For Sunday, January 13, 2008

FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace talks to Republican Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani.
Meet the Press (NBC): Tim Russert talks to Hillary, a Dem Presidential hopeful, for an hour.
This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos talks to Newt and to John Kerry ("reporting for duty").
Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer chat with two Republican Presidential hopefuls, on at a time: Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney.
Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer talks to three Republican Presidential hopefuls, one-by-one: Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, and Mitt Romney.
-----
No John McCain, probably the favorite to win the Michigan primary amidst their lowered-significance, but the rest of the GOP field will be there. (Does Ron Paul count, at this point?) FNC takes Rudy even though his strategy promises that he'll be irrelevant until the 29th.
Newt and John Kerry? Don't worry, Gingrich is way too bright to get involved in this race at this point. If he's done any polling, he'd know better. Perhaps he could work to be a force to secure the nomination for Thompson at the possibly forthcoming brokered convention.
Don't know about John Kerry and his list of lots and lots of names. The real question is whether his endorsement damaged Barry, a man who is campaigning on change.
The world campaigns on Sunday.

I read that Newt is consulting with Huckabee and his campaign, along with Dick Morris. Doesn't that belie your statement that Newt is too smart to get involved in the race at this point?
in this race as a candidate.
I do not know the veracity of Gingrich or the toe sucker working for Huckabee, but Ed Rollins managed to draft columnist Jim Pinkerton as a "senior adviser" for Huckabee.

I don't think I want him. For his ideas yes. But he is so non committal I believe he's a true risk for the party to take. And he often comes off as just tired.
listening at all? He is one of the most straightforward politicians I have seen in a long time.
Tired? Please. Could you keep his schedule and be so coherent?

"I believe he's a true risk for the party to take."
The biggest risk the party could take would be going with someone we think can "win" -- but doesn't have conservative ideas. That would not be a win for the party -- it would be a huge loss and straying from our conservative principles even more. Don't underestimate Fred. He will surprise you.
Fred is "non-committal"? I've heard Fred described a lot of ways, but never non-committal. Visit Fred08.com. He's the only one in this race who has laid out his positions on everything from social security to tax reform.

I dread watching FNS, but I will if something that interests me is going to be on. I was going to see how Rudy handled himself, but since it comes on at 9:00 here (CT), you've just saved me some time....I sincerely thank you...However my dogs are not very happy because that pushes their baths up an hour.

was never answered. I wish Fred would have pointed out his accomplishments on foreign affairs and government spending investigation during his tenure. Wolf let him off the hook there, and Fred instead went at Huckabee's (lack of) experience.
Does Huckabee have any formal law education?

So is the degree in Biblical Studies his only fonal education? If so, why is this not pointed out by Fred or others? I realize that the comeback would be just two words: John Edwards. But still, how can he discern among potential SCOTUS candidates without any law background? Sounds like a big deficiency to me, if played correctly.
