Bush No Longer Illiterate
Still Ignorant and Evil

It's amazing what a slow news day looks like. Published on Christmas Day, this article by Katharine Q. Seelye in the New York Times makes the case that President Bush is no longer the illiterate boob Pinch and team thought he was. Why? Because -- and brace yourself -- he reads newspapers now!
President Bush declared in 2003 that he did not read newspapers, but at his final news conference of the year last week, he casually mentioned that he had seen something in the paper that very day.
We should give the President some credit. Between running for re-election, handling a war, and helping in the 2006 mid-terms, apparently he found time to learn how to read. So now, though Democrats can no longer say he is illiterate, they can still fall back on ignorant and evil because, in the President's own words, “I hear the voices and I read the front page and I hear the speculation, but I’m the decider, and I decide what’s best.” How dare he make decisions instead of relying on the New York Times editorial page.

...and you need to use the head, that's what the New York Times is good for. Especially since they changed the ink so it doesn't smear your (ahem) fingers anymore.
"in the President's own words, “I hear the voices ...."
Maybe we should have quit while we were ahead.

For all the criticism us RedState folks often lob at Bush (some deserved, some not) he really has been a pretty good president, especially in terms of not trying to "win over" the media elites and instead relying on his instict. Its quite refreshing seeing someone NOT try and make those people like them.
