For Sunday, August 5, 2007

Meet the Press (NBC): Tim Russert will chat with Defense Secretary Robert Gates about Iraq, aluminum tubes, and no WMD. Afterwards, he'll speak to the "other" half of Woodward and Bernstein about his new Hillary book.

FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace talks to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice about the situation in the Middle East.

Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer chats with Rice then, for some reason, Dem caucus chair Rahm Emanuel.

This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos runs a GOP candidates "debate" between Sam Brownback, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, and Tommy Thompson. I'm not sure what can come of this political abbreviation, but it's August.

Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer talks to Gates; Afghan President Hamid Karzai; former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto; and Carl Levin.

It's August. What's the White House message, from Gates and from Rice? I have little idea what we'll see in Steph's free-for-all. Emanuel is more interesting, for pure politics, than is Levin, and when she governed Pakistan twenty-years-ago, Ms. Bhutto was the best looking world leader since Queen Nefertiti sat with Akhenaton in el-Armana in Egypt, around 1350 B.C.

I'll have the review here, as always, tomorrow afternoon.
