And so it begins.

More accurately, and so it begins to end.

Remember how we were first entertained by all those protesters against the First Gulf War (the phrase No Blood For Oil didn't originate in 2003)? And how the core groups that spawned them effortlessly went over into protesting the liberation of Afghanistan (Not In Our Name is likewise more than four years old)? And then how those same groups equally effortlessly started up on the Second Gulf War (and liberation of Iraq), never dropping a rhetorical stitch?

Yeah. About that. Don Surber reports that they're putting together a march to protest the upcoming war on Iran. It's called Stop War on Iran - lose the spaces and toss on an .org if you actually want to check these enthusiasts out; they've got all the Usual Suspects, too - and they're ready to stop that war, baby. The fact that there actually isn't a war with Iran right now is apparently as relevant to them as the oddity that they will be diverting resources that they could be using to whine about a current war in order to whine about a potential one. Which is to say, not relevant at all, apparently.

I'd like to note two things: first, I agree with Don (and, I guess, Jules Crittenden). This is a tacit capitulation from some of our loudest complainers that maybe they actually had gotten things wrong. Again. Second (and this is directed to our lurkers). I won't lie and say that I hate to break this to the antiwar movement (I am actively enjoying breaking it, in fact), but I do have to break it to you: if George Bush was planning to go to war with Iran, he'd say so. You people aren't worth lying to.

You never were, in fact.

As long as we're playing "remember when" with the anti-war people, whatever happened to those people who went to Iraq prior to the invasion and offered to serve as human shields in places like schools, retirement homes, and hospitals?

As it turned out, Saddam was (a) not particularly interested in protecting those places, and (b) didn't really beleive those where the kinds of targets the US would be going after. Instead, he wanted these nutbags to sit around places where the Americans were actually likely to strike - power generation plants, communications centers, command centers, and the like. The "human shields" tucked thier tails in and ran for Kuwait. It was possibly the funniest bit of political theater I've seen in my lifetme. Naturally, the MSM gave the "deployment" a lot of coverage, and the endgame very little.

Seems to me that right now, the people that the US is fighting in Iraq are EXACTLY the sort to target rest homes, shools, and hospitals. Maybe the gray ponytail crowd should go back to Iraq and see how well Ghandi's tactics work against the much-misunderstood "insurgent freedom fighters" and thier peace-loving puppet masters in Iran.

don't result in the mass deaths of pacifists or anti-war activists is in the West. We should be shipping International ANSWER off to Iran and Syria by the C5 load. It would be fun to have a NYT reporter in the crowd too. He'd need live feed though, because the real tyrants wouldn't let the film get shipped. Even in the body bag with the reporter.

CongressCritter™: Never have so few felt like they were owed so much by so many for so little.

Remember the old joke about Nixon and Cruschev arguing over which system is better? Nixon says "Americans are free to protest the actions of thier government, and Russians aren't", Cruschev repiles "That's a lie - people in my country are also free to protest the actions of the American govermnent".

I'm sure Kim Jong Il and Ahmadinnerjacket would have no trouble at all hosting a group protesting American war-mongering. Of course, they'd all be escroted to the border (or shot) as soon as the camers stopped rolling, in order to prevent cultural contamination, but that's another story altogether.

They foresee the future of Iran, whether the US or Israel.

Formally known as Deagle... "Golf is a way of life..."

Funny, my wife and I were driving down Route 66 in Albuquerque this past weekend, and the median was full of protesting lefties holding "Save Iran" signs. My these nutters are organized.

Save Iran? What happened to Darfur? Have they already moved on?

It seems they have lost the ability to enrage citizens, so their movements die. That must be why they have to make such outrageous statements these days.

But when a bunch of aged hippies resort to little rhyming catch phrases like 'Bush lied, kids died', I think most of America tunes out.

It's embarrassing.

lol.......If anyone with a web address can pick a country to save, I choose ARUBA!!!

Please USA don't go to war with Aruba....
Let me get my flowered shirt, and go protest.

"The only place where "pacifism" or "anti-war" activities don't result in the mass deaths of pacifists or anti-war activists is in the West."

That might change some day......

True, still it might be worth it if only to maintain some tactical advantages in the massive surprise strike when the time comes to teach Iran the lessons they failed to learn in WWII.
