Politicizing 9/11

334-1

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Democratic presidential candidate, used the anniversary of 9/11 to score what he no doubt believes to be political points against the Bush Administration, Republicans, and perhaps a few of his fellow Democrats.

Kucinich, whose chances of gaining the Democratic nomination are about as large as his intellect, but not quite as large as his ego, was the lone Congressman to vote against a resolution commemorating the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in this nation's history. The resolution passed 334-1.

After the vote, the little man issued a little statement.

Read on...

"It is important that Congress wake up to the truth and exercise its obligation under the Constitution to save our nation from being destroyed from the lies that took us into Iraq, the lies that keep us there, the lies that are being used to set the stage for war against Iran and the lies that have undermined our basic civil liberties here at home," Kucinich said in a statement.

"The September 11 resolution that Congress considers today should have made reference to those matters. It does not, so I cannot support it," Kucinich said, also calling for a halt for further war funding and the troops to be brought home.

The title of the resolution as it was introduced in the House is:

Recognizing September 11 as a day of remembrance, extending sympathies to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and their families, honoring the heroic actions of our nation's first responders and Armed Forces, and reaffirming the commitment to defending the people of the United States against any and all future challenges.

Clearly, Rep. Kucinich is seeking to gain attention for his campaign by pulling this political stunt. But isn't this just the type of thing that Kucinich and his Democratic and liberal friends assail Republicans for allegedly doing? Using the anniversary of 9/11 to score political points against them?

It's hard to imagine what problems Kucinich can find in the resolution itself based on its title. Perhaps the Congressman doesn't have any feelings for those killed, or for their families. After all, many of them worked for the greediest of greedy corporations, capitalist enablers all. He may not consider the actions of the police, fire, and emergency medical service to be all that heroic. They were only government employees who owed their lives, as well as their livelihood, to the state. As for the Armed Forces, maybe Kucinich believes that they are just bloodthirsty warmongers. Killers and rapists all bent on sowing destruction and despair anywhere oil companies want to profit. And defending America? Kucinich!!??

Kucinich is hell bent on playing Dathan to Osama bin Laden's pharaoh. But Dathan was cast out of Egypt along with the rest of the Israelites. Congressman, they want to kill you, too. All of the Department's of Peace in the world won't change that fact. And neither will you, seeing as how you are about as close to being President of the United States as bin Laden is. So go ahead and continue to politicize the events of 9/11 for the benefit of the crazies from whom you draw whatever support you have. At least they have an excuse, they don't know any better. I believe you do, and that just makes you pathetic.

You know that I would never advocate indiscriminate elimination of an electorate. Even in this idiot's district. Why, if we did that we would be zonking the Republicans too. Both of them.

Now, unknot your knickers.

You post such hyperbole all the time, so you get away with it because nobody takes it seriously, heh.

Becker's mellowed (or at least, his posts have) since Franz started mulling his run, it seems. You're the one who stands out the most now, heh.

He just makes me laugh. I don't give a flip about Kucinich.

Is that this statement could have just as easily been issued by a certain candidate running for the Republican nomination.

If our government actually did the things Crazy Denny accuses it of, there would be no Dennis Kucinich, he would have vanished in the night. Same goes for that other old doddering fool on our side.

....he comes from a Democratic district, but not a communist one! A Republican actually represented this district not too long ago - in the 1990s, I believe. Are the people of Cleveland really that stupid?

I will take time out of this solemn day to say it.

This is nothing;post a link to the interview on MEMRI when he was in Syria. Your head will explode.

Is this what the people of his district support? I will save my comments for them until after the next election.

I think we're at the point where we stop looking to Kucinich and start looking to the voters who elected him. He's out there so far that there's no way a district of 500,000+ people can agree with him on this and on a lot of the other things he stands for.

What district does he represent and do they stand with Kucinich today?

If so, then something's rotten in Ohio.

I actually live across the street from the southern boundary of denny's district. If I remember correctly a Grand total of 50,000 people voted for Dennis. The election was marked by all kinds of vote buying and fraud. No one in Cleveland politics wanted ANY investigation. I am disgusted by this fool and I'm glad he isnt my congressman. I am guessing that this "representive" will implode soon. He has never returned my calls and he has no accomplishments in the House as far as I'm aware. As for the people of denny's district, who can tell?
Going to Syria to kiss up with to a terrorist butcher is beyond anything I can comprehend . I'm guessing that the people in the district must be pretty embarrassed today, but being democrats, I'm sure it wont last long. This is the kind of blather I've come to expect from ANY liberal, democrat or moveon.org troll.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't he the mayor that completely and totally f---ed up Cleveland?

So instead of being a real American and remembering those we lost when the terrorists attacked us 6 years ago in New York or DC, Michael Moore went to Canada and kissed their asses instead. And scared his liberal audience by talking about "President Giuliani", which apparently is his biggest nightmare.

That's just like Kucinich.
