Just for a moment, consider the implications of the fact that this guy was charged with "administering a poison."

And now, open thread.

I know that people have been charged with double murder for killing a pregnant woman. Does it matter how far along the pregnancy is?

Murder is usually a state ordeal barring some extenuating circumstances that cause the feds to get involved(crossing state lines, etc.)

I disagree with Geldof's assessment of the whole Iraq operation and how history will treat Bush over it, but the overall article is pretty interesting.

Last night, I attended a fundraiser for Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Follow this link to read about his commitment to keeping taxes low & his disparaging the DFL 'jobs bill, among other things.

trending for Obama? Have these people lost their minds?
EPU, Hay, what gives?
Is it Clinton derangement syndrome or are people really falling for this false god?

As a graduate of UT, Texas Democrats are pretty liberal actually, except for guns. No one knows Obama's record on guns, but Texas Dems swoon for someone like Obama, and no one here like's the Clintons. I for one welcome the chance for a clear left wing center right race. I think Hillary is less beatable in the general than everyone thinks. Obama has already started his downward spiral. Rasmussen showed McCain has the lead on Iraq, the economy, and national security-a trend which is only going to get better before November. Enjoy the she devils defeat c17, we're going to gear up to deliver the smackdown to hopeandchangehopeandchange on November as America rejects McGovern again.

I'm not on the ground in TX, so I am having to rely on reports from the ground. My family is filled with die-hard republicans, so they aren't much help.

probably retire there, but I'll always be a Texan by birth. A part of my heart will always be in S. Carolina though too. My girls were born there and I'll always love Charleston.

Hey, sister! Always a pleasure....

I know and care nothing about what the looney lefties are doing around my environs. Cuz in November, they will pull, oh, maybe a good 38% of Texas in the election that counts. They can in general just bite me.

going to the dems in the general either.
As for me, I'm casting my vote for John Sidney McCain, III, not Barack Hussein Obama. :>)

and it will be a genuine pleasure to do so. At this moment, I am wearing my "punch the hippies" t-shirt from the IMAO website.

ballot too.
Felt good.
John Sidney McCain III for the general though. Too much at stake to write in any other.

Much of my family is in Texas, and they are all Democrats and going for Obama. Most of them like both candidates, and have reservations about both, but still like Obama on balance. They don't treat him like a god or anything close, and they also don't hate Clinton. Same with me, but I am not voting in Texas.

and maybe two for Hillary.

Obama is winning the media wars in Texas, not even counting all the worship he gets from the MSM.

Anyone in Illinois care to comment on this? There hasn't been any independent polling on this race. All I have seen have been internal Foster polls.

The Illinois GOP, in their infinite wisdom has nominated the worst possible candidate as usual. I'm not shocked that he's losing, most peopel here really don't like Oberweis. (He makes awesome ice cream though)

So, John Hagee endorsed McCain. A lot of people say that the man is anti-Catholic and/or anti-Semitic. Apparently McCain actually accepted the endorsement - and I heard somewhere he said he was "pleased" to have his endorsement. Later he said he doesn't agree with Hagee's positions on Catholics. Yall've been critical of Obama over Farrakhan - what do yall think about McCain and Hagee?

On the short video i saw of Hagee and Revelations...McCain probably should not have accepted the endorsement.

I'll stop playing. However, Hagee's comments were...troublesome. Fortunately the Obama and Farrakhan comparison's are no where near Hagee's endorsement. Farrakhan has announced his bigotted statements multiple times - Hagee not nearly so much that I can tell.

Erik

And go peddle that crap elsewhere, 'kid'. Two points.

(1) there is no comparison between John Hagee and Calypso Louie. None. At. All. All you libs think evangelicals are backwoods racist bigot homophobes, but we are not responsible for your mysogynistic idiocy. Get outdoors once in awhile.

(2) The left is the sole repository for American racism on display. Quit projecting your own bigotry onto us on the right.

Even if Farrakhan is worse than Hagee, even if he is way worse, that does not mean that an analogy cannot be drawn.

All you libs think evangelicals are backwoods racist bigot homophobes, but we are not responsible for your mysogynistic idiocy.

I don't think any such thing. I have seen people on Redstate calling Hagee a bigot in the past. It is hardly only a thing that liberals say. And where did the misogyny part come from?

Quit projecting your own bigotry onto us on the right.

I don't know why you are calling me a bigot. I don't think I have said anything on this site, now or ever, to warrant being branded as such. And I am not saying that people on the right, in general, are anything, I am talking about one person. In the same way, if you or I call Farrakhan anti-Semitic, that is not saying that all Black people are anti-Semitic.

Get outdoors once in awhile.

?

If you want to make the comparison, stand up and make it. We don't cotton to people coming here and asking weasely questions hinting at that, making the point without actually making an argument that can be refuted, with premises that can be accepted or rejected.

What does "conservatives in the misting" mean?

I actually did not want to make an argument in the first place, I just wanted to see what people's reactions were. But OK, I guess I can try and make an argument. But it might take me awhile to put together/write so I will post it a little later.

I take it you mean the John Hagee vs Louis Farrakhan comparison.

Perhaps after studying that one you'll see why you've gotten a bit of a response.

"Conservatives in the misting" -- very roughly this: Leaving your land, and traveling far, far afield to study the unusual and poorly-understood species called "conservatives" . Attempting to "fit in", or at least up-close observe through your leftist lens behavior you don't understand.

When you lead off by taking a pretty garden-variety if pompous evangelical preacher, affixing the label anti-Catholic and anti-Semite because "a lot of people say"....well, that's one of the easy ways that us "conservatives in the mist" can tell you're a visitor from that far-off land.

We don't much care for the labeling, so we respond in kind, since you lefties REALLY like labels. Or so we hear.

It's a play on a Jonah Goldberg article. We use the term to refer to when people come here and just ask us questions, sometines pointed ones, expecting us to explain our viewpoint under a dictated framework of debate.

Notably, the authors in question don't give a viewpoint of their own, that way they don't have to defend. They can just be like flyerhawk and pick at others' viewpoints, being the high and mighty contrarian, without having to stand for anything.

So when you come here and ask us for our viewpoint against an argument you don't even feel prepared to defend, that's just outright trolling and not allowed. If your comment were a diary I'd close it.

You lead off with a bunch of stuff like

A lot of people say...

and I heard somewhere...

to then assert these things (while retaining some deniability):
(1) Hagee is some kind of character that might equate to Calypso Louie - an anti-Catholic and anti-Jew. [the comparison fails here not only in degree but in category - and drastically so]
(2) McCain, by accepting his endorsement is therefore worthy of criticism in the same way Obama is for his chummy relations with noted separatist and racist Louie.

OK, randomkid, this is standard leftist smearage. If that's not what you are doing, then your behavior, while innocent, is both ignorant (lacking correct information) and foolish (using an apples and oranges game to color McCain and Republicans).

So if I label you as using standard leftist tactics, it's only because you are. I'm not inclined to give a stranger the benefit of the doubt when he leads off with leftist tripe.

Interesting article with multiple misleading comments downline - I won't post the link here. The title says pretty much says it all. If Fidelity banned kos due to profanity I would absolutely agree with them - horrendous profanity. And, I thank the moderators for keeping Redstate clean with excellent posts I can proudly forward.

It just shows what a bunch of socialist losers they are, that they get so worked up about one private company exercising control over its internal network.

Could someone please let me know why MARK WARNER is doing advertising on Redstate. I am...lets just say taken aback and a little disturbed by it. Do any liberal blogs allow conservatives to do campaign advertising on there? I'd be shocked...to say the VERY least.
