"Drill, Drill, Drill"

Via the Baseball Crank, we have this article by Newt Gingrich on how Norway has become a leader in offshore drilling--thus helping it to avoid the energy crisis so many Americans are worrying about and this article by Larry Kudlow indicating a strong willingness on the part of the American electorate to having increased drilling. Note the following passage from the Kudlow article:

. . . Recent polling data from Gallup show the percentage of voters blaming oil companies for skyrocketing gasoline prices has dropped from 34 percent to 20 percent over the past year. At the same time, support for more drilling in U.S. coastal and wilderness areas has increased to 57 percent from 41 percent.

This indicates a level of policy sophistication that is, alas, all too absent from our political leadership class.

Just think if we'd of started drilling in ANWAR and made the necessary improvement to the Alaskan pipeline, we may not be in this mess. Today's technology allows us to go further into the ground and in "cleaner" was to negate any worry from the enviro-Nazis.

Remember, to them... they're is the only speech that matters.

Probably still not enough to over come the environmental lobby

I would say 57% is still low. If you could send a survey to every person in America that said...

Would you encourage Congress to open up less than 5,000 acres of ANWR (19 million acres of frozen tundra)to responsibly drill for oil to drive the cost of your fuel down?
-I bet the percentage saying yes would be much higher than 57.

Regardless, who is the environmental lobby? Where do they get their money? How do they have such a strong hold on our Congress to basically have control of ANWR, our coasts, Dakotas, etc.?

The new leader of our party holds the views of the environmentalists

of things that the public wants, and the congress will not do. Like lower taxes, secure the border, end earmarks, end ethanol subsidies, etc.

That we why we need a powerful and coordinated anti-environmental lobby group to counter the environmental lobby.
