself picking on your own (playing right into the liberal media's hands. They love to see us fight amongst ourselves), the democrats are gaining in popularity every day. Nobody is doing enough to bring to light their trials and tribulations!!!

Every ego driven shot Calvert is wasted ink. You aren't the party. Believe me, you're only relavant because the party lets you be relavant. Republicans don't exist because you let theme exist - You exist because they let you.

I've thrown out your calvert issue on my radio show several times... Nobody cares. I have democrats call my conservative show to ask about Murtha!!!! That's what you should be talking about.

Don't let RedState become a few fascist dudes with big egos who want to controlt the message. You will be forgotten as fast as you were discovered. It's pretty darn easy to create a new conservative blog home.

You're a radio guy. Gotcha.

Moe

PS: Give in to the Dark Side, dude. Go for that fifth exclamation point.

The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC. I've been usurped!

Explains a whole lot, doesn't it?

To change the channel on the AM dial. Also remember - your show is as ephemeral as a fart (and probably as helpful).

Again, save your self-righteousness for the mirror, bubba. Lack of principles, including coddling corruption, is why we lost in 2006. If you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.

And don't ever, ever imply that most of us around here haven't sacrificed more for the cause than you can ever comprehend. And that sacrifice, certainly in my case, is sure more than an hour of time on some forgotten radio station in west Texas.

I worked the polls for Caldwell Butler in the 6th district of Virginia when I was twelve years old. He carried my precinct. I have attended rallies, given money when I did not have it, displayed bumper stickers, written letters to the editor and defended candidates and positions in places that you wouldn't dare go.

I have done things to get people elected, and have supported, chauferred and encouraged people, sometimes paying a personal price, that didn't have a snowball's chance.

Do let me make this clear. That dog ain't hunting here, Tex, and you can take your cute little post and stick it.

Got it?

If you haven't, you've done nothing, and we do MORE than just beat our keyboards...and I ask for nothing but responsible government.

Most dangerous words in the world: "I'm from the federal government and I'm here to help" - The Gipper

is that they click really loud when you step on them. They don't go off until you move your foot.

Your move Bubba.

Nothing from you on my post on PP in re. to talking to Linder... Thoughts.

I never thought I'd say this, but thank God for Mitch McConnell.

Sorry Bull. I did a front page post yesterday linking back to your original.
