Pathetic is as pathetic does

As tempting as it was, initially, to just launch into some frothing tirade against Pelosi and Reid and the Democrats, all I have come away with after reading the links I'm about to share here is a profound sense of sadness and disappointment. Our poor and misguided friends on the Left have lost their way.
It seems to me now that the GOP's loss in 2006 was NOT a one-way ticket to the wilderness so much as a resounding thumping from the Team Owners and a trip to the minors for a season so they could regain a little humility and the third stringers could get some real work in the bigs (and quit whining to their agents about not getting any quality time with their adoring fans).
It's the Democrats who are in the wilderness now...lost in a sea of incompetence and ineptitude with no map, no compass, and no clue how to read them if either were airlifted in to the poor souls.
Team captain Pelosi, when in the Minority of the 109th Congress said this about a New Direction for America:
With integrity, civility and fiscal discipline, our New Direction for America will use commonsense principles to address the aspirations and fulfill the hopes and dreams of all Americans. That is our promise to the American people.
Hmm. Promises-where have I heard THAT word before?
Let's check that against reality below the fold...
Lacking integrity ("in his freezer" Jefferson) civility (Pete Stark) and fiscal discipline ("porker" Murtha), displacing 'commonsense' with nonsense (lemme raise taxes or I won't fund Veterans ), and determining to fulfill the hopes and dreams of all Americans by paying for it using increased tax revenues from things they want us to stop doing to ourselves (SCHIP), the Democrats have shown they're not up to the task of leading America in a 'new' direction; frankly they're not capable of leading America in ANY direction, truth be told. They have completely failed themselves, their donors and constituents, and the country.
Were they capable of comprehension they'd apologize and get on the Greyhound headed back to the AAA dugout from whence they came. Arrogance and foolish pride keeps the Democrats hanging on. It's kind of sad, actually...nostalgia sometimes takes egotists to very dark places. They inspired SO many people too, only to let them (and we grown ups) down.
When you look back at the Democrat's 100 hours/100 days drivel you find some twisted romantic comedy you might see on the back shelves of a second hand bookstore with a picture of [gulp] Fabio on the cover...sorry for the imagery there. It's a complete work of fiction. They tout all these really kewl things they voted on, but a trip through the Congressional Record shows gosh-darn (second option for words) near NONE of them being signed into law. Who CARES what they voted on? I voted for Kinky Friedman for Governor...is he actually Governor? No. Sheesh, have Nance and the kids ever even heard about which road that was that was paved with good intentions?
They made a LOT of promises. They have broken just about every one and, in their new emperor's clothes, they think they're STILL doing a bang-up job despite what the rest of us think.
The GOP Leadership couldn't disagree more with Nancy's claims of success, and I'm here to tell you sports fans this list is far short of the real tally...it's more like the 7th inning stretch-there's a whole lot more of this game to be played.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has a nice wrap up that suggests the Democrats are running on empty. I would have to agree with their assessment:
One year ago, voters placed their expectations on the shoulders of Congressional Democrats, and they’ve failed to deliver. Democrats’ inability to get anything accomplished, coupled with their growing list of broken campaign promises, has left the American people exasperated with this majority,” said NRCC Communications Director Jessica Boulanger. “Only on Halloween would Democrats attempt to trick voters by masking their abysmal record and do it with a straight face. No amount of smoke and mirrors will prevent the American people from registering their disgust with the incompetence of Democrats in Washington at the ballot box.
We have had a great deal of bickering within the GOP of late over our ultimate Presidential choice...fine-we can ALL agree we have better choices than what the Democrats are offering up. The bigger point in the close here is that, whoever moves into the White House, that train wreck just down the street needs some serious fumigating. The Congress needs to flip-and if the performance of the Nancy and Harry freak show hasn't been enough to convince anyone of that...we're ALL in a whole heap of trouble.
I leave you with Linda Ronstadt...I always liked this song-now it carries "meaning"...

What will be very interesting to see in the coming months is if the conservatives and independents have made note of the insanity that has taken over in the House & Senate, with their inept leadership, and if it's enough to rally them to vote Republican in the '08 elections. We allowed this to happen with our over reaction to the "Republican scandals". They were bad and punishment was deservedl. But when we completely abdicate our principles and agenda, and turn over both Houses to the Dems, then shame on us. I don't need one party rule, it's too intoxicating. What we need is strong conservative representation in Congress that keeps the liberals in check. And we cannot be so disgruntled with this President, that we opt for Hillary, or sit the election out. Aside from everything else we must contend with, we must remember what lies ahead with the Supreme Court - it's crucial.
It's not amazing how the Democrats and their myrmidon sycophants in the mainstream media promised a whole new world, and they haven't deliver on ONE promise yet. It's just politics as usual, and their constant pandering to the far-left kook fringe of their party. The more I see of their agenda, the more parallel it is to "The Communist Manifesto". Higher taxes,(Confiscation of wealth), government handout programs, (redistribution), and so on. It's no wonder that Congress' approval ratings are at such an all-time record low, I'm just wondering if we'll get to see her party's approval rating drop into the single digits? I doubt it, because I'm sure their lackeys in the MSM wouldn't even think of publishing it. Maybe the Democrat takeover could turn out to be a wakeup call to Republicans to stay true and loyal to their base, and to conservative voters to get to the polls on election day, or the jesters and the village fools will stay in power! "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last." Sir Winston Churchill

They promised to fulfill the hopes and dreams of all Americans? That was ambitious. No wonder their approval is in the tank. Maybe next time they'll promise something a little less sweeping... a chicken in every pot perhaps, or a hamster in every cage. Chickens would be good, especially for Democrats, because chickens don't have any lips with which to say, "No new taxes." Although there is a certain hamster-like quality to the way the Pelosi Democrats run in place without ever getting anywhere.
Count me as another one who isn't all gloomy and doom-y about our chances in '08. The media are of course pre-announcing the coming Great Victory of the Democrats, but they do that every election. As for their polls, their polls had Mondale (who would win only his home state and the District of Columbia) tied with Reagan.
The Democrats have barely been in power a year and already the economy is going into the tank. Events in Iraq are making liars out of the bunch of them. Their presidential candidates are promising to bring back Hillarycare, which cost the Democrats control of the House for the first time in 40 years. I fail to see what the Democrats have done that the public would want more of.
