Federal Jobs Illegal Immigrants Can’t Do
The President Gets It. Better Late Than Never

President Bush modified an Executive Order from the Clinton Administration yesterday to effectively bar illegal immigrants from working jobs on the Federal dole. All Federal contractors will now have to register for the Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program and check the status of all their workers and subcontractors’ workers before starting work on Federal contracts.
The E-Verify program is the bane of civil liberties and open borders groups because it uses the Social Security Administration’s database to actually cross check the often times fraudulent or stolen numbers provided by illegal immigrants on their employment applications. A Federal Court in San Francisco, natch, blocked part of Homeland Security’s program in a lawsuit filed by the ACLU, the San Francisco Labor Council, and the strange political bedfellows of the AFL-CIO and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. That ruling, issued by Supreme Court Justice Steven Breyer’s brother Judge Charles Breyer, has prevented the Social Security Administration from sending out over 140,000 “no match” letters to employers. The letters would have required employers to take steps to verify their employees’ identities within 90 days or else fire the workers.
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said at the time that the ruling did not amount to a “holiday from law enforcement,” and that the Administration would do, “as much administratively as we can, within the boundaries of existing law,” to continue to crackdown on illegal immigration. The president rightfully took a lot of criticism from the right for his backing of the Senate’s disastrous “comprehensive” immigration bill, and many have been skeptical of the Administration’s stepped up enforcement of illegal immigration laws in the wake of that compromise’s failure in Congress. Sen. McCain, too, a champion of the Senate bill, professes to have seen the light on illegal immigration and now calls for securing the border before taking up any immigration bill. Yesterday’s move to secure federally contracted jobs for American workers is evidence that the Administration does get it, and is another huge victory for opponents of the comprehensive approach to immigration reform. Sen. McCain can show that he gets it too by pledging not to alter or rescind the order if elected.

Yeah.... see, they're here illegally.
Their status is illegal.
If we can bend the whole "who is allowed to be here" rules, especially for the purpose of 'making things cheaper' . . . why not bring back slavery?
Have you seen how illegal immigrants live? Have you seen what little they get in pay?
Slave Labor has a new face. Rather than a shirtless black man in chains, it is now an illegal immigrant painting a house.
End Neo-Slavery. Enforce Border Security and already existing illegal-immigration laws.

Because immigration is a choice- slavery wasn't. I tend to side on more choice/more freedom.
As bad as it is to live picking tomatoes or cleaning toilets, its better than living in Mexico.
My grandmother grew up in a "home" with dirt floors and no running water. She became a live-in maid for a rich family in the US (illegally) and it was the best thing to happen for her. She married a native born American and raised a very successful family.
It wasn't slavery for her.

So, you don't have a problem enabling people who choose to do something illegal? Illegal immigration is, after all, illegal.... as is identity fraud (giving fake SSN).... as in hiring someone who is illegal....
What other illegal things will you favor enabling? I'm sure there are people who diddle little children who'd love to be enabled. Of course, people who steal would like to be enabled...
I mean, they're breaking the law, but they're choosing to so it is ok, right?

Well, that's probably very true, though I don't see what that has to do with why we should enable illegal immigration. I don't see why the poor choices made by the corrupt Mexican Government should be used as a reason to enable illegal behavior.

...9/11 hijackers/murders in that group who wanted the choice to break the law and remain here illegally. I mean they were only here to express themselves in a manner that was wholly unacceptable where they came from.
Don't forget the 6,000 people who have been killed along our border and the 60 or 70 americans who have been kidnapped along the border.... reason enough to crack down on illegal immigration.
But then, they're just coming here to sell drugs.... why should we deprive them of that ability just because it is against the law? I mean, things are so horrible in Mexico that they have no chocie but to come across our border in mexican military vehicles, armed with machine guns, shooting their way across in order to transport pot and other drugs.
They're just selling the drugs that no one else wants to sell.

... of the victims of rape and drunk driving committed by people who are here illegally. I supose drunk driving could be construed as a cultural norm in many parts of the world so I am sure the liberal left will give that a pass in the name of multiculturalism. rape is easily explained away as "hey if she did not want it she would not have been out side".
The real crime is drawing attention to the crimes they committ. They're just here to work and live a good life...
Frankly, if a person doesn't respect our immigration laws enough to follow them, why is it I should expect them to respect ANY of our laws?
Since when can we pick and choose what laws are ok to break?
This pro-illegal immigration stance is picked up FAR too much in the church. I've even heard people suggest that illegal immigration is ok because Jesus was an illegal immigrant (pure bullhonkey, but that's another matter) and that it is evil and mean for people to want immigrants to follow the law by entring legally.
I just keep thinking of a bible verse that says that he who cannot be trusted with little will never be trusted with much...
if someone won't even follow immigration laws, why should I trust them at all?

Following the law, abiding by the law and supporting the law is “work” that illegal aliens just won’t do.
Two different groups have emerged in America today due to the effect of illegal immigration, those who have to obey the law (citizens) and those who don't (illegal aliens).
Legalizing an illegal alien’s presence in America by rewarding their illegal behavior through amnesty is not the way to build a good system of law and order. It only invites more criminal activity and more avoidance of our laws.
We tried 'comprehensive immigration reform' in 1986. We gave amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens in exchange for the government promising to secure the borders, conduct workplace enforcement and enforce immigration law. It didn't work because the government lied and did nothing other than process the amnesty paperwork. Due to that folly, we now have 20 Million or more illegal aliens here demanding amnesty. Don't you think it is far beyond time that we engage in Comprehensive Immigration ENFORCEMENT rather than Comprehensive Immigration Reform?
Get on the phone, fax and e-mail your Senators and Representatives and DEMAND that they engage in Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, not reform that awards amnesty.

The more we become a nation of illegal immigrants, the deeper we fall into anarchy.
Remove the cookies and you won't find the child's hand in that cookie jar.
Dry up the jobs. Crack down on the employers (As in, GiNormous fines for first offense and mandatory decade in prison for second offense) who hire illegal immigrants. Have the same law apply to those who knowingly rent to illegal immigrants.
Pass a federal law saying that any state that knowingly funds 'undocumented workers' via welfare programs or tuition programs loses federal funding for 5 years per instance.
Pass a federal law to amend the consideration for becoming a citizen by birth... require that at least 1 parent be a citizen and the other must be on a legal track to citizenship.
Pass a federal law that provides for our military to guard our southern border, specifically to combat the drug transporters who are coming across in armored vehicles with guns blazing.
Then.... have the spine to enforce such laws.
You'll find that fences and walls won't be necessary. Those who come here to live will find no means. Those who come here to transport illegal drugs will find themselves dying of acute lead poisoning.

Illegal immigration...it's mainly about these things:
An endless supply of cheap labor from Latin America and a goal to integrate these workers completely into our country to totally destroy our native and legal workforce. By making us totally powerless through enfranchisement of third world masses, a whole new uneducated population is created that can be led to keep particular political groups and politicians on top. Political power and cheap labor for business are the real reasons immigration rights groups are opposed to immigration law enforcement and successful immigration enforcement programs.
We are looking at a radical shift in politics and an upheaval in American demographics resulting in the disenfranchisement of most current native American citizens and legal immigrants that have achieved citizenship.
There are no borders in the global economy of seeking out the cheapest labor possible. There is no allegiance to America by the merchants of destruction who seek out every dollar for their pocket at the expense of the American taxpayer and worker who bear the burden of these uneducated, mostly illiterate, transplants.
Thomas Jefferson saw it coming over 200 years ago when he said: “Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains.”

Addiction to cheap labor causes myopia, tunnel vision and mental disorders. The disease of addiction to cheap labor cannot be cured; it can only be controlled. It is an insidious disease that manifests itself in those that embrace illegal aliens into the work force. Those individuals addicted to cheap labor as a means of their existence must be quarantined; otherwise other weak minded, spineless and other easily infected populace could be infected with this horrible, debilitating disease.

That doesn't mind the fed using the cheapest labor available.
