I have been tracking the story at Grady Hospital. One of the supporting bad guys is a person named Dr. Andrew Agwunobi. He was CEO at Grady for about a year until he was removed following an HHS investigation that concluded this,

the conditions at Grady Hospital pose an immediate and serious threat to the health and safety of the patients

While he is a supporting bad guy in the Grady scandal, he has a long a distinguished record of corruption all around the country himself. He has left a trail of corruption in Georgia, California, and Florida, and now he is about to unleash himself on the folks of Seattle, and most of the media is largely silent.

He is knee deep in the scandal at WellCare. In fact, he just re signed as the feds are investigating his role. Despite this latest fiasco and a long history of corruption and incompetence he already has a new job lined up in Seattle where he will be the COO of a network of hospitals.

His story is unbelievable and what is more unbelievable is how he manages to commit all this corruption and no one notices.

I traced this back to a complete lack of caring by the media in each of the places he stops.

"Former President George H.W. Bush will endorse John McCain in Texas on Monday, Republican officials said."

So, a question. Does this help McCain given W's numbers and the frustration so many felt with Bush Sr.?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080215/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_bush

That can't hurt with the primary coming up.

And I have to think that W's and H. W.'s approval ratings are higher in Texas than they are in the country as a whole.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

I think that Bush supports McCain very much in private, but even he has to know his name is poison to the GOP right now. I think GHW Bush's endorsement is quietly the endorsement of the whole family. Too bad, if W hadn't damaged the Bush brand we'd be talking about Jeb as a frontrunner right now...

Maybe then McCain will make the pilgrimage that so many others have made to the Bush Library where I live. It would be great to hear him speak. I missed the Romney and Giuliani speeches :(

Trying to stop global warming (or cooling) with carbon dioxide emission restrictions will work as well as trying to stop continental drift with a thumbtack.

It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly, one begins to twist facts to suit theories instead of theories to fit facts. Sherlock Holmes

The difference is, trying to stop continental drift with a thumbtack won't destroy the American economy and condem billions of people in Africa and Asia to living in pre-industrial economies.

Oh, and there's also the little detail that continental drift is scientifically proven, while no one has yet been able to match global warming theory to known historical events.

This was the point I tried to make with my comment. I guess I should have had my sarcasm denoter on full blast, though I can't see why anyone would have any question as to what I meant.

Oh, beleive me, I understood you. I was just adding to it. Looks like wrong conjunction.

Personally, I LOVE the idea of telling the global warming alarmists that they have to solve continental drift before they can take on global warming. I'll even contribute a tack hammer and a package of brads to the effort.

When W is relaxing on the Texas plains and historians are trying to comprehend his overall impact on America, if they are honest, they will look at things like this and realize that he was just what we needed for our nation at this time.
And I think his legacy will be far better than most would have us believe.

Wow! I would have never suspected this.
Is it a flip flop or is the last paragraph his out?

"The senator, a former constitutional law instructor, says he believes the Second Amendment to the Constitution grants individual gun rights.
But he says it's subject to commonsense regulations like background checks."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080215/ap_on_el_pr/obama

It's nice and reasonable sounding cover for gun control. Criminals, of course, would be precisely the ones to get guns on the black market and bypass the background checks anyway. Decent citizens with no records are the ones who will have to jump through the hoops. Crazy people with no records (see VA tech shooting) would likewise pass.

Govt regulation can't regulate the people who actually need regulating, and it wastes taxpayer money in the process. Being responsible, good neighbors and friends on the other hand, can and should regulate people who need regulating from the bottom-up.

An individual right to own a BB gun after a 10 day waiting period, background check, and permit fee. Oh and there would be a law that requires the manufacturers install a mechanism that prevents you from pumping it too many times. Pretty much the same thing every big time Democrat means when he says the same thing or talks about how much he loves to hunt.

As many know two of the most vulnerable Democrats this year are Congressman Marshall (GA-8) and Barrow (GA-12). While the challenger in the 12th district will have to be determined in the July GOP Primary, there is one credible challenger to Marshall in Georgia's 8th District and that is Rick Goddard.

Rick Goddard is a retired USAF General and former base commander of Robins AFB. Rick is a Vietnam vet who flew combat missions in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star and Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism. He is a solid conservative who supports the war against radical Islamists, securing our borders, making the Bush tax cuts permanent, and reducing wasteful government spending. It is time to dump Marshall and get a solid conservative Republican in the U.S. House. If you can please visit his campaign website and maybe even contribute a dime or two in support of his principled effort.

"Glory is not a conceit. It is not a decoration for valor. Glory belongs to the act of being constant to something greater than yourself, to a cause, to your principles, to the people on whom you rely and who rely on you in return."-Senator John Mc

Marshall & Barrow both squeaked by, like by 1% or so, in '06 which wasn't exactly a stellar GOP year. If you have limited funds and a network of politically active friends, these are a couple of seats which would be prime for flipping from D to R this year.

We're gonna need all those we can get so....saddle up the checkbook. Nancy and Harry and the gang are gonna get it anyway.

"All that need be done for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Not one-liners; but if this had appeared in blogs it would have been fine (particularly with eburke's addition).

"Glory is not a conceit. It is not a decoration for valor. Glory belongs to the act of being constant to something greater than yourself, to a cause, to your principles, to the people on whom you rely and who rely on you in return."-Senator John McCain

Imagine the following scenarios a) the state of Vermont had 2 conservative Republican US Senators and the Democrats contested these seats with weak candidates or no candidate and b) an open seat in purple red state existed in the US Senate and we Republicans ran a very conservative candidate who happened to sponsor a Homosexual Rodeo which was evidence that he was a moderate.

Flip the scenarios and that is exactly what happens in scenario A in Montana and North Dakota and Scenario B in Virginia. Why we are giving Max Baucus another free 6-year term similar to what we have given Dorgan and Conrad in their re-elections is beyond me? In Virginia, Mark Warner sponsored a NASCAR team and suddenly he is a moderate who is unbeatable despite his socially liberal and economically liberal record?

We must challenge these seats when they come up and challenge them seriously. That Warner is considered the heavy favorite in Virginia and that Max Baucus is getting another free 6-years are huge black eyes to the Republican party.

The last poll I read for the VA Senate had Jim Gilmore inching closer to Warner. Although Warner had a 15 pt lead, 53-38, in the January Rasmussen poll, it is a better showing for Gilmore than polls that I read late last year that had him down 30 pts or so to Warner. Still a long way to go, but I find it hard to believe that a Democrat could win by a wide margin in VA during Presidential election no matter how purple they say the state is becoming. A lot of vets live in VA who will flock to the polls to vote for McCain and that should help Gilmore immensely.

In the case of challenging Senator Max Baucus, who are considered top-tier challengers that could be recruited? I see that two current Republican challengers are Mike Lange and Kirk Bushman. I know that Lange is a State Rep. and former State House Majority Leader, and would seem to be a top-tier candidate but it seems as though his little "tirade" against Schweitzer, which led to his removal from his leadership position, makes him damaged goods. I don't know much about Bushman, but it appears that he is a political newcomer without much name ID. Who else is there?

"Glory is not a conceit. It is not a decoration for valor. Glory belongs to the act of being constant to something greater than yourself, to a cause, to your principles, to the people on whom you rely and who rely on you in return."-Senator John Mc

Rehberg won't give up a safe house seat and tried vs. Baucus 2 terms ago and held Baucus to under 50%. Rocciot has thus far refused to run. Similar to North dakota where Governors Hoeven and Schaeffer have henceforth refused to challenge Dorgan and Conrad despite polls showing them extremely competitive. The sad part about ND is every other state wide office is held by a Republican, yet when the former Governors pass on the election(s), our bench also sits it out and we are left with underfunded no-names to be fodder for the liberal Conrad and Dorgan!

In Virginia, we have been complicit in allowing Warner to posture as a "moderate". He sponsors a NASCAR team, refuses to discuss social issue (despite the fact we know he will be a tool of the left-wing judiciary committee when votes come to the full Senate) and just write-off that race for all intent and purposes. Although I do agree McCain will help Gilmore in the general election, we seem intimidated by Warner because we allow him to posture as a "moderate" for the reasons stated.

The root of this is our shallow bench of prospects, but I will address that elsewhere.

The fact that the GOP cannot field good senate and house candidates in bright, ruby red states like Montana and North Dakota is nothing short of criminal. Republicans should have a lock on those seats.

BEIRUT, Lebanon — A leading human rights group appealed to Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah on Thursday to stop the execution of a woman accused of witchcraft and performing supernatural acts.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch said in a statement that the kingdom's religious police who arrested and interrogated Fawza Falih, and the judges who tried her in the northern town of Quraiyat never gave her the opportunity to prove her innocence in the face of "absurd charges that have no basis in law."

Falih's case underscores shortcomings in Saudi Arabia's Islamic legal system in which rules of evidence are shaky, lawyers are not always present and sentences often depend on the whim of judges.

The most frequent victims are women, who already suffer severe restrictions on daily life in Saudi Arabia: They cannot drive, appear before a judge without a male representative, or travel abroad without a male guardian's permission.

I guess a religion that's stuck in the 7th Century is still going to make 16th Century mistakes.

You didn't need O'Reilly's body language lady to tell you that John McCain still holds a grudge against Mitt Romney. Even as Romney was praising him, throwing his support to him, and encouraging his delegates to do the same, McCain stood stiffly by him with twitching eyes. But the most funny and telling moment came when Romney stood aside to let McCain speak. Mr. Congeniality only moved halfway in front of the microphones so as not to get too close to Romney.

The body language tells it all about the man.

Global warming is the only chance to save future generations of baby penguins. With current conditions, eggs that role onto the ground freeze and crack killing the innocent life inside, just like in "March of the Penguins" (narrated by Morgan Freeman (AWESOME!!!) ).

It's clear from other documentaries like "Surf's Up" that penguins prefer nice weather. If it saves only one baby penguin, it will be worth it.

You can't afford the price of free corn.

I guess this will earn me another death threat.

I live in NE Wisconsin about 40 minutes from Packer paradise.

First: Obama has been advertising hard here for over two weeks. I don't even try and I see radio and TV spots all the time. Uncle Jimbo at Blackfive attended an Obama rally in Milwaukee and said there were 20,000 swooning fans there. Bill Clinton got 2,000 to show up

Hillary! is non-existant here. No advertising at all that I have seen. I'm sure she's doing something in this state but not here, or not that's noticeable.

My prediction: Obama wins Wisconsin bigger than predicted

Second: I want global warming. This is the most cold and snowy winter in the last 10 years. We got 7" more inches of snow yesterday and I (literally) have run out of room to plow it to. Oh and we are supposed to get more snow on Sunday.

Personally, I have my humidifier facing my de-humidifier and both are on. The faster this earth warms the happier I (and my wife) will be.

Third: Obama in the Milwaukee State Journal today:
"the country must do "whatever it takes" to eradicate gun violence but he believes in the right to bear arms"

Yeah, and I believe in war.... as long as no one gets killed.

He's and empty suit, but he's a really smoooooth empty suit.

In 2000, while in the Illinois State Senate, he cosponsored a bill that would limit handgun purchases to one per month.

In his book the Vapidity of Hope he stated, "I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer's lobby."

In 1998, he filled out an Illinois Legislative National Political Awareness Test where he answered that he supported banning the sale or transfer of all forms of semiautomatic weapons, increasing state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms, and requiring manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Obama is anti-2nd amendment rights, a liar, a hypocrite, and an empty suit.

"Glory is not a conceit. It is not a decoration for valor. Glory belongs to the act of being constant to something greater than yourself, to a cause, to your principles, to the people on whom you rely and who rely on you in return."-Senator John McCain

how he's saturating WI with his ads. He's spending a lot of money here. So I'd guess he's spending a lot in other states too.

And Hillary! is a ghost here. If this is her campaign strategy, it's no wonder she's behind.

Personally, I hope Obama gets the Dem nod for POTUS. I think it would be rather easy to poke holes in an empty suit being held up by wind.

He bascially called him a phoney and a liar last night on Hannity and Colmes.
