...is why letting engineers loose on a problem gets much better results than letting lawyers loose on a problem.

First time I have seen one used for commercial music. Oddly enough it sounds much better than you'd expect.

That one is a Moog Etherwave Pro, which Moog no longer makes (but you can still buy) ~$1,600. Expen$ive.

You can build a basic one for much less, only about $105. You can listen to a sample on that website, I had a friend who built one in college, it was a lot of fun. Someone with a basic electronics background could really take one a long way.

those "Zamfir" type flutes that are played in Penn Station or some of the larger subway stations (with good acoustics). It has a more processed electrical type sound in this clip.
