Obama IS The Problem With Democrats
They have this "we're the Mommies and Daddies and American citizens are our helpless little Children" complex going on...

The charge that Obama is an "elitist" might stick, but that isn't what's wrong with him or the Democrats.
That he presumes to know best how to parent our children helps explain the problem with him and his party. It's quite funny, really, to think Mr. Obama knows best how the rest of us should parent our children when it's safe to say he plays a miniscule role in parenting his own. The man is never home; telling others how to do something they rarely if ever do themselves IS the problem with Democrats, and Obama is the poster boy for them ALL when it comes to telling the rest of us how to live and what to do.
If he takes the kids with him everywhere he goes, then they are not in school...tutored perhaps or "home schooled"..each of these possibilities antithetical to what he (and his minions) believe in for a Democrat world (read liberal and or progressive...or both). Peruse the "new" Dr. Spock's insight on life with children:
Parents if you don't parent, we can't improve our schools, [y]ou've got to parent. You've got to turn off the television set in your house once in a while, you've got to put the video game away once in a while.
You should have a curfew in your house so your children aren't out in the streets all night. You should meet with the teacher and find out what the homework is and help that child with the homework. And if you don't know how to do the homework, don't be embarrassed, find someone to help you.
Fathers, be fathers, [b]e a part of your child's life. Be a part of your child's life and try to make them proud. [my personal fave from Barry]
And the last thing is, if your child is misbehaving at school don't curse out the teacher. You know who you are. It's not the teacher's fault that your child is misbehaving. That's some home training.
You know what I say is true, though. Don't blame the teachers, and the government and the schools if you're not doing your job.
You know what I am going to say next...
[pause]
Why is he blaming US then? Why does he presume to "understand" what's wrong in our collective lives and scold us about how we need to behave in order for us to be "happy" with ourselves and our futures?
More below the "did he really just say that?" fold...
Barack Obama is the problem in Washington. He is not doing his job...how many votes has he missed over the years, or wasted with a "present" when he was in IL State Politics? His fellow Senators and Representatives in the People's House aren't doing their jobs either. Obama et. al. have clearly forgotten who's who in the food chain of American Governance; "We the People" ring a bell kids?
Apparently the Junior Senator believes he'll solve the world's problems by yelling at those of us who pay his salary and telling us why we're mad in the first place. I know the quote has been plastered everywhere, but I get my own shot at it:
[T]hey get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
Umm, no Barry. I live in a small town myself...amongst "some" who believe the Civil War is but "paused" at cease fire status. We here in rural America cling to guns because we CAN...and because we don't trust Government alone to keep us safe. We cling to religion because we choose to, and because we "believe" in something greater than ourselves...unlike our hapless Government that behaves as if IT is the greater power in our lives. Again, we don't TRUST Government to take "care" of us...every time they try, more harm than good comes from it.
We don't have antipathy to people because they aren't "like us, we have antipathy to people that break the law and get away with it BECAUSE of a Government that gives us every reason not to trust it will "take care of us." The trade issue, again, is not because it's a bad idea, it's because the Government doesn't know how to negotiate its way out of a freaking wet paper bag...do I need to add the word "trust" in that sentence?
If it wasn't so important, it would be hysterically funny to watch our political heroes twist themselves all up in knots trying to get in, or stay in, power. Apparently Obama thinks he is going to fix all of OUR problems, and get his cohorts on the Hill to start doing their jobs, by getting a promotion he doesn't deserve and hasn't earned.
And he wonders why we're mad...sheesh.

That I have with Obama's "raise your kids" speech:
He and his Party are trying to take that job away from parents. So why should parents Not blame him and the government and the government's lackeys (teachers)?
"Guns don't kill people...
"...But they sure help!"
-Paul Giamatti, Shoot 'Em Up
Seizing power from parents and leaving them with the responsibility is what the NEA (and its pet party) does.
Obama's comments about parents being responsible for their own children, the need to be involved in education and so on are pretty much identical to those of Bill Cosby and other black leaders who urge responsibility on parents.
You know -- he's saying it isn't the government's job to take care of your kids 24/7, and also the governemnt/schools don't do the job that you as parent will do. When Bill Cosby makes the identical points to black audiences he gets praise from conservatives, as he should. He is talking here about parents who have given up their kids o the state.
This is the *opposite* of the nanny-statism you decry, and it is the kind of rhetoric (unaccompanied as it is by any actual *proposals*) that has earned Obama the widespread support he has.
You then state (without any proof) that Obama is a neglectful father and hence, what, a hypocrite? This seems really contrived to me. It's not like there is a shortage of problems with Obama, do we have to make them up?
And yes, an elitist is precisely what Obama is, an academic Marxist who sees everything in terms of class warfare. It's not so much that his"guns, god and gays" argument is offensive but rather that it is so silly and so predictable.
"When Bill Cosby makes the identical points to black audiences he gets praise from conservatives, as he should."
Yes because he's been making those points for years...
Obama just all of a sudden starts saying this stuff...
I think its insincere and I just dont believe him.
Who in this country would disagree with what Obama is saying? This is not courageous or grand rhetoric or some bold new path for America, its something anyone listening to Obama would agree with. Its akin to saying "A Strong Economy is Good for America," or "I Support The Troops,": applause lines that mean nothing without action. Without listing any policy proposals or how on earth his administration will achieve this goal (probably because no one in this country wants the government telling them how to raise their children) all Obama is doing is painting a vision of a dream country where kids behave, do well in school, and everyone is happy that no one could possibly oppose.
Its pandering nonsense.
“One element in the strength of any government is the patriotism of the people, their love for its institutions, their pride for its name and achievements.” ~ William McKinley
from what I have gathered, his father abandoned his mother; He believes the people who raised him (like his typical white person grandmother) where racist, and furthermore where of such little intelligence that he had to play an act and humor them (paraphrasing: I find when you smile and act politely it puts them at ease)
Obama shouldnt be praised for this statement because the spirit of the message isnt a Bill Cosby-esque cry for better parenting. Obama is saying that the public school system (GOVERNMENT) isnt the problem. You (PRIVATE CITIZENS) are the problem.

And recite it to the congregation at that little church on the south side of Chicago...pronto
