Two Things To Make Me Smile

The CEO of JetBlue has called DailyKos a "hate site." They've caved on their promotion deal. That makes me happy.

For three hours tomorrow, just say it with me: "President Richard Cheney."

I might not even need the codeine tonight to sleep (I'm very under the weather). I'll just repeat "Dick Cheney is President" and sleep all happy and warm.

You know, come to think of it, I could get on board the "Impeach Bush" bandwagon solely for the reason that Cheney would be President. But then if they had the votes to impeach Bush, they'd probably go after Cheney too and that'd leave us with America's Mother-in-Law as President.

This is an open thread. I'm going back to bed.

Are you as think as we stoned you are?

Dreaming of Dick Cheney, in any context, is not good...

Well okay... dreaming of Dick Cheney sending the bombers against Evil Nations... you know like France, Iran, France and Syria would be okay

Especailly France...

Excellent idea.

He was a very effective CEO of a top-quality company (HAL). He's been successful enough that now he can afford to give something back by working in a super-prestigious charity position, with an awesome office address to boot.

I'm glad JBLU's boss finally woke up and smelled the coffee, but I still probably shouldn't have bought his stock. (After today, I wish I didn't own any stock.)

dkos is doing a hate email campaign to jet blue. I think we need to send a few complimentary emails to JetBlue!

For a whole week, JBLU has been taking it in the rear from our side, and now it's coming from the other guys. People who care nothing at all about airlines are going to be talking about them for years now. Ahh, it's a thing of beauty.

Yup, the masses only remember your name and forget why you were in the news.

CongressCritter™: Never have so few felt like they were owed so much by so many for so little.

If Bush were impeached and Cheney became president, then one of his first acts would be to appoint a vice president. That vice president -- NOT Nancy Pelosi -- would be next in line for the presidency (like Gerald Ford replaced Spiro Agnew and then became president when Nixon resigned).

You might argue that the appointment of a vice president would require Congressional approval, and that the Democrats would obstruct any appointment being made until they had successfully impeached Cheney. I have no idea what the particulars of such an appointment would be. But I am sure that it would take many months to succeed in impeaching the new president (Cheney) -- many long months after the long months required to impeach Bush.

1. There's not enough time left in this administration to successfully prosecute two consecutive impeachments.

2. If Cheney replaced an impeached Bush, the position of vice president could not, would not be unfilled for the length of time required to run a second impeachment.

3. The naked ambition to put Nancy in the Oval Office would be far too clear for the American people to support such an attempted coup. Even Nancy might shy away from such an openly ambitious grab for power.

Why would Cheney even have to appoint a Vice President if Bush was in fact impeached. 15 times in the history of the United States there were vacant VP slots for up to 4 years at a time.

"The conqueror is always a lover of peace; he would prefer to take over our country unopposed."

but the next in line after Cheney is a Dem, and if he became POTUS, he would certainly be smart enough to appoint another Republican as VP so the Presidency didn't fall into the hands of a Dem if for some reason he became unable to act as Prez.

Putting a Republican between Speaker Pelosi and the Presidency would be nice.

Run like Reagan!

Ok, I can fly JetBlue again, I will take the recommendation from above to e-mail and tell them so.

Kos and Soros still ....well you know..

And Rock ON... President Cheney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had to get that in before heading to bed.

You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.

Coming from a conservative blogging community it is easy to see the lure of jumping on the "other side" whenever possible. However, I don't see how the Jet Blue/Daily Kos result can be seen as a beneficial thing to this community under a critical eye. There may be huge ideological differences between Redstate and Daily Kos, but there are real similarities too, as when the two have worked together in the past. Those similarities outweigh the differences in this case. Many people want to see this through a liberal/conservative lens, it should be seen through the lens of MSM vs. internet based media.

The losers in this episode were places like Redstate. Is every internet based "media" operation now beholden to the worst comments found on the site in the eyes of corporate America? Do you think there will be a great desire on the part of the next Jet Blue to delve into the differences in the moderation of Daily Kos and Redstate before making a contribution? And what if they happen to run across the posts of a Demophilus2 when doing so? Why even risk associating with such non-mainstream operations when the MSM is so ready and willing to accept their largesse.

Perhaps the alternative media doesn't need or want corporate donations. Even then, this kind of story simply plants more fear and uncertainty in the minds of the average person on the legitimacy of a media site that has the audacity to contain a forum. Don't take my word for it, however, if it doesn't come from someone with a TV show it might be "hate speech".

A strange result to cheer from where we all sit.

about the long-term effects on the conservative blogosphere, before we objected to JetBlue associating itself with YearlyKos.

We simply remembered the four Blackwater employees, veterans all, butchered in Fallujah.

We then remembered Markos saying "Screw'em."

We THEN remembered Kos refusing opportunity after opportunity to modify his remarks so they'd be less offensive.

That's enough.

And, if raising objections like this are detrimental to the long-term interests of the conservative blogosphere...then, the conservative blogosphere should get some new long-term interests.

"Who will stand/On either hand/And guard this bridge with me?" (Macaulay)

is that the folks here at RS, for the most part, stand for moral values. The trash that gets published (and remains up) at DKos is venomous hate that is directed at Republicans and the USA. Any company that indicates any kind of approval for the kind of vile sewage that comes from that web site deserves exactly what happened to JetBlue - a barrage of negative publicity. My values extend right past the glories of the "alternative media." If any form of "traditional media" published the kind of trash that flies at DKos, the response would be just the same.

If receiving corporate donations means putting up with hate, then I personally don't want them. Frankly, any sane person who would look at that site should have more than "fear and uncertainty". They should come away with nausea and vomiting. They can keep their donations if it means sacrificing our values. Screw 'em.

Has moderators that do a pretty good job. This site doesn't tolerate calls for violence towards people. It makes rather serious efforts to keep the conversations respectable.

You can't say that about KOS. I have no problem with Hate sites being taken down.

Are the consumed with hate leftys faced with a perfect conundrum? They certainly are praying for a "death on the table" for Pres. Bush but equally praying that VP Cheney never becomes president.

If Bush dies while getting his roto rootered then our country has a lot more problems than dealing with/enjoying a Cheney presidency. We may have to start sending our presidents to Cuba for treatment.

there may be for the emotional calls for impeachment proceedings, I still don't remember hearing a legal complaint articulated. Simply saying, "Bush lied, people died," will not escape the scrutiny of an objective review of events on a timeline, and the findings will not ultimately reveal compelling evidence of any convincing level of deliberate deception. If anything, a rush to impeachment will lead to this absence of an articulated complaint of wrongdoing and thus disillusion among some of the people who were most receptive of the whole emotive exercise. Naturally, one taken in by the rhetorical button-pushing will wonder why the proceedings themselves are delayed by a near-total lack of prosecutorial leverage, after having been sold on the sensation.

This week I became a great uncle at age 37.

I can't remember 37. Although I do know that my coffee mug covers what I must have been doing at 37...

Congrats on being a great uncle. Mostly, I've settled for being a good to OK uncle. Great, at least as an uncle, just ain't in me. :>)
