“This is rather personal, but it's shop talk.

Jeff Emanuel, whoever you are, wherever you are, I wanted to thank you sir.

Nobody since Ernie Pyle has reported this war from the trenches as you are doing. Obviously, you know our guys deserve better.

You have been skeptical of their mission, and yet are awed by their performance.

Thank you.”

a well-spent $50 or $100 for all those who contributed to this mission.

from Paul Harvey's website. It's at about the 5:45 mark and there's more to it than quoted above.

but let's give the man a chance to get into the trenches before we expect him to live up to such lofty comparisons.

Mr. Harvey's commentary is in the present tense for a reason... of course, that's not to say it wasn't spoken partly to encourage him as things get tougher.

how desperately we have needed this kind of reporting. Factual and honest, but with the kind of appreciation that comes with the right experience.

Congratulations Jeff. I just listened to the audio. High praise from the legend himself.

That really is a terrific tribute. You should be very proud of yourself!

I look forward to every post.

I'm really enjoying the view from the other side. Thanks Jeff and Victoria (it's still weird to call you by your given name).
