The Giuliani Health Care Plan

I want to see more specifics of the plan, although it is entirely possible that the New York Times simply didn't do a good job of reporting on all of the specifics. But I am pleased to note that granting incentives to people who purchase their own insurance either through tax breaks or through vouchers and opposing government mandates that require people to purchase health insurance, Giuliani has gone a long way towards meeting the basic premises of the Anti-Universal Coverage Club, whose principles are, I believe, the best answer to any health care crisis that we are facing.

Your one shot at learning it before you get booted.

We also ask for logical arguments, not just rambling thrown at the wall.
Please take both of these admonitions as instructive and mandatory.

fighting the BIG RED SCARE for so many decades...
Wow. Been in a cave, huh? Ronald Reagan won the cold war, the "Red Scare" has been over for 15+ years. And, FWIW, conservatives weren't the ones who were "scared", we were - and are - more than confident in the ability of our military to protect us.
anything that smells of socialism causes
Same cave, huh. Socialism does not work. Period. In case you missed it most of "old Europe" are electing more conservative governments and are backing away from their socialist models. Including Norway.
socialized medicine works in all other developed nations
Oh really. That's probably why all the people in those "developed nations" who can afford it come HERE for their medical care. And those developed nations have accounted for just what medical breakthroughs in the last fifty years? Please.
efficiently and humanely CARE for all of a country's citizens in a civilized manner.
Tell that to the folks whose relatives died on waiting lists waiting for routine tests or procedures.
the "for profit" model is neither humane nor civilized.
Oh, right. We have people dying in the streets because they can't get medical care. Not to mention that every modern innovation in care and all new pharmaceutical products come from the US.
You can drop Michael Moore a note and tell him you set us straight. You should also consider leaving the US and moving to one of the socialist workers paradises that you seem so enamored with.
You are proof that we have no shortage of idiots.

It takes at least 90 minutes to put the kids to bed in our house. What with drinks, and baths and stories and always too much kidding around. But those are the most precious moments. My wife would love to do it, but she’s very tired. Cancer will do that.
I’ve read your analysis of my post and don’t agree on a single point thereby don't see much chance of influencing your beliefs. If you wanted to, you could find a very different actuality. See iom.edu if so inclined (The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies > Board on Health Care Services > Consequences of Uninsurance)
BTW, I didn’t mean to imply that conservatives or anyone else were scared as in Cold War scared. All I was trying to say was that years of conditioning on the evils of communism and socialism has had a residual effect of not being able to rationally discuss what socialism can and can’t do. Socialized Police and Fire services are fine, Socialized medicine however?
All the best to you and yours.
I’ll leave you to your beliefs.
The details are very obscure, and I don't think it's the NYT fault, since the NY Daily News reported today,
When asked how many of the nation's 46 million uninsured the plan may help, the Republican Giuliani said, "Don't know yet."
Rudy didn't say how much it would all cost either.

Americans have been fighting the BIG RED SCARE for so many decades that anything that smells of socialism causes an instantaneous defensive reflex. Never mind that socialized medicine works in all other developed nations and has worked for decades to efficiently and humanely CARE for all of a country's citizens in a civilized manner. Never mind that the "for profit" model is neither humane nor civilized. Never mind that other services like police and fire are socialized. They don’t count because they are not thought of "that way". Until the BIG RED SCARE phobia is tempered with a severe dose of rationality, the American Health care system will continue to be overpriced and not provide adequate Care for its citizens. (imho)
