For Sunday, July 8, 2007

Meet the Press (NBC): In the wake New Mexico Pete's declaration, host Tim Russert talks to counterculture, anti-war guru Chuck Hagel.
FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace talks to Representatives Chris Van Hollen, (D-Maryland) and Chris Cannon (R-Utah) about Scooter Libby, then he talks to the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, Pete Hoekstra of Michigan, about the GWOT and the chance of another attack on the United States.
Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer talks to Chuck Schumer and Orrin Hatch about the CONSTITUTIONAL CRISES.
This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos talks to John Conyers, the Michigan Democrat who plans to lead the House Judiciary Committee down the time/money-wasting path of investigating Presidential pardons. Steph then gets hip, talking to Texas Republican Representative Ron Paul, the cash-in-hand man. And former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel, who is challenging Joe Biden from the Democrat Presidential nomination this year. Comedian John Stewart snagged a YouTube of Gravel staring at the camera for a few minutes, throwing a rock into a lake, and walking away. (This might have made a good Joy Division video thirty years ago.)
Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer brings in Dick Lugar, Iraqi National Security Advisor Mowaffak al-Rubaie, Pat Leahy and Arlen Specter, and his usual cast of thousands.

It seems that the "ABANDON IRAQ" freaks are coming out on Sunday morning. We know what Schumer's going to say, as he's been saying these things for months and other Dems repeat them. I figure staff drew up some talking points, and they're sticking to them.
Hoekstra is always interesting, but Steph's show promises to be "special" just for the strangeness.
I'll have the review here at RedState early tomorrow afternoon.

what planet these Republican Senators think they are on.
They confirmed Petraeus to implement the surge strategy. They know full well that strategy is just now being implemented, that there are some promising early returns & that it's way too early to draw any firm conclusions one way or the other.
Finally, they have to know that "withdrawal without victory" = "Al Qaeda win, U.S. loss"; it'll strengthen Al Qaeda's hand (and Iran's hand) and become "Exhibit B" (Vietnam being "Exhibit A") in the case for why it's dangerous to ally oneself with the United States.
Finally, it isn't even smart politics. The only way Iraq becomes a political "plus" for Republicans is by winning - NO ONE is going to get credit for being one of the Republicans who joined the Democrats in declaring & bringing about defeat. The voter who cares about that ("get out even if it means we lose") isn't about to vote for a Republican - any Republican - over a Democrat.

Thanks for the early look at Sunday!
