Mainstream Moulitsas: A Libertarian Inspired By Jefferson (And An Ex-Republican To Boot!)
I'm a veteran, I wore the boots(Germany) and never saw combat, so I know what our guys are going through(Iraq)

The man needs counseling...to hear Jefferson AND LaRouche screaming at each other in your head is cause for ANYONE to seek some mind altering drug to silence the shrill.
So, Kos Kidz, your Bishop of Bloviation has been busy of late-dancing all the talk shows, sheepishly claiming for himself all your collective glory, dissing the country, and declaring himself a mainstream kinda guy-as fuzzy a puppy as Moe might suggest-and all the while suggesting that YOU sheep are the "real America."
You know, with the Moulitsas circus pimping rampant in front of all the tv cameras he, (and you-his minions) holds in such great disdain, I got to wondering something I hope you can help clear up for me. You got a revenue shortfall? He got a book full of YOUR thoughts and ideas and activism he's putting together he wants to pimp for a little MORE personal wealth accumulation at your expense?
You guys sure as hell have a negative cerebral quantity index, so either you people took your little yearly gizmo a bit more seriously than the suck-up wannabes hoping to fool you in to voting them IN to the Pennsylvania Ave. mansion did...how's that working out by the way? Or, you fruits and nuts actually bought IN to all the drivel from your Liberal sock puppets on the Hill...and, when the convention, group hug, and fireside rendition of "Michael Row" was done, he DID break up those 5 loaves, multiply them, and share the wealth and proceeds equally amongst you in accordance with the redistribution policy you all espouse, yes?
What say? NO? Horror of Horrors!
Sorry-am I twisting your undies all in a bundle? Too bad kool-aiders, your poster-boy and his pimping you liberal lunatics as THE America is not going to go unanswered. If he says Karl Rove's mind manipulation of the puppet Bushs' brain to cut taxes so bridges could collapse and levees could breach ONE MORE TIME, I'm going to have a Scarface moment...say hello to my little friend.
More below the fold...
So I'm headed to bed Monday night, and I hear AGAIN that the God of the new America-the Liberal America- Markos Moulitsas, is "up next" THIS TIME on Charlie Rose. No worries, PBS is NOT a liberal bastion of the media. Nor are ANY of the Sunday talk shows...no twitch in MY brain...go to bed anyway? And miss the chance to hear, AGAIN, all the salient points the liberals have to make now that they are self-deluded into believing Americans are READY to see and hear what a superior agenda they have in store for us if ONLY we could get past the Bush black helicopters and mind-control conspiracies?
Not on your life.
And with that resonating, masculine and authoritative voice, dripping with machismo, I hear the Nutroots Wet Nurse start off with this stroke of genius:
There really isn't very much good I can possibly say about Karl Rove. I think his legacy is going to be Iraq, it's going to be Katrina, it's going to be crumbling infrastructure - bridges collapsing in Minnesota.
Funny Moulitsas, I thought George Bush was President. Oh wait, it's been Dick (Darth) Cheney...no? It's been ROVE all this time? Whodathunk?
Mainstream America's anchorman had more...sadly, MUCH more, of his genius and insight and wisdom to share with the world.
...what he [Rove] was really good at was using fear as an electoral tool for winning elections.
Asked by Rose "fear of?", the Pied Piper leading the rats IN to our cities and towns had this to say:
Terrorists, fear of "scary liberals", but mostly terrorists.
Using the war as an electoral bludgeon to hurt Democrats. I mean, this is somebody who essentially beat Democrats over the head in Congress to authorize the war in Iraq and then went after those very very same Democrats in the following election and defeated a whole lot of them.
Now, I don't know this Liberal savior the Kos Kidz keep raving and hurling F-bombs at the feet of, and I surely hate to get personal and all, but when someone comes along and suggests what Moulitsas suggested when opining Rove supported Iraq because he saw elections going his way, I just gotta pull the EMO button before my head spontaneously combusts:
There's a whole neo-conservative cabal in this Administration, led-probably-by Dick Cheney, so I don't know if Karl Rove led him [Bush] that way [to go to war in Iraq] but he [Rove] saw the political benefits of the war, and I don't think he saw it so much as saving the West from this rising tide of Islam terrorism...I think he saw it as a great way to win some elections.
So, if I have this right, Rove was a cheerleader for getting a few thousand American warfighters killed if it meant winning "some elections" and this is BAD. Moultisas and the "get out now" crowd sees a few hundred thousand dead Iraqis as a chance to win "some elections" and THIS is good? I get that right you mainstreamers?
To the question, "is America turning left", he who knows us best says, perhaps, the funniest thing throughout his 18 and change minutes of nonsense:
I think the country is realizing that Democratic values are essentially mainstream American values. I think things like opportunity, and making sure we invest in our country and our infrastructure - keeping our bridges in one piece [insert school-boyish blush & chuckle here], getting our troops home from Iraq so they can be safe and sound with their families. I'm a veteran. I wore combat boots, so I know what they're going through and I know that they desperately want to be back with their families.
Excuse me? (hand raised sheepishly) What conflict did you engage an enemy again, sir? What say? None? Ah-well I own combat boots too, and even though I bought them at the Army-Navy surplus store, do I get to say I TOO know how our warfighters feel?
Really now...
Well, it drones on of course...here's a good snip:
I think there was a period of time when the media was essentially scared into a sort of parroting the Bush Administration's lines on things such as Iraq, terrorism, National Security...and that fear-mongering really had a way of masking what Democrats are really about. And now that we have the ability to actually get our message out...and you know, bloggers are part of that you know, but there's this brand new movement that I'm a part of that's starting to get the word out to activists, who are getting people engaged and motivated, and getting the word out, and suddenly it's a lot more difficult for the Administration to sort of try to demonize Democrats and once the American people see the real Democrats, they like what they see.
Ok, I want a pound of that, cut nicely into blunts wrapped in Swisher Sweets, and sent to me ASAP. I NEED to smoke what this crazy person is smoking...and I need it NOW.
If Mainstream America went to his little sandbox and watched the flaming f-bombs that get hurled around like so much confetti in their hoped-for Defeat and Surrender Parade, I doubt seriously they would like what they see. But of course, there is more...
Unwittingly, methinks, Moulitsas shows the base hypocrisy of his "movement's" assertion that Americans want to be Democrats, but for the fear-mongering and bludgeoning into submission this Administration (still sitting at the lowest approval rating in almost forever) has subjected the parroting media and its oppressed readership to, when he discusses the Hildebeast and her position on the war. Rose asks "she's [Clinton] ok on the war for you:
You know, I don't know. I'm still not quite sure - I don't know where she is on the war.
Rose asks "what's that say about you AND her...A you can't find out and B she's not clear enough to tell you?"
She's done a fantastic job of blurring distinctions. You know, she talks a great game about ending the war and bringing our troops home and that sounds good, it looks good, I think 'right on' and you go to her website and she talks about leaving behind a force to train the Iraqi troops and you suddenly realize 'well, is she going to pull our troops out or is she going to leave a certain number in' and she's done very good at avoiding an answer.
Rose asks "well, can't you ask her a specific question and get that answer?" and the boy wonder groans:
Oh my God, you think? I mean, you've been in politics long enough. You know you ask these questions and they go around in circles and then you forgot you asked the question.
Is it not true that Moulitsas blurs the distinctions every bit as much as those for whom he appears to believe he speaks when he suggests Democrats represent the real America? He does, after all, seem to believe the left is pure as the driven snow and would be paving our lives with gold and providing us all some utopia were it not for the Darth Republicans.
Rather than answering Rose's second attempt to ask if America is turning left, we get to the "America According to Moulitsas" moment I stayed up to see and hear with my own eyes and ears:
It's, um, America's turning in the right direction.
[Rose rephrases-what does it mean, left, anyway?]
You know, that's one of the problems I have anyway with this. You talk about right or left and you try to pigeonhole people into this sort of two-dimensional continuum and it doesn't really make a lot of sense. Uh, you look at me, um I'm left on the war supposedly, but 60 to 70 percent of Americans want to get out, they want to bring our troops home, so is 70 percent of America now left? I wouldn't go that far.
Now, they rabble here for a few minutes, but a striking apology for the Dem Presidential hopefuls is uttered from the golden child. He suggests they get a pass for now while they assemble their position papers...on things like health care, and domestic issues, but come September, by golly gee, they better have their positions nailed down. Funny that.
Come September, they're going to need to really be crystal clear about where they are on Iraq, and if they're not, I think a lot of us are going to assume the worst.
Hmm, what benevolence from the rulers of the Democrat party-Moulitsas, Inc...giving them until September to be clear on their intentions...where do I sign up?
The problem here, of course, is there should be no need to fine tune their Iraq position. No need to issue any white papers, no need to take further leave to study the issue. It's long been debated, dissected, kicked around, voted over (in November 2006, and every other freaking day on Capitol Hill ever since). It has, in fact, been used as a bludgeon on all the good people of America, and the aristocrats in Congress as well. What's left to consider, ponder, or investigate?
Wait...it's coming to me...oh yeah! I remember now! Petraeus report...opinion polls...America REACTS!
As sockpuppets go, I like Moulitsas more after dissecting the video transcript-I feel sorry for him of course, but hey-being a liberal kills brain cells...rehab, rest, a little quiet time in his happy place, and he could come back...consider this from him about the surge:
The war in Iraq isn't going to get any better, surge notwithstanding. It's not getting any better.
[...]
What's happening with the surge...it's whack-a-mole, you know, they send a bunch of troops to Baghdad and they go off to Fallujah [the bad guys I assume he means] you know...they go off to different cities. It's not, overall if you look at the number of deaths-civilian deaths-and if you look at civil war type of statistics, there's still a lot of killing happening and I don't think the surge has really had much of an effect on that.
A non-combat Vet suggesting a war initiative as yet unfinished and assessed is already a failure? Whew-I have just been in the mind of a genius.
Now, here is a "screen cap" of the look on Moulitsas' face as he answered Rose's question "You believe that, where you are politically, is the mainstream of the Democrat Party" with this:
I think we're the Mainstream of America
Gulp. We're doomed.
"If people want to label me, I'm actually a Libertarian. I'm not even a Liberal...I don't call myself a Liberal..."
If you're still reading this (having suffered with all this yadda yadda, I encourage you to go to minute 14 and watch him twist in the wind about HIS definition of Libertarianism, and how he believes Government needs to control Corporations so they don't mess with HIS life and HIS affairs...and that he actually USED to be a Republican, because of these "custom" re-definitions of Libertarianism, until the religious right broke into people's bedrooms...all very very entertaining stuff.
In making for a good close, I HAD to save this for last. Rose-"What philosopher most reflects your views?":
I'm very much a Jeffersonian individual.
Tommy MUST be rolling, like a roto-tiller, in his grave as I type.

I created this account solely to write this message.
Haystack, you may not be a fool, but you come off as one in the above piece. Seriously. This is worse then your usual faux-tough idiocy, by a lot. It's not even well written.
Redstate Editors, you think front-paging stuff like this helps the rep of your site? At all?
There's a reason why DailyKos gets exponentially more hits a day then Redstate. You can make fun of the way Moulitsas looks or sounds all day, and they'll keep right on doing what they do. There's no utility in such an idiotic screed, at all.
You lower yourself by allowing this sort of trash to stand on the front page. It's something I would expect an angry teenager to write.
The e-mail you used to sign up, temporarily, for that account was: screwhaystack@gmail.com. You created the account to hurl insults at a RedState contributor.
No good.
What would you expect an army (millions, says Markos)of teenagers to write? Markos knows.
I bet our veteran can beat up your veteran!
If there are any doubts, just check out:

Well, that was an enjoyable, but brief, youthful spasm.
I am now returning to my rapidly ageing physical location.
There's a reason why DailyKos gets exponentially more hits a day then Redstate.
A fresh turd also attracts a whole lotta flies; what's the point?

Vista really sucks!
I feel so much better about my writing skills now.
Seriously, dude. Punctuation. Grammar. Style guide. Dictionary. Spell checker.
Something.
Oh, and we both know you're too much of a coward to make good on your threats, so don't even bother, OK?
Yeah, I know, banned. Whoop-de-frickin-doo. I'd have been banned a long time ago if I could remember what my original password was.
We understand your pain, and your need to comment some place just to get banned. And we're here to help.
To get you started, we're forcing some honesty down your throat with a new username. The next step is yours: Admit you have a problem, and work to overcome it.
We're here for you, man.

Why does this read like schoolyard hissy fit? If this is front page material, I won't hold my breathe waiting for a Redstate GOP leadership debate.
'Not your best, Haystack.
Yep, "doing" the slaves so to speak. This guy is as phony as they come but I do give him credit for making a nice living off of the tinfoil brigade.
Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.
Hey, it's about time liberals got in on the action. TV evangelists and talk radio stars have been doing it for decades.
The old "if some one else is doing it, it excuses me for doing it."
But, what can I expect from those with no core moral values, only moral equivalency.
Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.
Your sarcasm detector is badly damaged.
Kos isn't doing anything wrong. He put a lot of time and effort into making DailyKos a success and now he is reaping the rewards. Isn't that what capitalism is all about? The market has spoken, and all that?
But, what can I expect from those with no core moral values, only moral equivalency.
This is especially amusing to me, considering that your position seems to be "it's OK for conservatives to do it, but not for liberals". Talk about relativism! Or did I miss all your posts on how Rush, Coulter, Hannity, etc shouldn't be financially rewarded for their rabble-rousing?
thing to be -- so people claim it without the slightest knowledge of what it means. Thomas Jefferson viewed government with suspicion. It was to be limited to the specific powers which the people had enumerated for it.
Today's Progressive movement is the antithesis of what Jefferson sought and taught.
sheesh, you wanna know why dailykos gets more hits? because most liberals sit around bitchin and moaning hoping the government takes care of everything while they read about gandhi instead of working.
republicans on the other hand have things to do, we can't be chilling on sites all day ranting about how unfair everything is, and defending hugo chavez. we do what is necessary, and we don't bitch and moan about it.
The closing, menacing comment:
If [Moulitsas] says Karl Rove's mind manipulation of the puppet Bushs' brain to cut taxes so bridges could collapse and levees could breach ONE MORE TIME, I'm going to have a Scarface moment...say hello to my little friend.
is toxic and should be deleted from Haytacks screed....hello mods?
Thank you for your submission.

The point on beating up on the moral and mental midget is lost on me. (Anyone who confuses "libertine" with "libertarian," and is not trying to make a more subtle point, is not exactly breaking fast past I.Q. 100.) When all the folks whom he's taken to make a living get wise to how his little show works, they'll show him what a bunch of women scorned are really like.

Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.
I liked it, I use DKos and DU as the websites for the young kids who work where I work when we get to talking about politics. I of course use RedState and Michelle Malkin for the right side and I have turned 2 of those "yutes" Red just because of the inability of the left to formulate a coherent thought without attacking and or cussing out someone. I will continue to do the valuable work of getting good young people to see the socialist values of the Democrats and how Conservative values will serve them better in the long run.
It is surprising, though, how much the MSM is afraid of him.
I expect FDT or Romney or Rudy to make short work of him.
Now, he's come out in the open. We have his MTP interview, and now this. PLENTY of material from which to work.
Especially his claim to wear "combat" boots. I suspect Blackfive and Uncle Jimbo will have LOTS of fun with that one.
"Who will stand/On either hand/And guard this bridge with me?" (Macaulay)
What is shocking is Kos says any of the Dem candidates are great and Hillary is strong. Kos bashes Bush over Iraq. Kos admits he does NOT know where Hillary stands on Iraq. Hillary has not given a clear position on Iraq. WTF?
These idiots can not give America a straight answer on where they stand on most anything let alone one of the most important issues today.
Disgusting. Vast left wing brain washing conspiracy.

Kos is a mole put up by Rove and VRWC to bring down the libs.
His new television adventures are just further proof.

It validates and inspires them to hear Kos saying that sort of thing on tv. These are not the sort of people we want to have feeling inspired.

I can't wait to share with you all the results of the field study on how oppositions attend to challenges to position statements and photo ops from it's [should have said "their" here, because condor01 (you know-our resident english language overlord?-yeah-him) is displeased with my use of google language tools] heir apparent for leading the charge.
I have sat quietly and watched the responses-both here-and over on the dark side, and save for my true friends who "get" what I was after, the rest have proven outstanding experiment subjects.
I could write a book on what you people have taught me about substantive debate, open dialog, exchange of ideas, and fair-minded commitment to an ideology.
Thanks to all of you-especially the ones who made terrible fools of yourselves, and you know who you are.

to use obscenities, death threats and very personal insults, then maybe they would have recognized it sooner. As it was, the mirror you held up for them reflected them imperfectly. On the other hand, most jackasses wouldn't recognize themselves no matter HOW good the mirror was.

Haystack/Scarface,
Maybe your actual thinking isn't as tortured as your writing, but how are we to know? Maybe you do have some interesting ideas, but what good are they if you can't communicate them? Consider those questions at your leisure.
You did effectively communicate your hatred of Markos Moulistas. I do not know if your violent ideation should cause him concern. John David Hinkley Jr. found inspiration in DeNiro's portrayal of Travis Bickle. In your rage, you imagine yourself as an avenging Tony Montana. Perhaps the FBI is also the subject of your experiment. Again, you've left us guessing.

Everybody else has figured out by now what the point was of this exercise, not least because it got copped to in this thread.
So. Stop digging that hole, smile, and never, ever, ever try a passive-aggressive threat here again.
You will say "Yes, Moe" now.

The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC. I've been usurped!
the worst part of the video lies solely in his and the mental masturbation Charlie Rose seemed to be doing when this waste of 46 chromosomes stated without any reservation, that if Karl Rove or George Bush hadn't been around, the bridge in Minneapolis wouldn't have collapsed.
I would be gobsmacked by any human being stating this about Bill Clinton. I'll put it this way and see if Mr. Kos thinks the same way. We first knew about this bridge's deficiencies in the 90s, was Hillary too busy trying to screw up healthcare and ignoring Bill's infidelity and was Bill too busy with cigars and dresses to worry about it?
Come on! I wish people in America understood shame and decency!
Kos and Chuckie Schumer, his elected equilevant have neither.
Heh.
As a far-left moonbat myself, I'm frankly surprised by all the comments other liberals have posted in defense of Kos. It's not why I come on this site. It's always interesting to see people who actually hate everything you love and take it as a given -- on any left-wing blog, Michelle Malkin would certainly not be treated any better than Markos was, here. It betrays a lack of understanding of the blogging process, in a way, and of the political process itself, in a way, to be so critical of a post guilty of the same sins that liberal posts are often guilty of. Of course, Haystack and I have differing views on many of the points used to attack Kos; Haystack mentions the "F-word" like it's a bad thing, whereas I don't find anything wrong with is, and I would say it here loudly if it were not against the rules, which I respect.
So I say shut up. All you people complaining about insults to a left-wing guy on a right-wing site should go home or embrace the issues when they exist (I don't think I'm saying anything controversial when I say that this particular story is not about any "issues"). We do the exact same thing -- no, really, we do -- and all this smack towards the author is just inflammatory. I know that this website is "the enemy" to some, but it degrades the whole blogosphere when people bring down the level of discourse to petty catfights about someone this website is pretty much set up to hate (well, not really hate as in wishing for death and so on, but you know what I mean). So yes, shut up with the insults to the author -- post a diary on DailyKos about it, but trolling this site makes both you and this site look bad.
I think RedState ought to have some sort of guide for the liberals who come and are inadvertently annoying, as I used to be. It can be hard to understand why conservatives and liberals think so differently from each other. Please keep doing what you're doing; this blog is a strong reminder to liberals, and everyone, that there are plenty of good, intelligent voices on the right, despite what the left says.
At least, from my point of view. I don't particularly hate Markos, because that would require me to fear him, too. I can safely retain a lively contempt for what he's done and become*, however, and so I do.
Other Contributors may vary. Heaven knows that we do on just about everything else.

*Before you ask: what he has done was to take a reasonably genteel (prior to 2002) liberal/left political blog and turn it into a extended pander to many of the worst nonviolent** impulses of the progressive movement. The world is an uglier place because it has the Daily Kos in it; and the fact that something very much like it would have arisen in its place, and that somebody else would have made a living at running it, does not absolve either the site - or the man who operates it.
I generally don't bring this sort of opinion up, because like Thomas I don't see all that much point on dwelling on this. Not to mention the fact that Moulitsas has done the neocons the favor of creating a movement that doesn't actually hinder us, past the occasional mild annoyance. But I wouldn't want you to think that we were suddenly going soft, or something. :)
**I almost called this a "saving grace," but that would imply that avoiding calls to violence is a meritorious act, instead of a basic human decency.
So we should be the responsible older sibling and not smack down the immature younger sibling because they know not what they do. I get it. Thanks.
Rules don't apply to left wing "civil discourse" types because they are changing the world! We don't need a guide here for libs. They should have learned a little respect along the way. This isn't kindergarten.

I confess to being fooled, thought you were just having a bad day. Nice, you write just like the frenzied semi-literates on this one occasion and of a sudden style, grammar, and punctuation become important. The one thing you haven't been complimented on is subtlety, whereas I thought this was an aberration liberal schmucks suddenly became English professors.
The best thing about your effort is that yet again it shows that the left believes in nothing, other than power, there is nothing that would cause them to hesitate for a moment before leaping into total contradiction. In this case standards of any sort are not required for the lower order hominids, but mastery of English on the order of a James, Shaw, or Newman is required for their critics.
Not that they have read any of those, struggling as they do with NY Times editorials.

Blogs are the future of news. Professional reporters are too busy stalking Paris Hilton or telling us about John Mark Karr's preference in beer (Karr is the child sex pervert who claimed to have killed JonBenet) to report on real news; experts in their fields can post on a prominent site like dKos without having to educate a journalist who flunked Accounting 201 on the rudiments of that area of expertise (and, who invariably gets it wrong).
If you want to know the truth about a man, ask his ex-mistress. I come to RedState and Townhall to learn the truth about the Left, and go to dKos to learn the truth about the Right.

I loved the writeup, but the sure sign is the huge number of nutroots that have descended to whine. Anything that gets their knickers in an uproar must be good. Nice job!
...when they see me they'll say, "There goes Loren Wallace,
the greatest thing to ever climb into a race car."

Sorry Haystack, only lasted 3 minutes (please, no jokes) That is the first time I have ever seen Kos speak and most likely the last time. He looks, speaks and acts the quintessential liberal/socialist. So now he calls socialism an investment in America? I guess he is still fooling a lot of kids. Stunning.
