You guys haven't really noticed over here because he's been doing all his postings at the new site (yes, it is fully operational and some of you are about to get invites to it). We wanted him to be the first new contributor at the new site, but I upgraded his permissions here so he can get addicted to some of the hidden features before we turn them off and all move over to the new site.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please officially welcome Absentee to our front page.
GordonTaylor, Kowalski, and Gamecock will be in charge of the newbie hazing rituals. You guys please coordinate with Jeff Emanuel and Pejman. Having now seen what Absentee looks like, might I suggest the shaving of eyebrows while he sleeps.

attended undergraduate college in my hometown, and thus had a life and no need for a fraternity (save phi beta kappa!), I will rely upon the yankees to school me in Greek rituals with which I am unfamiliar. I am very familiar with souvlaki and baklava.
btw, what does this pay?
free jumper cables?
And given this public outing of the notion that I am now responsible for more than navel gazing, should I also prepare for an RS female marriage proposal?

Now that I have to admit that Mike Bloomberg is in the same fraternity I am, along with my father, I regret that I can't engage in the kind of hazing rituals with Absentee that might in other circumstances be completely appropriate for what he truly deserves. "Touchy-feely" society these days, and all that. ;)
I will however invite him at any opportunity to tour some of the better eating and drinking establishments along the Eastern Seaboard, beginning with the Boston area and surrounding communities, but we can go as far south as Virginia before I lose my bearings and require GPS. Come to think of it, maybe we can fly him out to the coast to have some steak and a few drinks in D.C.? That might be nice for all of us, come to think of it.
What say you, Absentee? I Have Audi, Will Travel.
In the meantime, great choice and I know he'll make us proud here on the front page.
I hereby reserve the right to make you Consecrate the Bond of Obedience at any time of my choosing.
Now Drop and Give Me Twenty!....great front page blog entries.
;)
I stimulated the economy today and bought wireless mouse and a 46' flat screen, dyed some Easter Eggs and while awaiting the rebirth of the Lord, I receive this bit of good news.
Let me know if you both need a good place to booze here in DC. I can help the drinking team have a blogging problem. :) Cheers to the newest conquerer of politic's Unbeatable Banzuki.
the only possible reason you could have for promoting him to the front page is the consistently well-written and well researched pieces he has done.
If high standards are your criteria for advancement, I am afraid few of us will ever achieve the honor.

compelling writers on this--or any other--website. May you give Ace a run for his money next year! Thanks for all the wonderful diaries that you have written to date and I'll look forward to many more--what, not enough pressure for you? ;-)
boy, you'll really be held accountable now! No more, "Oops", your a front pager now old friend!
and distinguish myself from the editors who continue to mis-capitalize absentee's name!
absentee, hail to you! You are outstanding in wit and principle. You are in every way an honorable man, an eminently worthy adversary, and an even better friend. The fact that you'll never persuade me to shift my loyalty from Fred Thompson to John McCain is not your fault - I mean, consider what we each have to work with in that debate...
My brother, I'm honored to know you and I know you will cause the bright shine which is RedState to shine even brighter.
Side note to the RedState team: Very, very good call, guys. Absolutely commendable. Now I beg you, please begin referring to him as absentee, and not Absentee.

.. and your high praise. But oh, I will SO persuade you to shift. Tiiiime is on my side, yes it is! ;)

That song was forever changed by the outstanding 'Fallen' movie.
And good luck with that effort, by the way. I wouldn't want to dissuade you from that Quixotian adventure. I'll know the day that I look out the window and see pigs flying that I'm in trouble, haha!

To Fred's principles & was loyal as long as he was in the race. Now, McCain is the nominee. I don't agree with everything & will be very happy to point out disagreements where I have them. I do, however, support McCain because he's with me much more than he's not, & also he's light years ahead of the competition!
I'm on the team and pulling for our guy - but I remain personally and fiercely loyal to Fred Thompson. Since you're a Fred guy, I don't have to explain.

I must admit that your blogs are among the most enjoyable reading here (even if I'm still not a fan of McCain).

I have to admit, it was getting rather tiresome having to recommend every single one of your blogs, so I'm glad to see that issue will be alleviated now :D

shaving of eyebrows while he sleeps, placing the dangling hand in a bowl of warm water while he sleeps, it's much less invasive!
it didn't work, though.

and after reading your ridiculous circuitous plan, how you got this new position is quite evident.
As for Redstate, I'm sorry I'm not a better contributor in either quality or volume, but I appreciate you letting me in and hope to get that invite to the new place. In case I don't, please let me say thank you here. You have "it" for readers like me.
and the person who famously plugged him on Rush Limbaugh thereby singlehandedly giving him his entire blogging career on a silver platter, I believe I deserve one of these invites to the new site..
We'll see if being related to such a powerful and influential person will actually pay off as well as he claimed it would when he forced me to call Rush.
In all seriousness, congrats caleb.
And you were 3 or 7 or something (I've never been all that clear on your age ... or name) and you spilled water all over the picture I was drawing of Optimus Prime, which was the Greatest and Best Optimus Prime Portait in the World, and I couldn't reproduce it, so I had to draw a different picture that I called The Greatest and Best Optimus Prime Portait in the World ... Tribute? Huh? Remember that?
Well payback is a bench, Bench! No invite for you!

Oh, yes, I'm trying out the html lessons from Neil. Thanks Neil if you happen to read this.
But seriously, congratulations. He deserves it. I can't wait to get to the new site.
