Lt. Gov. John Garamendi(CA): Scumbag Of The Day Award

In today's WSJ Political diary [subscription] Harry Reid fought for the title, but lost it all the same to California Lt. Governor John Garamendi...though it was close til the finish.
Reid:
Speaking to reporters yesterday about a pending energy bill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared: "As you know, one reason that we have the fires burning in Southern California is global warming. One reason the Colorado Basin is going dry is because of global warming," the eminent scientist explained. But Mr. Reid apparently realized he had overstepped and was already revising his theories a few minutes [later], claiming to a reporter: "I didn't say the reason the fires were burning in Southern California was global warming."
But, continues the OpinionJournal, "the prize for boorishness goes to California Lt. Gov. John Garamendi:"
"I've got some doubt about the value of President Bush coming here [to witness the California fires]," he told MSNBC's Chris Matthews. "How many times did he go to New York or to New Orleans and still made promises but has not delivered?"
Mr. Garamendi, who was just warming up, also managed to insert the Iraq War in an interview about his state's wildfires: "How about sending our National Guard back from Iraq, so that we have those people available here to help us?"
Mr. Garamendi also opined there was "no doubt" that a presidential visit would distract from fire-fighting efforts because of "all the chaos that comes with whatever the president" is doing.
Due to the family nature of this site, I can not add commentary that would not violate posting rules. I can say this, however, regarding the relentless diversions from appropriate behavior on the parts of elected Liberal officials - these people are scumbags of the worst sort.
To seek political capital on the backs of ordinary Americans as they suffer a crisis of (for them) EPIC proportions is the most vile and disgusting thing Liberals could do-yet they just rub their hands together PRAYING for a moment of human suffering so they can do it all the same.
To scumbag Lt. Governor John Garamendi, all I can say is... you really suck. The people of your state who so desperately need you now continue to suffer while you get a little camera time.

Every time Arnold Schwarzenegger goes skiing in Colorado, or visiting the President of Mexico, or anything like that, Garamendi assumes the powers of the Governor until the real Governor gets back in the state.
Ugh.

Let's nominate the Nash Equilibrium for President.
Arnold was being interviewed by Hannah Storm, and apparently when the right buttons are pushed Arnold has that inner self of conservative thought that comes to the forefront to smack down a driveby media meme.
Now there's no more oak oppression,

...yet more reasons the Furious clan are still glad to have seen
California in the rear-view mirror.
Too, bad, too, because otherwise it was a great place to live.
Garamendi's bucking for a promotion next election cycle, this episode will buy him plenty of mindshare amongst his target demographic.

in any real improvement in the function of government. With that in mind, the OP writer should be careful about throwing stones ....

"In early March, the Bush/Cheney campaign broadcast television ads with images of the site [9-11 ground zero] in the days after the attacks."
Also there is a pic from a ...
"Bush campaign ad featuring footage from Ground Zero cleanup."
Both copied from http://www.gothamgazette.com/article/issueoftheweek/20040426/200/961
Also Rudy invokes 9-11 rather frequently

I meant to include the following quote from the OP in my original reply:
"To seek political capital on the backs of ordinary Americans as they suffer a crisis of (for them) EPIC proportions is the most vile and disgusting thing ..."
It is this aspect of the OP that I am responding to.
your citations about using images from a since-recovered event in a campaign for election have absolutely nothing to do with the Lt. Gov....WHILE THE COUNTRYSIDE STILL BURNS...yukking it up with the media about "Bush's war." One has nothing to do with the other-unless you got a bad batch from L.A.
Try again, hombre...

then why isn't it vile when Guiliani does it? Was the poster as outraged when the Bush campaign used 9-11 footage in their campaign ads after Bush swore that he would never use that tragedy for poilical advantage?
Using tragedy for purely political advantage is a cheap shot no matter what, be the perp a Dem Lt. Gov, a Rep. ex mayor or a Rep. presidential candidate.
apples and oranges taste good, but they make a really crappy fruit juice.

...and there was John Garamendi's photograph. He behaved this way in his earlier incarnations as Insurance Commissioner, and other offices. Of course, the California voters are co-complicit.

....sent a staffer to break into our offices last fall. Sadly typical of California Democrats, I'm afraid.
